Zoey is a seven-month-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and sweet cuddle-bug charm. This adorable little girl is currently thriving in her foster home, where she spends her days playing fetch with neighborhood children, exploring the backyard, and curling up on the couch for snuggles at the end of the day. Zoey absolutely lights up when she hears kids nearby and happily runs along the fence to greet her neighborhood friends. She would love a forever home with a fenced yard where she can safely play, explore, and burn off some of her puppy energy. Like any young puppy, Zoey is still learning the ropes. She is smart, eager to please, and enjoys learning new things, but she will need a family committed to continuing her training and socialization. Puppy classes will help her build confidence and develop into a well-mannered adult dog. She already loves playing fetch — she’s just still working on the “bring it back” part! Zoey is also working on potty training and will need consistency, patience, and a regular routine to succeed. She currently goes outside every 3–4 hours and does best with a structured feeding and potty schedule. Daily walks help keep her happy and engaged. At night, Zoey sleeps peacefully in a crate beside her foster family’s bed, though she would happily trade that for a cozy spot snuggled up with her forever family. Zoey is looking for a loving home that understands puppy hood requires time, patience, and commitment — but the reward is a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship. If you’re searching for a playful, affectionate companion to grow with your family, Zoey may be the perfect match for you! Apply today to meet this sweet little girl! The following are requirements for Zoey’s adoption: 1. Since Zoey is still a puppy and small dogs can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the activity, care and comfort that Zoey will need for her entire life. 2. Someone who is home much of the day, since Zoey needs continued house training. She also thrives on the companionship of her humans. 3. A family who will actively participate in puppy training classes with Zoey and will provide the physical activity and stimulation that a puppy requires. Having a secure, fenced yard would be ideal. 4. Applications from a family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated an understanding of and have experience in gently interacting with a small dog will be considered since Zoey seems to really enjoy her interactions with children. 5. Live within 30 minutes of Fridley, MN. 6. Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September of each year. Zoey is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She is scheduled to be spayed June 23, 2026 and will be ready for her forever home after a short recovery period. We are currently accepting applications for her adoption and she can go to her new home once she has recovered from her spay surgery. Zoey’s adoption fee is $520.00 plus $46.93 in sales tax, for a total of $566.93. To meet Zoey, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month at the Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington.

Poppy is an adorable, sweet and smart Shih Tzu puppy who is very petite. We’re expecting that she will be around 5 pounds as an adult. She was born March 20, 2026, so she’s still a very young puppy. She’s mini but mighty. She has a big personality in that little body. She should have been named Dora, as in Dora the Explorer. She’s figured out that if her head fits any gap, she looks for those gaps in any enclosure, and slip right through them. She’s going to need an active family that can keep her busy and challenged. Poppy loves to play when she’s not looking for holes in the perimeter. She’s very good at jumping and working her way up onto things and displays no fear of heights, constantly trying to make it to the top of the back of the sofa. She’s very gifted in getting into spots you would not expect. She’s very friendly and her foster family feels she would do well with other small pets or respectful older children. Poppy is a bit of a trip hazard as she’s very tiny and stays very close to your feet, so you have to constantly keep an eye out for her. She also loves to cuddle on the couch next to your face and gives lots of kisses! These are the requirements for Poppy’s new family: 1. Because Shih Tzus can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care, activity and support for Poppy for her entire life. 2. A family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated how to gently and appropriately interact and care for a small dog will be considered. 3. A secure fenced yard would be great, but Poppy needs close supervision because she’s so curious. When she’s older she’ll enjoy daily walks. 4. Poppy will shine with training. She loves to learn new things and catches on quickly. Training classes are important and are highly recommended for her to bond, socialize and learn good manners. 5. A family where someone is home much of the day and night to continue her housetraining. Little puppies need to initially be taken out at least every two hours. 6. Provide lots of opportunities to socialize. Poppy would like to be an integral part of her new family’s life and will need lots of new experiences and challenges to grow into a well adjusted pup. 7. Live within 30 miles of Shoreview, MN. 8. Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year. Poppy has had her first puppy DAPP vaccination and is microchipped. Her adopters must provide required vaccinations as she becomes a bit older. Because she is too young to be spayed, her adopters must agree to have her spayed within six months, and pay a spay deposit which will be refunded upon proof of her spay surgery. The adoption fee for Waffles is $520.00 plus $46.93 sales tax and the additional refundable spay deposit of $150.00, for a total fee of $716.93. To meet Poppy, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Waffles is a very active and curious Shih Tzu puppy who is a beautiful shiny chestnut brown. Her personality is spunky and happy. She was born March 20, 2026 so she’s just a young puppy and is still sharing her life with her littermate brother and sister. While she’s the largest of her littermates, and usually the first to learn new things, we think she’ll grow to be a small ten pound girl like her mom. Waffles has an opinion and she’s going to let you know. She’s very vocal and has been learning to bark, whine and growl. She is very playful and displays daily zoomies and sometimes the pounces. She loves to follow you around and would really enjoy another small dog friend to play with. This is not a requirement but she does wear out her two littermates with plenty of energy to spare. She’s going to need an active family that can keep her busy and challenged. Waffles has a bit of a stubborn personality, and when called, she sometimes gives a look, asking “Why?” And you can tell she’s deciding if coming will result in what she wants or doesn’t want. She’s starting potty training and will pace and whine when she needs to go outside. But she sometimes unfortunately forgets why she’s outside because of all the interesting smells and rolling to do. In the evening before bed she really enjoys some lap time and snuggles next to you to sleep when she’s done with her lap time. Waffles is friendly and fun! We think she would do well with another small dog of equal energy and would benefit in playing and learning from them. She would also do well with respectful older children. These are the requirements for Waffles’ new family: 1. Because Shih Tzus can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care, activity and support for Waffles for her entire life. 2. A family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated how to gently and appropriately interact and care for a small dog will be considered. 