You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Theo is a 9-year-old Shih Tzu mix who weighs approximately 13 pounds. He is a sweet, snuggly lap log who loves to be near his humans! He would love a family that lets him sleep with them overnight. He is a gentle soul in search of a family to love him in his retirement years. Theo is very close to being potty-trained when kept on a schedule, but he does have occasional potty accidents. He will need a family who is patient with him while he continues to build consistency with housetraining. Theo does not enjoy spending time in his kennel. He is very vocal when in there, but does well with free roam, so there is really no reason to kennel him. Theo is also vocal when there are new people in his space and he likes to alert his foster family when they have visitors. For this reason, shared walls might not be the best fit for his forever home. His fur will require regular grooming, but what handsome old man doesn't deserve a good spa day?!? Theo has luxating patellas in both of his knees. The vet does not recommend surgical intervention at this time, but it is something to watch in the future. Currently, Theo should continue taking a glucosamine supplement. Kala is a 5 year old, 22 pound female Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. She is a gorgeous caramel color and has beautiful long eye lashes. She came into rescue because her owner moved into an apartment which didn’t allow dogs. Kala enjoys going for walks and usually walks about a mile per day. She is very friendly and respectfully greets people and other dogs while on walks. She will sometimes play fetch with a ball or tug a war with one of her toys. She does like exercise, and runs outside to chase the resident rabbits and squirrels around the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal for her. Kala is very sweet, well behaved, housetrained, and knows a few commands such as “sit” and “down”. She loves being with her foster parents and other people and will sit on your lap at every opportunity. She is good around other dogs and children, and would be a wonderful family dog. A family with older children who know how to engage with a small dog will be considered. Kala does require someone be at home with her the majority of the time and who will include her in their daily activities. She rides well in the car, and likes looking out the window, so hopefully her family will take her with them when appropriate. She likes nothing better than to be with her people, and that includes sleeping with them in their bed. These are the requirements for Kala’s new family: 1. Be home much of the day and include Kala in their daily activities. 2. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but is not a deal breaker, especially if Kala will be taken on long walks every day. She must have daily exercise to be happy. 3. A family with older, respectful children will be considered. 4. Live within 30 miles of Inver Grove Heights, MN. 5. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year. Kala is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has a history of urinary tract infections, which can recur, so her family must recognize the signs of an infection and have it treated immediately. Kala’s adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total fee of $403.39. To meet Kala, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Before being rescued, this little guy was abandoned in a backyard, tied to a tree, and survived thanks to kind neighbors who fed him for a month. When his foster mama saved him, he was severely matted and had to be shaved down to the skin. Oreo Pie hasn’t met a person he doesn’t adore and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and an easy-going, laid-back little man who LOVES food.
