Meet Tiggy! Earlier in the year we rescued Tate and Truman, 2 standard poodles, along with a poodle mix puppy from Upson County after they had been surrendered to animal control. A couple of weeks ago, we found out the same family had just surrendered 3 more standard poodles. We really take the “You don’t leave family behind” philosophy seriously, so even though it had been months since we saved the first group and we REALLY don’t have room for more dogs - we knew we had to save these guys! Teller was in the worst shape. He was completely matted and caked in mud. And his poor eyes so infected. It took hours to get him cleaned up. If you’ve ever had to shave down a severely matted dog, you’ll know it’s very similar to sheering a sheep - the hair just comes off in one huge piece. Thankfully, the girls Tiggy and Teagan, had been groomed before at some point and were in much better shape. Our unconfirmed theory is that Teagan (grey) is mom to Teller (black) and Tiggy (blonde). Teller and Tiggy both appear to be about a year old so we think they are probably littermates. All three of these amazing poodles are super super sweet; great with dogs of all sizes; and cats!! These guys are all looking for tried and true Standard Poodle homes. To know poodles is to love them, but these 3 have all been failed by humans once and we won’t let that happen again - so we really do want homes that know all the good, bad, and ugly that comes with having Standard Poodles as family members. Meet Marley. A hypoallergenic parti-colored standard poodle, purebred for allergy sufferers. Marley had 1 litter, now spayed. She is gentle, fun, playful and quiet unless alerting owner to an issue. She loves hugs, kisses, massages, sing-songs, running at dog parks and socializing. Marley communicates when hungry, thirsty or needs to potty. She is athletic, smart, solves puzzles. She got along with our family. When alone, she needs a sitter, daycare or meds for separation anxiety or thunderstorms. She will do best in a home with a 6' wood fenced yard area and owner who is with her most times ie ESA, service animal, retiree or work from home. With training, Marley can overcome her anxiety. Meet Curly! He is an 11 months old, 40 lb poodle mix who is very sweet and friendly. He is very playful and loves to play with other dogs. He is getting used to his crate but doesn't like to be left alone for very long. He knows how to sit and is very motivated with treats. He is very smart and will be easy to train. He is still growing and has a lot of puppy energy but also loves to sleep in your lap. He gets very excited and likes to jump so we are working better manners. Curly is very vocal so you will know when someone is at the door! He is great with kids and very gentle when taking treats. He is doing great going potty outside but needs to be let out often. Curly will be such a sweet, cuddly family dog. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application.
