Story
Meet Josie! Josie is a 2-year-old, 10 lb Shih Tzu mix with a heart full of love and a gentle, social personality. She was found as a stray in Detroit, severely overgrown and matted, and sadly, no one came forward to reclaim her. Now cleaned up and safe, Josie is ready to start her next chapter with a family of her own. This sweet girl enjoys the company of others and has done well with other dogs and cats in her foster home, however she was recently adopted and returned as she was overly reactive to other dogs in passing and did not greet them well. She would also likely do well with dog-savvy children who understand gentle handling. Josie thrives on being close to her people and would make a wonderful lap dog for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. She can also sometimes be a busy girl with a goofy personality, which will bring you endless entertainment! Josie is crate trained and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners. She is not a good candidate for a tether system or an invisible fence and will need a secure fence, to keep her safe. She likes to bark at cars and people passing by, so an apartment is not an ideal environment for her. As a Shih Tzu mix, she will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. Josie is a loving, devoted little girl who is looking for an active family to cherish her and give her the stability she deserves. If you’re searching for a cuddly companion to love you back endlessly, Josie may be your perfect match! Josie is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayedADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2631415##

Story
Bubbles and her sister and brother, Buttercup and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Bubbles has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 9 pounds and is probably full grown now. Bubbles is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Although and three pups are extremely sweet, Bubbles is a most friendly and a super snuggler! She plays great with her brother and sister and we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them. She would do well with older children and we have not had her around cats but we feel like she would be fine with proper introduction. If you would like to give this super affectionate love bug her forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Meet Dracula — the perfectly pint-sized mix of sweet and spicy, looking for someone who gets him. Don’t be fooled by the name — he’s not out for blood, just love. Once he feels safe, this quirky little guy will melt right into you, showing his softer, snuggly side. Dracula is housebroken, well-mannered, and happiest as the star of the show — no other pets, please. He does best in a calm, low-traffic home without children, where he can build trust at his own pace. He may be cautious at first and a little nippy when nervous, but with patience and kindness, he transforms into the most loyal little shadow you’ll ever have. About Dracula: -Potty trained and well-behaved at home -Prefers to be the only dog -Needs a calm, child-free home -Shy at first but deeply affectionate once he bonds -Loves belly rubs, ear scratches, and cozy snuggles Dracula’s a tiny dog with a huge heart — he just needs someone patient enough to help him shine. Once he chooses you, he’s yours for life. Adoption is $350, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
