Story
Hi. I'm Wicket. My name means "small gate or door. Foster mom says that means I get to open my own doors and create my own opportunities for success. That sounds like a big deal for a guy like me who was found wandering the streets of San Antonio as a stray. Luckily for me, the nice rescue lady found me in the shelter on death row and knew I was looking for my big opportunity. She sprang me from there and took me to live with my foster siblings at her home. My life has been looking up ever since. I am a 12 pound, approximately 4 year old, male, shitsu ( possibly mixed). I am extremely friendly and love all people and other dogs. Not sure about cats. I am good on a leash and like to go on car rides and snuggle with my people. I am very playful and especially love squeaky toys and balls. I would do best in a home with an active family. I prefer to be in the house but will spend time outside if others are out there. I am crate trained and am still working on potty training with a doggy door. As you can see, I am an all around good fellow looking for his golden opportunity in life. If you are that opportunity, have your peeps call my peeps and let's get this love affair started. $350 local $600 out of state (includes transport & fuel)

Story
Yes, I am an old lady :) But us "older ladies" need lots of loving TOO! And, treats...don't' forget the treats! My life hasn't always been "treat filled", I likely was used as a "breeder" which in layman's terms means...someone too lazy to work used my uterus to earn a living.............. I had not been exposed to the finer things in life- like a real doggy bed, a food bowl that magically fills when I am out of food, treats that float in from the heavens and a loving foster mom and family who make sure I am safe from anything we deem a threat to my "inner peace" :) I am still getting used to being in a house- potty training in progress, I will go in my crate but will also "go" in my crate if not let out often enough. I am good with other dogs and kids but I am kind of a loner, lets face it i have only been living this wonderful life for a couple of weeks so once I adjust the inner DIVA will emerge :D I was found with a badly injured eye and it has been removed, so I am feeling so much better now without the pain of that eye.... I am a sweet older lady, looking for a family who will understand that I haven't been loved before and I am learning to really enjoy it!! ADOPT....DON'T SHOP!!!! DON'T ENCOURAGE BACKYARD BREEDERS LIKE GIGI'S "OWNERS" :( Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Muffin Top, the spirited pup named after the best part of the muffin! With a personality like a whirlwind of joy, Muffin Top was found locally in less-than-ideal circumstances. But with a fresh haircut and a newfound zest for life, she's now thriving and eager to find her forever home. Muffin is a young dog bursting with energy, still in full puppy mode with plenty of zoomies, playfulness, and a strong desire for snuggles. She would thrive with an active family who can match her enthusiasm and help her burn off that boundless energy. While she's a joy to be around, Muffin does have a tendency to bark at seemingly nothing in particular. Therefore, a home without shared walls would be ideal for her. She's made progress with potty training but will benefit from a structured routine, as she doesn't always signal when she needs to go out. Muffin lives with other dogs and gets along well with them. However, she sometimes struggles with respecting boundaries, as she always wants to play. She hasn't met a cat yet. Are you ready to welcome Muffin Top into your home and experience the fun and love she has to offer? Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? I will be at Nautical Bowls (5013 Ewing Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55410) for an Adoption Event on Saturday, June 22nd 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Hello, my name is Charleston! I am a dashing, calm, and very sweet senior male Shih Tzu who loves to sit on foster mom’s lap while she works. I’m not really into toys but I enjoy watching TV, sleeping in bed with mom at night, and I LOVE to eat food and treats, especially popcorn… YUUUMMM! Oh yea, I’m quite the dancer too! It’s true, in fact, I think my moves are better than Fred Astaire’s and I like to show off my dancing prowess whenever I want a treat or to be lifted onto the couch. By the way, I also did great at the groomer but then who doesn’t want to look all spiffy am I right!?! Anyway, I do not like being left alone and I hate the kennel/crate! As a matter of fact, I will bark in either of those situations so hopefully my new family will be home with me (and doesn’t have shared walls!). I am, however, good about doing my business outside on a schedule; I do well with the leash; and I’m great with kids, cats, and other small dogs like me. All I need now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. I’m a patient guy with a wonderful soul and a heart that is brimming with love that I want to share with you! I really hope you’ll be my new family…I assure you that life will be MUCH better if we share it together! Love, Charleston *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I'm Derby! I'm a 4-year-old female Shih-Tzu, weighing in at a perfect 15 pounds. I'm the epitome of calm and laid-back, and I absolutely love to snuggle up with my favorite blankets at home. Once I get to know you and trust you, I'll be your little shadow, happily following you around wherever you go. I am timid and shy when approached, but getting braver everyday. One of my absolute favorite things in the world is food—it's the quickest way to my heart! I'm doing great with potty and crate training – a little treat bribery helps! I do have a few fears. Thunderstorms, loud noises, children, and overwhelming commotion can make me quite anxious. Because of this, I'm not good with children under 12 years old and would do best in a calm, quiet home. We are working on leash training, but because I am fearful it would be nice to have a fenced yard as I need more practice with my outdoor explorations. I don't need to be placed in a home with another dog, but if there is another dog, I prefer smaller ones. Most importantly, I need my humans to be home most of the time because I thrive on companionship. I'm extremely sweet and lovable. Though I might be skittish at first, once I trust you, I'll show you just how loving and affectionate I can be. If you're looking for a calm, food-loving, snuggly companion who will adore you endlessly, I'm your girl! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi there! My name is Egg McMuffin, but you can just call me Eggy for short. I'm a 9-pound, two-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me tell you a bit about myself and why I'd be the perfect addition to your family. I’m super well-adjusted and have an extremely friendly, lovable, and silly nature. I get along fabulously with other dogs. My foster family has three small dogs, and we have a blast together. I think I’d be great with bigger dogs too, but I haven’t had the chance to meet many. I’m a pro at car rides and vet visits—I didn’t even get nervous! I love meeting new people and am always ready for some snuggles. If you pick me up, I’ll melt right into your arms. Recently, I’ve started doing these adorable zoomies around the house, trying to get my doggy friends to play with me. I’ve got a great personality and am pretty much perfect! When it comes to my favorite things, I absolutely love treats and food. Toys aren’t really my thing, but give me a bone, and I’ll be the happiest pup in the world. Just watch me, though, because I can chew them down to the nubs! I know a few commands like “Come,” “Outside,” and “Go Potty.” I’m excellent with other dogs and would definitely benefit from having a doggy sibling, but I’d also be fine as an only dog as long as I get lots of attention and exercise. I hardly bark, just a mild woof when someone comes over. I’m a happy, fun, and loving dog who would thrive in a home with respectful young kids who’d love to play with me. If my foster family wasn’t already full of dogs, they’d adopt me in a heartbeat. So, if you’re looking for a perfect little companion, look no further—I’m your girl, Egg McMuffin, ready to bring joy and love into your home! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.
