Story
Hi future family! Thanks for clicking on my profile—it really means a lot. I’m a pretty distinguished girl (if I do say so myself) who’s still learning how great life can be. Every day I get a little more comfortable and start to understand what it means to be loved. My foster family says I’m super cute, and I won’t argue with that. I’ve got a sweet side, a playful side, and I tend to win people over pretty quickly. I’m looking for a home without little kids since I don’t always love being handled, and I’d rather be your only pet. I can be a bit bossy with other dogs and like having my own space. I’d love a family who will keep helping me grow, hang out with me, and enjoy the little things—walks, sunshine, and just being together. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d really love to meet you.We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. April 21, 2026, 2:25 pm

Story
Hi there! “Jack Pot” checking in.. This little dude (currently only 5lbs) is the snuggliest, cutest, bestest little boy.  He has been a great eater (both hard and wet food), goes outside to potty (for the most part… we’re working on it), walks well on a leash, goes up and down stairs, and can jump up and down from the couch.  He is getting along great with my small dogs and large cat. He’s been pretty quiet too. I do suggest that if there are children in the home, they be 8yo+ or be small dog savvy…. JP gets a bit nervous about stranger danger and/or quick entrances to a room or at a door.  He is estimated to be around 10yo but you can’t tell… this boy has a lot of spunk. He likes playing with toys and running the yard with my other dogs. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET HAZY:  Meet Hazy: The Sweetest, Snuggliest Introvert Looking for Her Quiet Forever   Hello, my name is Hazy. I’m about 2 years and 7 months old, and my journey hasn’t been an easy one. I was found as a stray in Detroit, scared, confused, and covered in painful mats. I didn’t know kindness, and the world felt very big and loud. My time was almost up until my angels at Furever Tails Animal Rescue saved me.   Now, I’m safe in a foster home, and I’m learning what love feels like. I’m ready to find my person—my true forever home.   Here’s what you should know about me:   My Personality: I am a certified introvert and a gentle soul. I’m not a social butterfly; I’m more of a "stay-at-home-and-snuggle" kind of girl. Loud noises, busy places, and lots of strangers are too much for my nervous heart. I dream of a calm, low-key home where the vibe is peaceful.   My Friends:  I can politely coexist with other calm, mellow dogs my size and with cats, as long as they respect my space (I’m not much for playdates). But I don’t need animal siblings—I would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention.   My Home Needs: Because I startle easily, I *must* have a securely fully fenced yard. I should never be left outside alone or tethered. Social walks are scary for me, so my outdoor time will be best in my own safe yard.   My People:  I am currently living with a wonderful, patient foster family with two women and two rescue-savvy teens. I do best with calm, predictable adults or older teens who understand shy dogs. A home without lots of visitors or chaotic energy is my ideal.   The Most Important Thing:  I am *not a "turn-key" dog*. I will need time, immense patience, and quiet consistency to learn to trust. I am not recommended for first-time dog owners. But I promise you this: once I know I am safe with you, my love is boundless. I will become your most loyal shadow, your bed-snuggling expert, and your quiet, devoted companion.   I am looking for a hero—not someone who wants a party, but someone who offers a peaceful harbor. Someone who sees that a shy, timid dog has a huge capacity for love waiting to bloom.   If you have a quiet heart and a quiet home, and you’re ready to commit to earning the trust of a sweet, sensitive soul… then I might be your girl.   Could you be my safe place?   Interested in giving Hazy her happily ever after?   Please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you shortly.   Share to help Hazy find her perfect, patient match!   #AdoptDontShop  #RescueDog  #IntrovertDog  #SpecialNeedsDog  #FureverTails  #DetroitRescue  #DiamondInTheRough  #PatientHomeNeeded HAZY is: Current on age appropriate vaccinations.DewormedReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayed ADOPTION FEE: Sponsored but a donation is always appreciated    FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. Story
Meet Petunia! Petunia is a 1-year-old, 14 lb Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with a personality as bright and beautiful as her name. This sweet, social, and outgoing girl was found as a stray in Detroit, severely matted and overgrown, and sadly never reclaimed. While her past may have been uncertain, her future is nothing but full of love, comfort, and second chances. Petunia absolutely adores attention and thrives on being around her people. She’s a happy, affectionate girl who enjoys playing with toys and soaking up all the love she can get. Her friendly nature makes her a joy to be around—she truly hasn’t met a stranger she doesn’t like. She does well with other dogs and has also done well with cats. Petunia would likely do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with her and match her fun, social energy. Petunia will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. She is not a dog that should be placed on a tether, as she can become quite vocal when left alone in that setting. In fact, she is not what we would consider a good fit for an apartment or tightly-knit living environment as she has a tendency to focalize her thougths and feelings. She’s also not a big fan of the crate just yet, but with patience and consistency, she is slowly learning routine and making progress. This little lady is looking for an active, loving home where she can continue to blossom, be part of the family, and enjoy all the attention she deserves. Petunia is ready to plant herself right into your heart and grow into your perfect companion—she’s just waiting for a family to love her furever. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. Story
Buttercup and her sister, Bubbles were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd last year so they are now a year old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs about 6 pounds and is full grown now. She is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little shy at first, and she definitely tries to boss her sister around, but they really love each other! She and Buttercup are very bonded and we would very much like to get them a home together. They are so funny together! They play and run zoomies around the house. They would do well with older children and we have not had them around cats but we feel like they would be fine with proper introduction. If you would like to give this super affectionate love bug along with her sister, their forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.