3. A secure fenced yard would be great, but Waffles needs close supervision because she’s so curious. When she’s older she’ll enjoy daily walks. 4. Waffles will shine with training. Meet Violet! This adorable, young Shih Tzu/Bichon mix is a social girl who loves to play, play, play. She was born March 9th, so is still a very young puppy. She weighs about 6 pounds. She is elated to hang out with her humans and always loves to cuddle. Due to her effervescent personality and love of other dogs, she would do best in a home with another playful small dog. She is fearless around her two Shih Tzu foster sisters who are 11 and 12 pounds. She is incredibly sweet, smart and curious. She follows her humans closely and is always ready for a petting or rub. Violet is still learning to go potty outside, and her new family must be willing to help her become fully house trained. She has never been left alone, and her adopters must help her ease her into times when they will be gone. She loves to have her people often around. She does not like a kennel, and we do not recommend that a kennel be used for housetraining purposes or for when she is left alone. She always enjoys snuggling on the couch or being next to her human in bed. Because Violet is still a young puppy, she will need a family who is committed to basic puppy training, potty training reinforcement, and gentle guidance as she grows. With patience and continued socialization, Violet is sure to flourish and be the best of companions! She loves her food and is very food motivated. We haven’t found a treat she doesn’t like, which helps as a reward with her training. Violet is talkative! She barks when playing, when she sees animals outside, or if someone is at the door. Because she is a bit vocal, it would be best if her adopter lives in a single family home rather than an apartment or townhouse with shared walls. She will definitely bark, and this would not be acceptable in such a home. Violet's musts - exercise and mental stimulation! These are needed for her to feel happy, safe and comfortable. As an active and energetic pup, this girl needs a long, brisk daily walk, especially if she doesn’t have a playmate. She also loves tug-of-war and fetch and lots of interactive playtime. While a fence isn't required, she would love the freedom to roam and run in a secure yard while under the supervision of her new parents. If you're looking for a canine family member that will be sure to make you smile look no further. Violet will melt your heart with love and affection. Her ears perk up adorably when she hears something interesting – especially you! - and has an endless supply of kisses. The following are requirements for Violet’s future family: · Because small breed dogs can live 16+ years, applications will be accepted only from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide activity, care and support for Violet for her entire life. · Violet hasn't been exposed much to kids so we are unsure how she would do. Applications will be considered if there are children in the home over the age of ten and if they have had previous experience in gently interacting with small dogs. · A family who is patient, home most of the day and will continue Violet’s house training and leash training, and will expose her to new dog appropriate experiences. · Provide Violet with plenty of daily exercise and stimulation, including walks and supervised time in the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal. · Violet would be fine being an only dog but she would thrive living with another small dog in the home who has similar energy. Because Violet can be a bit vocal, it would be best if she not live in an apartment or townhouse with shared walls so that she doesn’t disturb other occupants. · Live within 30 minutes of Minneapolis. · Agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Violet is current on puppy vaccinations and is microchipped. However, she is too young to be spayed at this time. The adopter must sign an agreement to have her spayed within six months of adopting and must pay an additional spay deposit fee of $150.00, which will be refunded upon proof of her being spayed. Violet’s adoption fee is $520.00 plus sales tax of $46.93, and the refundable spay deposit of $150.00 for a total fee of $716.93. If you think Violet might be a great fit for your family, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington.

Story
Winnie is a 7-year-old, 10 lb Poodle mix who is looking for a patient, loving home where he can feel safe and supported. He’s a shy little guy at first, but once he gets to know you, he becomes incredibly loving and wants to be near his people as much as possible. In fact, he’s happiest when he plays fetch with his favorite fox toy and happily curls up close with his foster family at the end of a long day.Winnie is working on house training and has not yet been introduced to walking on a leash. He is not crate-trained due to separation anxiety. He has a surprisingly big bark for such a small dog, but once picked up, he's a happy camper.Winnie would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time — someone who works from home, a retired household, or a home where people come and go throughout the day. With the right environment, and patient humans who will let him move at his own pace, Winnie will blossom into your new best friend! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $100.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi my name is Riggy Moe and I am from Minnesota! Riggy Moe is a Senior dog, she is very sweet and adorable!! She is full of personality and she is a social gal as she likes to make new friends. She does great with my other dogs as well. She also likes going for walks when the weather is nice. She is doing well with her housetraining and her crate training, I recently have let her run of my bedroom, kitchen and she has been doing well with that. She is used to sleeping on my bed with me as I have doggy stairs for her to use and she definitely let you know her place is on the bed, I affectionately call her my Sassy Princess! She is a wonderful companion dog who already has me wrapped around her little paw as I just adore her! From the Vet: Ms. Riggy Moe is a spunky senior gal ready to find her final forever home for her golden years. She has a history of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) and requires lifelong medication to keep her eyes comfortable and healthy. Her adopter will need to maintain consistent treatment and establish care with their primary veterinarian for ongoing eye management and monitoring. She has undergone extensive dental care, including numerous tooth extractions, to ensure her mouth is now healthy and pain-free. Upon arrival, Riggy Moe was underweight. After reaching a healthy weight, she successfully underwent surgery to repair a luxated (dislocated) left hip. She has recovered well, but her adopter should monitor her joint health long-term and keep her at a healthy weight to support mobility and comfort.
