Story
Meet Denver – a beautiful, intelligent standard poodle who deserves a calm and loving home where he can thrive as the only dog. • Breed: Standard Poodle • Sex: Male • Neutered: no • Age: 2.5 • Color: black • House-trained: Yes • Temperament: Smart, loyal, and affectionate with people. • Good with other dogs: Prefers to be the only dog – not getting along with our other male dog. • Ideal home: A house with no other dogs, ideally with someone who understands the poodle breed and can give him the attention he needs. A fenced yard is a plus. • Rehoming fee: None – I’m only interested in the right home. • Updates: I would love occasional updates to know he’s doing well. This boy is a true companion — he just needs a home where he doesn’t have to compete with another dominant dog. He’s well-behaved in the house and will make a loyal friend to the right person or family. If you’re interested, please message me.

Story
Meet Hershey! Hershey is an 11 month old, 35 lb poodle looking for his furrever home. He was unfortunately hit by a car and needs hip surgery, but once that is done he is ready to be with his people!  He absolutely loves to play with his toys, and has such a goofy personality! He loves people so much, that he will be by your side no matter what! Consider adopting this poor baby who has been through too much already at such a young age. He’s definitely worth being part of your family forever.   Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $600 will include his surgery and any follow up, spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
**WALTER IS ADOPTED!** Are you an adventurous soul seeking a four-legged friend to join your adventures? Look no further than Walter, an energetic and playful pup who is always up for a good time! This curious and intelligent 8-month-old Standard Poodle is eager to explore the world and won't rest until he's sniffed out every secret spot on your next camping trip. Walter found his way to Pal's Place after being surrendered to a local veterinary clinic when his previous guardians realized they weren't prepared to handle the commitment that comes with caring for a young puppy. An untreated skin infection he developed as a very young pup has left some superficial scarring on his face, and we are unsure if those areas will ever re-grow fur. Walter doesn't seem to mind one bit, though, and he actually thinks the scarring makes him look cool and gives him some street cred. Walter is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dogs and is always up for a game of fetch or a good old-fashioned belly rub. He's an outgoing, fun-loving goofball with a heart of gold and an endless supply of enthusiasm. He's the perfect companion for those who want an active and curious buddy to join them on hikes, runs, bike rides, or even just a trip to the park. With his boundless energy and playful spirit, Walter will keep you on your toes and bring endless laughter into your life. He loves other dogs and thrives in their company. He will do best in a home with at least one other playful dog as a companion. Walter likes to use his voice and can be a chatty Cathy at times, so no apartments, condos, or units that share walls with neighbors. We love to hear his stories and all about his day, but your neighbors may not. Walter is still working on his basic obedience and manners, as he'd much rather goof off and enjoy life than pay attention in his training sessions. His ideal guardians will be willing, prepared, and expectant of continuing his obedience education. Puppy shenanigans are still a regular occurrence with Walt. Guardians with a sense of humor and a bit of patience are a must! He is crate-trained and does well with his house training when taken out regularly. If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate adventure buddy, Walter is your dog. Come and meet him today, and let the adventures begin! Walter is being fostered in Chicago and a meeting can be arranged by appointment once an application has been submitted and approved for adoption. His adoption fee to the rescue is $475. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and started on monthly flea and heartworm preventatives. • For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply to adopt unless you are ready to welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE RESCUE MAY END UP IN YOUR SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. • Walter's adoption fee is $475. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Walter from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam or junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there. We are a volunteer-run organization, and we strive to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. However, please be patient, as it can sometimes take longer for a reply.

Story
Buffy came to us from our shelter friends in Kentucky. She is 12 weeks old and looking for her forever home. She will be a medium to large sized dogs as we know their mom was a standard poodle and dad was a black lab. With that being said please keep that in mind when thinking about if you would like to adopt! - She is not potty trained at this time. She was working on pee pad training and have started outside potty training recently. So adopters will be expected to be patient and consistent. - Her first few days could be a little rough as it would be for most dogs, but thankfully she is in her own foster homes, working on crate training and building confidence. - She is amazing with kids and anytime she sees a little friend her tail wags endlessly. - She has met dogs of all different sizes and have done so well. She is confident, playful and though she doesn't need another dog in her household we want to ensure that her forever home continues to socialize her so she continues to stay this way! - She will also require grooming and brushing so please make sure that time wise and financially this is something you have thought about. She is currently being fostered in Chicago and accepting applications in or within 3 hours of Chicago. Her adoption fees include her age appropriate vaccines, spay, multiple rounds of dewormer, first round of prevention (flea, tick, and heartworm) and microchips. If you’re interested in learning more about her please apply directly www. chicagorescueauthority.org.

