Story
Meet Denver – a beautiful, intelligent standard poodle who deserves a calm and loving home where he can thrive as the only dog. • Breed: Standard Poodle • Sex: Male • Neutered: no • Age: 2.5 • Color: black • House-trained: Yes • Temperament: Smart, loyal, and affectionate with people. • Good with other dogs: Prefers to be the only dog – not getting along with our other male dog. • Ideal home: A house with no other dogs, ideally with someone who understands the poodle breed and can give him the attention he needs. A fenced yard is a plus. • Rehoming fee: None – I’m only interested in the right home. • Updates: I would love occasional updates to know he’s doing well. This boy is a true companion — he just needs a home where he doesn’t have to compete with another dominant dog. He’s well-behaved in the house and will make a loyal friend to the right person or family. If you’re interested, please message me.

Story
Hi there! I’m Kuromi — a tiny pup with a huge heart and an even bigger love for playtime. I’m looking for a forever family, and I think you might be the one! I am a Doodle girl born around 9/26 and weigh around 8 lbs&#226&#156&#168 A little about me: I love to play ALL the time — squeaky toys, tug toys, you name it! I’m also very brave… I’m not even scared of the vacuum (I know, impressive). When I’m not playing, I’m usually eating or snoozing. It’s a pretty great routine. My Favorite Things: Giving kisses and snuggling close Following my human everywhere they go (yes, everywhere) Welcoming you back when you return from the bathroom — I miss you, okay? Why you’ll love me: I’m sweet, loyal, cuddly, and ready to be your best friend. I may be small now, but I promise to fill your home with love, laughter, and lots of tiny paw steps. If you’re looking for a playful shadow who loves with her whole heart, I can’t wait to meet you!   The adoption fee of $650 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. Hi, I’m Chrissy the labradoodle!! All I want for Christmas is a family to call my very own. At 8 weeks old and 6.5lbs, I am growing fast and so smart! I love to explore, play with my giant foster brothers and try new snackies! When I am tired, I find a cozy spot in my crate and sneak in a nap. My fur is very soft and a little more flat than my siblings, so I consider myself lower maintenance. I think I would have a blast with an active family that could take me on adventures and keep me busy. I am very inquisitive and pick up on routines very fast. I cannot wait to have my very own home. Hoping to make a very lucky family have theMerriest Chrissy-mas ever!! Story
6 y.o., 20 pound, housetrained neutered Miniature Poodle/Pomeranian Mix Carl is a wonderful little fellow who makes a great companion once you earn his trust. Carl often lies with his foster grandpa while he watches TV. With people he is comfortable with, Carl shows he is a friendly, affectionate, playful dog who (naturally) loves his treats, those made specifically for dogs or broccoli, carrots or cauliflower. Our vet estimates that Carl is approximately 6 years old. We know virtually nothing about Carl’s past. He was picked up as a stray & taken to the local animal control as a scared boy who did not want to be touched. It took days for him to decompress in a foster home. Carl likes to chase thrown balls. He doesn’t often return them. He chases, picks them up, turns & waits for you to throw another. He also likes to chew on sticks. Carl’s anxiety is with unknown humans encountered outside his yard, not dogs. Carl gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home & has shown interest in other dogs he has met. Carl has quickly become friends with a few people who met him at his foster home & strictly followed our meeting protocol. Once he gets to know & trust you, you remain his friend, even after you leave him at the vet for a procedure. Carl does love his foster grandpa. While Carl is quite fond of sitting or lying on his foster grandpa on the couch, he needs & loves to run and play. A small dog secure fenced yard is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY for Carl. Carl likes to spend significant time outside every day. Carl likes car rides & to explore on a leash walk. Carl will often bark at strangers, but calms down when not forced to interact. When he senses no danger, he will willingly walk with strangers with or without dogs. In the company of people he does not know, Carl naturally seeks reassurance from his foster grandpa. Do not expect Carl to go out in the rain, without you attached to his leash. Carl needs an active & patient adopter without children with whom he can thrive. While prospective adopters’ children & Carl may form a mutual admiration society, it’s too much to expect their friends to understand just how different Carl’s fear makes his behavior. Carl’s trust in his foster grandpa has since achieved a level where his foster grandpa now shaves & cuts Carl’s coarse curls over a span of several days. Prior to that, Carl had to be sedated, completely knocked out to be groomed every 2 months. For nail trims, his foster grandpa puts a cloth muzzle on Carl & holds him while the vet tech snips as Carl does his best to get away. We encourage you to see & learn more about Carl on his public Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61563018184933, or search FB on Carl Heather’s Foster Dogs. If you are considering adding Carl to your family, please think about the unusual consequences of Carl’s fear of strangers. You are going to have to have a minimal stress strategy for grooming. You are going to have to figure out how periodic veterinary exams & vaccinations can be safely navigated. What will be the solution if Carl needs to be left in someone else’s care? You will be responsible for dealing successfully with such issues, not your vet, your groomer or anyone else. Carl is housetrained, neutered & microchipped as well as up to date on his vaccinations & monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventatives. Half of Carl’s $400 adoption fee has been sponsored. If you believe Carl is for you, then using the menu at the top of the page, click on “Adoption Application” to find our electronic application. Submit your completed application & you will be contacted. Submit your completed application & you will be contacted. No meetings will be scheduled without a reviewed application. Story
Hi, I’m Cookie, a 1 year old, 10 pound spayed Female Poodle mix. THE GOOD. I LOVE people. I’ve met a bunch of new folks since being in foster and like everyone. I’ve only met one kid - she’s 8 but yup liked her as well. I’m a very easy going girl. So a lot of small kids might be too much but I seem to be fine with kids in general. Dogs I’m fine with, both playful and if we get chill. I met some kittens and I was curious but fine. So cats would be fine, I love to chew on bones or play with toys. I love to snuggle, but I like to be picked up to get on the couch or bed. If not picked up just have a dog bed close &I’ll just hang out in that. THE BAD. I was surrendered for not being housetrained. While we are working on it, I’m only part way. I have scheduled potty breaks and my foster mom comes out to make sure I stop playing and go potty. I have a crate. My foster mom uses the divider to keep me on track and I’ve been doing really well. THE UGLY. Grooming. When I came to foster care, I was very matted. I was quite a little stinker when they cleaned me up. So we don’t know if it was the matts were hurting or I was just scared of the process. I might be a stinker till I get comfortable with grooming. Cookie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped & current on heartworm & flea preventatives. Cookie’s adoption fee is $495. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, then go to our website, heathersfosterdogs.org. Using the menu at the top of the page, click on Adoption Application. Complete & submit your application, which will serve as the basis for a conversation, & you will be contacted. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters for Cookie only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago.
