Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Muffin Top, the lively pup named after the best part of the muffin! With a personality like a tornado in a blaze of glory, Muffin Top was discovered locally in less-than-ideal circumstances. However, with a fresh new haircut and a positive change in outlook, she's now thriving and ready to find her forever home. Muffin appears to be a young dog bursting with energy. She's still in pure puppy mode, full of zoomies, playfulness, and a strong desire for snuggles. She would be happiest with an active family who can match her enthusiasm and help her burn off her energy. Although she's a joy to be around, Muffin does have a tendency to bark, seemingly at nothing in particular. For this reason, a living situation without shared walls would be ideal for her. While she has made progress with potty training, she will benefit from a structured routine, as she doesn't always indicate when she needs to go. Muffin lives with other dogs and does well. She sometimes doesn't understand other dogs do not want to always play so her read on boundaries isn't the best. She hasn't met a cat. Are you ready to welcome Muffin Top into your home and experience the fun and love she has to offer?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. Snapshot of Nolan: Size? Small Activity Level? I enjoy exploring, but I love to lounge on the couch more! Noise Level? I bark to let you know something new is happening. But I'm generally quiet. Good with Dogs? Yes! Good with Cats? Yes! Good with Kids? Yes! Good with Strangers? I love everyone! Potty Trained? I'm a pro once I'm settled in! Crate Trained? I'll go in my crate if needed. But I prefer to be out of it! Shedding? Minimal About Nolan: Nolan came to TCPR from local animal control with lots of mats in his fur, but a heart of gold! He received the "shelter special" haircut that is luckily growing out a little now. But we think it just adds to his character :) He does well with dogs, cats, and kids. He really is super easy going and just wants a soft spot to sleep on, humans to give him lots of love, and occasionally a stuffy or nylabone to chew on! We think Nolan would do well as an only pet too. He will occasionally play chase with our dogs. But for the most part he does his own thing. We kennel him at night and he does really well! But he's also very well behaved outside of his kennel. He took a little bit of time to learn our routine when he first arrived and had some accidents. But now that he's neutered and settled, he's a pro! Nolan has the cutest little underbite that makes him look like a grumpy guy. But he's really just a happy go lucky dude who's ready for anything! He's an excellent lap dog for rainy days spent bingeing a new show or a great pal to hang outside with while you garden. Nolan is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, my name is Charleston! I am a dashing, calm, and very sweet senior male Shih Tzu who loves to sit on foster mom’s lap while she works. I’m not really into toys but I enjoy watching TV, sleeping in bed with mom at night, and I LOVE to eat food and treats, especially popcorn… YUUUMMM! Oh yea, I’m quite the dancer too! It’s true, in fact, I think my moves are better than Fred Astaire’s and I like to show off my dancing prowess whenever I want a treat or to be lifted onto the couch. By the way, I also did great at the groomer but then who doesn’t want to look all spiffy am I right!?! Anyway, I do not like being left alone and I hate the kennel/crate! As a matter of fact, I will bark in either of those situations so hopefully my new family will be home with me (and doesn’t have shared walls!). I am, however, good about doing my business outside on a schedule; I do well with the leash; and I’m great with kids, cats, and other small dogs like me. All I need now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. I’m a patient guy with a wonderful soul and a heart that is brimming with love that I want to share with you! I really hope you’ll be my new family…I assure you that life will be MUCH better if we share it together! Love, Charleston *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hey there, I’m Archie! I may be a senior, but let me tell you, I’ve still got plenty of love and energy to go around. I’m a total indoor dog—I mean, who needs the great outdoors when you’ve got all the cozy comforts of home, right? Whether it’s rain or shine, I’m perfectly content to do my business outside and then hurry back indoors for some quality snuggle time. Toys? Oh, I can’t get enough of them! Soft, crinkly, you name it—I’ll play with anything you give me. And when it comes to treats, well, let’s just say I’ve never met one I didn’t like. Now, about that fenced yard situation—I’m not so sure I need one. Sure, I enjoy the occasional walk, but I’m not dependent on it for bathroom breaks. I’m more of a in-and-out kind of guy when it comes to outdoor activities. Plus, I’m not the best on a leash and new things can make me a little nervous, so having a safe and secure yard where I can play without worry sounds like a dream. But let me tell you, when it comes to snuggles, I’m the absolute best. I’ll cuddle up with you for hours on end, bringing joy and warmth to your home every single day. So if you’re looking for a loving companion who’s just as happy playing with toys as he is snuggling up on the couch, then look no further—I’m your guy, Archie, ready to bring a whole lot of love into your life! