Story
Rocky is 5 years old. We acquired him from family friends who still have his parents. He is a loyal companion. Protective. Alerts us when someone is in the yard, at the door, etc. Craves attention. Needs to be with a family that is home with him often. Loves to play fetch. Loves massages. Loves treats. Loves walks. Loves car rides. His best friend is our cat. He is house trained, he will let us know when he has to go, but when we are gone for an extended period of time, he will potty in the house. We recently started putting him in a kennel when we are going to be gone for more than a couple hours. We are a busy family and feel that Rocky deserves to be with a family that can give him more attention. His biggest downfall is that he is food aggressive. If he finds human food or we drop human food and he gets ahold of it he becomes aggressive if we try to take it away, so we don’t try to anymore.

AVAILABLE SOON! I haven’t arrived at the adoption center just yet - I’m getting ready for adoption! Please fill out an adoption application if you’d like to meet me once I’m available. I'm 13 lbs., and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $500 All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. Bear! This little guy is a 2 year old, 17 pound Shih Tzu mix! Bear is good with other dogs and he is getting used to meeting new people and experiencing new things in his foster home. He's working on training and doing well with his crate and potty training! He's also getting used to wearing a harness so he can start leash training. He likes to spend time with his canine foster brother, cuddling up or running and playing outside. He has also started to play with his squeaky toys! Since living in a home is new to Bear, he is looking for a patient adopter who will patiently draw him out of his shell, and work on training at his pace and comfort level. He hopes to find a loving home and would love to have a well-adjusted resident dog pup to continue showing him the way. He has the cutest little face with the most expressive eyes!
