Story
Stop your scrolling, because you have been #BLESSED by the face of Dawn. This 1-year-old actual ANGEL is looking (with those big, irresistible eyes) for a patient adopter who understands that the best relationships take time to blossom. In early March Dawn was found wandering outside of an apartment building taken to a local shelter. Extremely fearful, she showed no aggression but would go limp and defecate if touched, preferring to hide and emerge only if she thought no one was looking. Despite this, Dawn wanted to be close to a human, but to be ignored - sleeping under the desk in the behaviorists office and always watching with her soft round eyes. After about a week she joined AARF to decompress with one of our foster families in a home environment. In her time with AARF, we continue to see slow, steady progress and glimpses of a silly, playful pup who wants to love and be loved in her own unique way. While it's taken close to two months, her foster is now able to occasionally gently pet her. Dawn is a little shadow who wants to be close (but not too close) to her human, always hiding nearby and watching the action. She is obsessed with stuffed squeaky toys and will empty her toybox to play with each one in turn, and wiggles with happiness when her foster mom walks through the door. Dawn startles easily and is wary of humans in general, but adores other dogs and gains guidance by watching them. While we know many people will be smitten with Dawn (trust us, all of us at AARF are!), she will require an experienced and gentle adopter who will put in the time, and most importantly has the patience to let Dawn emerge from her shell on her own time. Dawn has a strong preference for women, is mostly housebroken, and needs a quiet, routine driven home with a fenced yard and at least one other dog-friendly dog to build confidence. Her ideal adopter will commit to regular professional training with Dawn to help continue her growth. No kids, ok with cats. It's clear that Dawn wants nothing more than to trust, to be loved, and to love back, and she is slowly learning how to do so. If you think you can be an angel to this sweet angel, apply today at http://www.animalalliesrescue.org. For questions, email info@animalalliesrescue.org. Dawn's adoption fee is $350. AARF's adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like Dawn for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they've already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. They've been checked by a veterinarian, and are up to date on age-appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). They've been tested for heartworm and other tick-borne diseases (4DX), and have started heartworm and flea preventive medications. AARF is committed to getting all of their adoptees entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

Story
Kylie is ready for a hair trim and hopes to get one soon. She is ready for a gentle loving home to take care of her. Kylie is only 1yr old. She is a female, ShihTzu/Poodle mix who is just an absolute darling. Kylie is bashful and friendly. She is loving and wants to be with her person. She is active and likes to run and play. Kylie has lived with older children and another dog. She has done well in the car too. Little Kylie needs some TLC to give her time to get used to your schedule. She would benefit from crate training to help her learn to hold it until you get home to let her outside. She is very loyal and it should not take long for her to understand when you tell her “Good Girl” when she potties outside. If you are looking for a small happy lapdog that likes to play, come on by to meet this sweetie.   To start the adoption process for this pet, visit the shelter during our animal viewing hours below. After meeting them, you can fill out an adoption application at our facility.  Animal Viewing Hours: Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri 10:00-4:30 (Closed at 2:30 the last Friday of each month) Tues 1:30-7:00 Sat 10:00-2:00 Closed on county observed Holidays and Holiday weekends. The ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before you inquire. Do not call, email, txt, send an inquiry through any other website complete our online application FIRST. http://hals.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=3016 Visit our official website(s) here HomeAtLastSanctuary.ORG or HALS.RescueGroups.ORG There is a complete our application only. Say hello to Reggie FKA Clay. This is Reggie's personal Webpage https://hals.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=18757375 4/12/23 UPDATE!! Reggie has made a lot of improvement learning to deal with his fears from his past life.  Reggie has been living with an older dog since he arrived here.  A few weeks ago two more foster dogs arrived.  7 pound 14 year old toy Poodle and a 14 pound 8 year old miniature Poodle.  Reggie has not really had any other canine companions and he is doing a good job learning proper dog etiquette.  We would do well with a little larger submissive other dog.  Reggie will require human leadership that can convince him you are pack leader.  Former dog ownership will be recommended and likely required. Reggie is a neutered Shih-tzu / Papillon mix born 9/18/2018, around 17 pounds, house-trained, Up-to-date on his medical. Reggie is an agility dog in the making if you are so inclined to make him that.  He is smart, intelligent, fast, agile, and stinking cute.  The main thing will be whether you can keep up with him. Reggie is a fearful dog due to things he experienced from his past. We have been working through many of these fears, he is still working through other things. He will likely require a quiet home with very few people living there and without lots of coming and going of other people.  Reggie will require human companion willing to give him space to make contact on his terms. Reggie will require an introduction with every one that enters.  Once he conquer his fears he is confident amusing and very affectionate. His fears still include "stranger danger".   He gets very excited when; people, bicycles, loud vehicles, other dogs especially noisy other dogs in public.  At home he is a watch dog.  His favorite thing, and  his job letting you know about anything and anywhere.  He will get excited when people come AND GO. Reggie should be with children 15 years OLD OR OLDER He WOULD NOT be a good match where a dog barking would disturb others around where you live such as apartments or condominiums. Reggie is a dog that requires regular grooming and occasionally professional grooming. Reggie is comfortable around other dogs well matched for him. It is unlikely he will be able to live with cats. Story
Taj is an amazing and loveable shih tzu puppy that is full of life and love. Unfortunately, our older shih tzu puppy is more of a loner and this baby is more social. It breaks my heart to let him go but I want to find a safe and loving home for him to grow up.
