Story
Anthony-ShihTzu/Terrier X male, Senior (Aug. 2024) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Anthony came to Rescue when his elderly owner passed away, and there was no back up plan for his care. The local Humane Society took him in. He's waiting for a new home, now living in a foster home. The foster home said Anthony is doing great. For a senior dog, about 10 yr., or more, he has a spring in his step and can still play like a puppy. He has lost the sight in one eye, but it doesn't slow him down. Anthony needs a home that is quiet, since that is what he's known his whole life. Maybe with a senior human or mature adult(s). He is housetrained and has no issues with his health, other dogs or people. Anthony's adoption fee is $300 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication.

Story
Meet Rocco, a 4 1/2-year-old Parson Terrier and Shih Tzu mix! He has reached his mature weight of 10 pounds, and due his petite size, children in the home should be older than ten years or have experience handling small dogs. He wears a long coat of brown and white. His playful nature is infectious, lighting up any room with his energy. Despite his zest for play, Rocco also has a mellow side, enjoying quiet cuddles and showing his affectionate, loyal nature. He's smart and independent, often amusing himself with toys. Rocco can be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up, he's your best friend for life. Rocco was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. His blend of playfulness, intelligence, and loyalty makes Rocco an ideal companion. His unique mix of breeds contributes to his friendly and cuddly demeanor. Adopt Rocco and let his light shine in your life! (ME, 10/18/24) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. Adoption fees for Hope dogs and those who have been at rescue for prolonged amounts of time are reduced to $150 plus a $100 transport fee, as notated in their listings.October 22, 2024, 6:33 pm

Story
**Meet Queso!** Queso is a 10-month-old, 10.5 pound female Shih Tzu / Brussels Griffon mix (best guess based on appearance) with a heart full of love and a personality that will steal yours! She’s an adorable little fuzz ball with a funky nose and underbite that add to her quirky charm. She’s just such a happy pup and loves everyone! Despite her young age, Queso is already house-trained, having only had one accident indoors early on and sometimes when she’s so excited to be getting attention since she didn’t get much in her former home... She’s also crate-trained and sleeps peacefully through the night in her kennel without making a sound. She's not the biggest fan of being groomed, especially around her eyes, so she'll need to go to a professional! This playful pup doesn’t bark—though she may let out a cute little whine if she needs something like toys to play with. She is a chewer & can be destructive when she gets into things if unsupervised, so her new people will have to continue with her training (especially crating when alone), exercise her well, and provide her with lots of chew toys!  She adores other dogs and is always eager to make new furry friends, however, her energy can be too much for some dogs, so she won't be a good match for a home with older dogs or lazy dogs that won't tolerate her high energy / play with her all the time. Queso is great with kids, although her playful energy might be a bit overwhelming for very young children, so a home with kids aged 5 or older would be ideal. She doesn't mind cats, but if the cat runs, she will definitely chase and her high energy can be too much for cats! For that reason, she will not be suitable for a home with feline friends.  With her endless energy, Queso loves to play and will need an active home where she can run and burn off some of that puppy excitement. She does tend to jump up for attention, but listens well when corrected. On walks, she’s generally a good leash walker, though she might tug a bit out of curiosity. Queso rides well in the car and is quick to settle down and nap in the back seat. While she’s still learning basic commands like “go to bed” (for the crate) and “down,” she’s a quick learner and eager to please. Queso’s absolute love for life is contagious—she adores people, dogs, and just about everything else. She loves attention and affection, and nothing makes her happier than cuddling up at your feet or being near her humans. Though she’s not an escape artist, a fenced yard would be best to ensure her safety when she’s playing outdoors. She would thrive in most loving homes, whether it’s with a family or a single person, and would do well with or without another dog that can tolerate her in the home. Would be best if she's not in a city setting as she's never been exposed to that and can be frightening. While she’s full of energy now, with consistent love and attention, she’ll likely calm down and could potentially be a great work buddy in the future. Queso is a little love bug who’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of snuggles to her forever family! Here’s a link to see her in action (copy and paste it into your browser):https://youtube.com/shorts/aXpvip54ccg?si=A628Oq9QVvpHh8Kh DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***QUESO IS FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc). Our adoption fee is $400 plus health certificate and transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current basic vaccinations (rabies, bordatella, distemper, parvo, & leptospirosis), deworming, microchip (additional $12.99 registration fee required at time of adoption), fecal analysis, spay, and a 4DX test (heartworm & tickborne diseases- she’s negative for all). She is current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport. Story
Hi, my name is Izzie and my foster pawrents say that I'm just the sweetest little girl! I ended up at the shelter labeled as a stray - whatever that is. That is where I started my journey as a Miri's Haven dog. I've already moved on from my stray era and I'm totally in my glow up era. (humble brag - sorry, not sorry) My loves in life are food, being with people, and a quick run through the yard followed by a snooze. I'm pretty good at pottying outside but sometimes you have to remind me and I don't mind if you put pee pads out for me. I'm great with the dogs and cats here at my foster pawrents' house. Sometimes I holler at the other dogs if they try to bother me when I'm sleeping. I also think that everyone should share their food with me but they don't seem to agree. I'm also an expert splooter and hoping they add it to the Olympics so I can compete in LA. I take one pill a day for Cushing's and don't even mind it beacause it's an extra snackie. If you would you like to take me on some adventures, I would love to follow you!
