Story
Meet Einstein!Einstein is an adorable 8-year-old, 12-pound Shih Tzu with a heart full of love. Found wandering as a stray, this sweet boy got a fresh grooming, a dental, and had a few lumps removed—and he’s feeling so much better! Einstein may be hard of hearing or deaf, but it doesn’t slow him down. He’s incredibly sweet, great with other dogs and all people, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. Einstein is a good eater, loves following his person around, and would be thrilled to snuggle in bed with you. He’s also doing well with house training. Einstein is ready to bring love and companionship to a lucky forever home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 5, 2025, 11:29 am

Story
Fritz is a 2 year old neutered male. He is up to date on all vaccinations. I’ve only had him for a short time. He is 1/2 Shih Tzu and 1/2 Bichon. He weighs about 16 pounds but he definitely needs to lose a few lbs. He doesn’t shed and he doesn’t bark and definitely not aggressive. He would thrive in a home with someone who would slowly introduce him to new things, he needs confidence. He seems to be unsure of new things/experiences. I know that he has a wonderful personality buried in there somewhere. Some patience will bring that out. He becomes bonded to his “person” and will follow you everywhere. The photo shown is after his recent grooming.

Story
Flurry is a spunky and energetic little boy. He is nervous at first, but then full of love and licks. He was born in rescue after both parents were surrendered. All of his siblings and dad have found their homes. Mom is skye terrier and dad is shih tzu. He loves to run and play with the other small breed dogs but is a little afraid of the larger dogs. He likes to play with the cats. He will snuggle up beside you at night or sleep in his playpen area. He has only been in a crate with the door opened to play area. Flurry knows how to use a doggy door to go outside. He has been completely vetted and is ready for his forever home. He is fostered in East TN, but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Rider Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Link to the adoption application for Flurry is https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15bXzbafD_YIu-_Hjhat-NDfh2p9mKqrbtm362CtdU5s/edit?usp=drivesdk

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, July 20th from 10:30-11:30 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Matilda is a 10-pound Shih Tzu sweetheart who’s equal parts silly and snuggly. Around 3 years old, she’s still discovering how wonderful life can be—and every day, her joyful, goofy side shines a little brighter. Though a bit shy and watchful at first, Matilda warms up quickly with just a few days of patience and love. Once she’s comfortable, expect frequent kisses, enthusiastic tail wiggles, and zoomies powered by pure happiness. Her playful spirit comes out with toys, bully sticks, and bones—and her signature underbite just makes her even more irresistible. Matilda is fully potty trained and uses both potty pads and outdoor spaces. She’s not a fan of leashes just yet and will freeze up on walks, so she’ll need a securely fenced yard while she builds confidence with the outside world. Loud noises and sudden movements can spook her, so she’d do best in a calm home with adults or older children who understand her gentle nature. She thrives with other small dogs and would love a canine buddy to show her the ropes and keep her company. She’s quiet overall, only chiming in with the occasional bark when her dog friends are being extra chatty. Matilda is a total love bug who adores couch cuddles and outdoor sniffing sessions. She’s got a soft heart, a wiggly bum, and the sweetest snuggle energy. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with an endearing underbite and a heart of gold, Matilda just might be your perfect match. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Maks is a 5-pound Shih Tzu with the soul of a cartoon character and the belly of a professional napper. He may have been a little shy at first, but once he settles in, prepare yourself for maximum Maks — sweet, goofy, and endlessly entertaining. This little guy loves his people and has a flair for dramatic lounging. His signature move? A full-on flop onto his back, limbs spread, eyes pleading: “Please sir, may I have some chest scratches?” He’s a big fan of belly rubs, couch snuggles, and gentle butt bumps (yes, really — he backs into you or your dog and flops over like a fainting goat. It’s his thing). Maks likes to dabble in toys — for about 10 seconds — before deciding that belly-up relaxation is the superior hobby. He also loves following the lead of his doggy foster siblings and has even picked up their quirks, like napping on hardwood floors instead of the cushy couch. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all. He's potty trained ish — he wears a belly band just in case and does best on a consistent potty schedule (don’t push past three hours unless you want a surprise!). He’s great on a leash, gets along with dogs of all sizes, and while he hasn’t met any cats yet, he’s so chill that he’d likely do just fine. Maks would thrive in a home with another dog to follow and learn from. He bonds deeply with his humans (he’s particularly partial to adult humans and doesn’t do well with young kids) and would love to be someone’s goofy little sidekick. If you're looking for a small dog with big charm, oddball habits, and an expert-level flop technique, Maks is your guy. He’s ready to roll over into your heart — belly first.
