Story
small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! MILO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Milo         Best Guess for Breed: Shih tzu mix Best Guess for Age:  8 years as of December 2023       SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight: 12 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  Oklahoma shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get on a freedom flight here on Saturday 12/9!   Milo is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans for sniffy walks (down by their ankles!) and world exploration. Snuggles and cuddles are way high on his wish list, as are quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But what he wants most of all is to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days - small dogs can live a long time and he's got a lot of good days ahead of him!   In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Milo the one you see warming your lap as we go into the winter months? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Please contact Sue Caley (suec@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet, sweet small senior girl seeking love SISSY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Sissy       Best Guess for Breed:  Shih tzu mix Best Guess for Age:   14 years as of September 2023     SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  8.6 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:   DC area home   Special adoption considerations:  Sissy was treated for symptoms caused by dry eye and we think she is possibly blind. She may be deaf as well; we are not sure yet. (She is a very recent arrival in the DC area).Because she has some sensory loss, she startles easily. Due to this, she may not go to a home with children under the age of 12; she needs a calmer environment.    Sissy is Looking For:  Sissy's owner loved her very, very much but unfortunately was no longer able to continue taking care of her. Sissy is just so sweet and wants only to be loved once again. A warm lap or sitting out in the fresh air, snuggles, being told she's such a good girl - those will make her world complete once again. And she has so much sweetness to bring to her new humans' world.  Are you Sissy's soft landing? What My Foster Says About Me:   Sissy is a sweet senior girl. She is looking for her forever person to take her on slow walks, lounge with her on the sofa and be by her side! She is great with dogs and truly has the sweetest disposition! She sleeps through the night in her crate with her blankets and bed and really likes to sleep in in the mornings!  She wakes about 8:30am and then likes to head outside for potty. Her new person will need to look for her cues like when she wakes and when she finds her way to the potty door; she is not fully potty trained in that she will hold it until you figure out she needs to go. She is blind and does not hear, but even without those senses she is communicative and really finds her way around well with some guidance. Sissy is the total tiny package! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Adorable Spanky! He is a 3-month-old, male puppy. We do not know this litters parents but when they were surrendered to the animal shelter, we were told mom was a Shih Tzu. Spanky is shy but friendly! He is a typical young puppy who loves to play with his 2 siblings and enjoys exploring his surroundings. This puppy has been well socialized with the foster family and their dogs. This litter is fostered with dogs and are young enough to love children and cats. Because this is a young puppy, he'll require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. A refundable spay/neuter deposit will be added to the adoption fee for puppies and kittens. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16-20 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16-20 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us; thus, we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Pearl is a 6-7-month-old, Shih Tzu Chihuahua mix. Although we aren't certain on her breed, we were told her mom was a Shih Tzu and her dad was a Chi. Pearl was taking in when her former owners had too many dogs over their landlord limit. Pearl is very sweet and greets everyone with a wagging tail. She good with other dogs. Pearl is doing good with her housetraining. Even though she is 6 months old, she has just begun her puppy vaccine series. She will need a home with a private yard space until it is complete. She is scheduled for her spay the week of Christmas and our organization will be covering the cost of the appointment at our vet partner. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $550.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check.
