Story
Hello, I'm Raymond. I'd like to tell you a little about myself.I'm what they call a "senior" dog. That means I have a few years on me, and I may have some health issues that I've learned to live with. It also means I've experienced life and I know stuff. One thing I know is that some humans care more about their pets than others. I used to live in a home with my family, but I had a habit of wandering, and sometimes I would get lost in my neighborhood. The police would pick me up and take me home. One day when I was taking my walk, someone picked me up and brought me here instead of taking me home. I was a little confused at first, and I didn't understand where I was and why I was here. Did I do something bad?I'm hardly an escape artist, so it's not like I "ran away" all the time. I have cataracts, so can't see very well. I can't hear very well either, and there might be some dementia starting. I feel confused a lot of the time, and sometimes I walk in big circles. That might explain why I would get lost during my little walks. My shelter peeps are saying I'm about twelve years old, but that's an estimate. I've stopped counting, because age is just a number, right? So I guess I need to start looking for a new home. I'd like to live with another dog that could help me find my way around, and maybe keep an eye on me so I don't wander away from home. A kind human, who would keep an eye on me while I'm outside, would work to. I believe most caring humans would naturally do that instead of letting me get lost.I like to be outside and go for walks (obviously), but I'm not great on a leash. I can't see where I'm going, so it's kind of scary. A fenced yard would be best for me, but if you don't have one, that's not a deal-breaker. I'll just have to try harder to learn about leashes. Most of the time I'm in the office behind that nice lady's desk. Sometimes I just bark randomly, and sometimes I'm trying to tell her I need to pee. I try to remember to stand at the gate, so she gets the idea. She usually takes me outside, but sometimes she's busy, and then I have an accident. She doesn't get mad, and that makes me happy.Older kids would be fine, but only if they're respectful and aware that I have trouble seeing and hearing, so please don't sneak up and scare me! Real little kids would be too active and I might not be able to get out of the way fast enough. I hope someone out there will be kind enough to offer me a loving retirement home. Other than my sight and hearing, I seem to be in pretty good health. The good vet here at the shelter neutered me and I came through like a champ! If you're interested in meeting me, and you promise to love me and protect me from things I can't see or hear, I'd love to get to know you. Please go to the shelter website and submit an adoption application. Be sure to put my name at the top of the application so the girls know it's for me!I hope there are kind people out there looking for a calm, older guy like me to make part of their family, and I hope they apply to adopt me real soon!

Story
Please contact Sue Caley (suec@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet, sweet small senior girl seeking love SISSY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Sissy       Best Guess for Breed:  Shih tzu mix   Best Guess for Age:   14 years as of September 2023     SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  8.6 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:   DC area home   Special adoption considerations:  Sissy was treated for symptoms caused by dry eye and we think she is possibly blind. She may be deaf as well; we are not sure yet. (She is a very recent arrival in the DC area).Because she has some sensory loss, she startles easily. Due to this, she may not go to a home with children under the age of 12; she needs a calmer environment.    Sissy is Looking For:  Sissy's owner loved her very, very much but unfortunately was no longer able to continue taking care of her. Sissy is just so sweet and wants only to be loved once again. A warm lap or sitting out in the fresh air, snuggles, being told she's such a good girl - those will make her world complete once again. And she has so much sweetness to bring to her new humans' world.  Are you Sissy's soft landing? What My Foster Says About Me:   Sissy is a sweet senior girl. She is looking for her forever person to take her on slow walks, lounge with her on the sofa and be by her side! She is great with dogs and truly has the sweetest disposition! She sleeps through the night in her crate with her blankets and bed and really likes to sleep in in the mornings!  She wakes about 8:30am and then likes to head outside for potty. Her new person will need to look for her cues like when she wakes and when she finds her way to the potty door; she is not fully potty trained in that she will hold it until you figure out she needs to go. She is blind and does not hear, but even without those senses she is communicative and really finds her way around well with some guidance. Sissy is the total tiny package! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Romeo and Juliet were both street dogs, traveling everywhere together, looking for food and love. They were finally picked up by animal control in Georgia where they remained on a stray hold until they could be released. Animal control soon realized that Juliet was pregnant by Romeo so they called us to see if we could get them out of there before she gave birth. We had them immediately transported here to Tennessee and two weeks later she gave birth to 7 puppies. Sadly one was stillborn but the remaining 6 are all healthy happy babies who have all been adopted. Now it's Juliet's turn. She is crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and heart worm negative. Juliet is very high energy but extremely lovable. She is excellent with my 3 year old granddaughter and as you can see in the photo, fine with cats. Wouldn't you love to give her a loving and forever home! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION ADOPTION FEE $700

Story
Meet Missy Moo!!  This sweetheart is a Shih Tzu mixed with a Wiry Terrier and she just turned a year old.  She gets her slightly larger size from the Terrier side, as she tops out just under 35lbs.  Missy came from a home with many other dogs where she had to compete for affection and resources.  She is slowly learning to sit and wait and be patient for her food and water and to trust that these nourishing things will not disappear.  Missy is currently in training as she came into rescue not housebroken, did not know how to walk on a leash and had no manners.  Good news is, she is extremely intelligent and picks up new commands very quickly! Sh e has made huge strides with housebreaking and knows Sit, Place, Come, Wait, Touch and Down in just a short time. Missy is not housebroken yet but with patience and guidance we feel she will slowly master this important house manner.  In the meantime perhaps a diaper could bridge the gap till she gets the hang of it. The possibilities for this girl are endless through structured, positive reinforcement training.  Missy will snuggle up to you, with her eyes closed shut.  It breaks your heart to think of just happy she is now to have this safe and attentive foster home to pay attention to her emotional and physical needs.  She loves to go outside and play ball, running like the wind!  A playful nature and young antics that make you happy to see her enjoying life.  If you ever wanted to do flyball with a dog, Missy is your girl!  Missy loves to play with other dogs and gets along with everyone though she can be a bit annoying for low key pups.  She is not aggressive with cats but is overbearing and doesn’t understand why they don’t play like a dog so our recommendation is no cats or other small animals.  Due to being a medium-high energy pup we are looking for an active family with no small children. *We are requiring Missy’s new home to have a fenced in yard.*   Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.February 25, 2024, 10:00 pm