Story
6 y.o., 20 pound, housetrained neutered Miniature Poodle/Pomeranian Mix Carl is a wonderful little fellow who makes a great companion once you earn his trust. Carl often lies with his foster grandpa while he watches TV. With people he is comfortable with, Carl shows he is a friendly, affectionate, playful dog who (naturally) loves his treats, those made specifically for dogs or broccoli, carrots or cauliflower. Our vet estimates that Carl is approximately 6 years old. We know virtually nothing about Carl’s past. He was picked up as a stray & taken to the local animal control as a scared boy who did not want to be touched. It took days for him to decompress in a foster home. Carl likes to chase thrown balls. He doesn’t often return them. He chases, picks them up, turns & waits for you to throw another. He also likes to chew on sticks. Carl’s anxiety is with unknown humans encountered outside his yard, not dogs. Carl gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home & has shown interest in other dogs he has met. Carl has quickly become friends with a few people who met him at his foster home & strictly followed our meeting protocol. Once he gets to know & trust you, you remain his friend, even after you leave him at the vet for a procedure. Carl does love his foster grandpa. While Carl is quite fond of sitting or lying on his foster grandpa on the couch, he needs & loves to run and play. A small dog secure fenced yard is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY for Carl. Carl likes to spend significant time outside every day. Carl likes car rides & to explore on a leash walk. Carl will often bark at strangers, but calms down when not forced to interact. When he senses no danger, he will willingly walk with strangers with or without dogs. In the company of people he does not know, Carl naturally seeks reassurance from his foster grandpa. Do not expect Carl to go out in the rain, without you attached to his leash. Carl needs an active & patient adopter without children with whom he can thrive. While prospective adopters’ children & Carl may form a mutual admiration society, it’s too much to expect their friends to understand just how different Carl’s fear makes his behavior. Carl’s trust in his foster grandpa has since achieved a level where his foster grandpa now shaves & cuts Carl’s coarse curls over a span of several days. Prior to that, Carl had to be sedated, completely knocked out to be groomed every 2 months. For nail trims, his foster grandpa puts a cloth muzzle on Carl & holds him while the vet tech snips as Carl does his best to get away. We encourage you to see & learn more about Carl on his public Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61563018184933, or search FB on Carl Heather’s Foster Dogs. If you are considering adding Carl to your family, please think about the unusual consequences of Carl’s fear of strangers. You are going to have to have a minimal stress strategy for grooming. You are going to have to figure out how periodic veterinary exams & vaccinations can be safely navigated. What will be the solution if Carl needs to be left in someone else’s care? You will be responsible for dealing successfully with such issues, not your vet, your groomer or anyone else. Carl is housetrained, neutered & microchipped as well as up to date on his vaccinations & monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventatives. Half of Carl’s $400 adoption fee has been sponsored. If you believe Carl is for you, then using the menu at the top of the page, click on “Adoption Application” to find our electronic application. Submit your completed application & you will be contacted. Submit your completed application & you will be contacted. No meetings will be scheduled without a reviewed application. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters for Carl only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Story
Hi, I’m Cookie, a 1 year old, 10 pound spayed Female Poodle mix. THE GOOD. I LOVE people. I’ve met a bunch of new folks since being in foster and like everyone. I’ve only met one kid - she’s 8 but yup liked her as well. I’m a very easy going girl. So a lot of small kids might be too much but I seem to be fine with kids in general. Dogs I’m fine with, both playful and if we get chill. I met some kittens and I was curious but fine. So cats would be fine, I love to chew on bones or play with toys. I love to snuggle, but I like to be picked up to get on the couch or bed. If not picked up just have a dog bed close &I’ll just hang out in that. THE BAD. I was surrendered for not being housetrained. While we are working on it, I’m only part way. I have scheduled potty breaks and my foster mom comes out to make sure I stop playing and go potty. I have a crate. My foster mom uses the divider to keep me on track and I’ve been doing really well. THE UGLY. Grooming. When I came to foster care, I was very matted. I was quite a little stinker when they cleaned me up. So we don’t know if it was the matts were hurting or I was just scared of the process. I might be a stinker till I get comfortable with grooming. Cookie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped & current on heartworm & flea preventatives. Cookie’s adoption fee is $495. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, then go to our website, heathersfosterdogs.org. Using the menu at the top of the page, click on Adoption Application. Complete & submit your application, which will serve as the basis for a conversation, & you will be contacted. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters for Cookie only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago.
