Story
MeeMawFemalePoodleDOB: 12/04/2015Adoption fee: $150Meemaw is an older lady who is looking for someone she can spend her days relaxing with! She doesn't ask for much, just someone to love her! She would love a nice bed or couch to cuddle on and spend time with you! She loves attention and likes to get her back scratched! She enjoys sunbathing, but doesn't care to be outside by herself for long periods of time. Meemaw would do better in a more calm environment, that will be easy for everyone to adjust to. If you think she is the couch potato for you, come by and meet her! Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. For more information on any of our pets, please feel free to email us at INFO@HUMANEMORGAN.ORG give us a call at 706-343-9977. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are FeLv/FIV negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Thank you, HSMC Staff ADOPTION FEES Adoption Fees may change without notice. Meet Lexi 🐾Lexi is a beautiful doodle mix with a soft, fluffy coat and an even softer heart. This sweet girl absolutely loves attention — whether it’s belly rubs, gentle brushing, or simply being by your side, Lexi thrives when she’s surrounded by love.Right now, Lexi is high heartworm positive and needs a committed foster home where she can safely go through her heartworm treatment. She’ll need a calm, supportive environment to rest and recover, along with someone who can help her through the process with patience and care. The good news? With proper treatment and time, heartworm disease is treatable, and she deserves that chance. To keep her gorgeous coat healthy and mat-free, Lexi will need monthly grooming appointments and weekly brushing at home. Grooming time is also a wonderful way to bond with her — she’ll happily soak up every bit of that one-on-one attention.Lexi is ready to give her whole heart to someone willing to help her heal. She doesn’t ask for much — just a safe place to land, a gentle hand, and plenty of love while she gets back to feeling her best. 💕Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. Meet Kelce 🐾Kelce is a truly special girl with the sweetest soul. Though she is both blind and deaf, she doesn’t let that stop her from living a life full of love. She experiences the world through gentle touch, familiar scents, and the comforting presence of her people.Kelce is incredibly affectionate and thrives on closeness. She loves soft blankets, belly rubs, and simply being near someone she trusts. Because she can’t see or hear, she builds deep bonds through routine, patience, and kindness. Once she knows you’re there, her whole body wiggles with pure joy.To keep her beautiful coat healthy and shining, Kelce will need monthly grooming appointments and weekly brushing at home. Regular grooming not only keeps her looking her best, but it also gives her extra bonding time and helps her feel safe and cared for.Kelce may need a little extra understanding, but what she gives in return is unconditional love beyond measure. All she wants is a warm lap, a gentle touch, and someone who will remind her every single day that she is safe, cherished, and home. 💗Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. Story
Meet Gracie! Gracie is an amazing WeimerDoodle! She's actually the littermate of Sammy, Mo, and Max who we have also had available for adoption. Their mom was a purebred Weimaraner and their dad was a purebred Standard Poodle.   Gracie is a sweet, smart, and energetic girl who also has a sensitive side. She's doing great with crate training and house training and loves playing with other dogs! More than anything though Gracie enjoys being right by her person's side. Gracie is looking for a family with at least one other active, playful dog in the home and bonus points for families with children and an adult that is home frequently- a stay at home parent or work from home situation would be her dream come true! Interested in adopting sweet beautiful Gracie? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org ##2662560##

Story
Meet Teagan!  Earlier in the year we rescued Tate and Truman, 2 standard poodles, along with a poodle mix puppy from Upson County after they had been surrendered to animal control. A couple of weeks ago, we found out the same family had just surrendered 3 more standard poodles. We really take the “You don’t leave family behind” philosophy seriously, so even though it had been months since we saved the first group and we REALLY don’t have room for more dogs - we knew we had to save these guys! Teller was in the worst shape. He was completely matted and caked in mud. And his poor eyes so infected. It took hours to get him cleaned up. If you’ve ever had to shave down a severely matted dog, you’ll know it’s very similar to sheering a sheep - the hair just comes off in one huge piece. Thankfully, the girls Tiggy and Teagan, had been groomed before at some point and were in much better shape.  Our unconfirmed theory is that Teagan (grey) is mom to Teller (black) and Tiggy (blonde). Teller and Tiggy both appear to be about a year old so we think they are probably littermates. Teagan is about 2-3 years old - still young herself. All three of these amazing poodles are super super sweet; great with dogs of all sizes; and cats!! Sweet Teagan was even trying to play with our special little NeuroSpicy girl Sofia on her first night!  These guys are all looking for tried and true Standard Poodle homes. To know poodles is to love them, but these 3 have all been failed by humans once and we won’t let that happen again - so we really do want homes that know all the good, bad, and ugly that comes with having Standard Poodles as family members. Does that sound like you?? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org PLEASE NOTE: Prior first hand ownership experience with Standard Poodles is a strict requirement to adopt. Must live in Metro Atlanta and have at least one other playful dog in the home  ##2579219##