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hey there, I'm Annie! At 7 pounds, I might be small, but my heart is as big as they come. Being a senior Shih Tzu, I've learned a thing or two about what truly matters in life—mainly, spending quality time with my favorite humans. In my foster home, I've settled in quite nicely. From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home, eagerly exploring every nook and cranny. While I'm generally a quiet girl, I won't hesitate to bark if something catches my attention outside the window or if there's a visitor at the door. But don't worry, I'm just doing my job as a loyal companion! One thing I really enjoy is spending time outdoors. While I don't have a fenced yard to roam freely in, I'm perfectly content going for walks on my leash. Oh, and car rides? I'm a pro at those—I'll sit quietly and enjoy the scenery without a fuss. Now, when it comes to my favorite activities, nothing beats snuggling up with my person. I absolutely love curling up next to you in the chair, soaking up all the love and affection you have to offer. Toys? Not really my thing. I'd much rather be by your side, enjoying your company. As for training, I'm almost there with my potty training—I just need a little consistency. And while I'm not a big fan of crates, I'll eventually settle down if need be. I do bark when home alone, so would prefer a forever home with people that are home a lot. But let's talk about the positives, shall we? I'm an adorable girl with a heart of gold. If I want your attention, I'll gently paw at your foot—it's my way of saying, "Hey, let's hang out!" And let's not forget about my irresistibly cute face—who could resist giving me all the cuddles? So, if you're looking for a sweet, loving companion to join you on life's adventures, look no further. I'm Annie, and I can't wait to become your loyal sidekick! In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Charlie is a 13-year-old male Shih Tzu mix that weighs 9 pounds. He has beautiful curly white and brown fur. Charlie’s owner died and a family friend cared for him for a while, but was eventually surrendered to our rescue due to the family having 3 large dogs who intimidated and overpowered him. Charlie has no teeth therefore he eats small kibble or moist dog food and soft treats. He has some hearing loss and gets startled easily if touched from behind. Charlie is a loving, happy guy. He follows his people and wants to be by you or at least always be able to see you. He spends his day sleeping near his foster family while they work at home. Charlie shows no interest in playing with toys. He enjoys going outside and loves a fenced in yard. He is house trained but needs to be let out every few hours. His foster parents make sure to let him out before leaving the house and frequently throughout the day. He sleeps contently in his own bed at night but would love to sleep in his people’s bed if given the opportunity. Charlie enjoys looking out the patio window, scouting out invading birds and squirrels on the deck. He doesn’t bark much when his foster family is around but gets very excited when his foster family returns home. When the weather is warm, he likes to sit out on the deck with his foster family. He walks well on the leash and loves to go to the park. Charlie has had frequent ear infections in the past and his adopters must clean his ears once a week to prevent infection. An adults only home would suit him perfectly, although older children (older than 12 years), who are respectful, would be okay. Charlie has no teeth, so he eats small kibble or moist dog food and soft treats. He has some hearing loss and gets startled easily if touched from behind. He would be okay with another small dog in the house, and may rely on the other dog if his hearing continues to diminish. These are the requirements for Charlie’s new family: • A stay-at-home family, or a family where someone is home most of the day. Older children would be okay. • A fenced yard is a plus but not a requirement. He will explore the outdoors but should not be left alone outside. • A family that is willing to clean his ears once a week. • A family who lives within 30 miles of the Twin Cities. While Charlie is 13 years old, he will still bring many years of love and companionship to a family who will open their hearts to a senior dog. We hope his new family will plan to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion every year in September. Charlie is neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm and flea & tick preventative medication. Charlie’s adoption fee is $75.00 plus $6.39 sales tax for a total cost of $81.39. To meet Charlie, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at PETCO in Southtown Center in Bloomington.
