If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   This dog is a 4-5 year old female Standard Poodle who weighs in at 48.8 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $600.  If you are still interested, please read more below. This girl’s name is actually Nella. She came to us as a male, 1 year old, golden doodle named Lenny, but surprise she is a girl! The vet also believes she is actually a standard poodle and about 4-5 years old. She is a very gentle, sweet girl, but still very scared of life. She likes to stay in her spot all day unless she goes for a walk. She does great walking on leash, and she loves to walk her same path everyday, multiple times a day! She also loves any sort of edible chew toy that you give her. Nella girl loves to be brushed; it puts her right to sleep!! Because we don’t know her exact story, we have been learning some of her triggers as we go. She is still very nervous with just about everything! It will take her time to settle in. We think there must have been some trauma for her with cars, because she is still nervous around them. She prefers women and has adjusted better to women in the house versus men. Nella has very specific routines that she likes to follow, but she is a very sweet girl!! She would do best in a home without kids, because she likes to be in a quiet, peaceful environment. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they happily ignore her, but she isn’t one for really engaging with them. If you have the time, patience, and love to let her settle in on her own time, she would be a great dog for you! She is fully crate-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained! **WALTER IS ADOPTED!** Are you an adventurous soul seeking a four-legged friend to join your adventures? Look no further than Walter, an energetic and playful pup who is always up for a good time! This curious and intelligent 8-month-old Standard Poodle is eager to explore the world and won't rest until he's sniffed out every secret spot on your next camping trip. Walter found his way to Pal's Place after being surrendered to a local veterinary clinic when his previous guardians realized they weren't prepared to handle the commitment that comes with caring for a young puppy. An untreated skin infection he developed as a very young pup has left some superficial scarring on his face, and we are unsure if those areas will ever re-grow fur. Walter doesn't seem to mind one bit, though, and he actually thinks the scarring makes him look cool and gives him some street cred. Walter is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dogs and is always up for a game of fetch or a good old-fashioned belly rub. He's an outgoing, fun-loving goofball with a heart of gold and an endless supply of enthusiasm. He's the perfect companion for those who want an active and curious buddy to join them on hikes, runs, bike rides, or even just a trip to the park. With his boundless energy and playful spirit, Walter will keep you on your toes and bring endless laughter into your life. He loves other dogs and thrives in their company. He will do best in a home with at least one other playful dog as a companion. Walter likes to use his voice and can be a chatty Cathy at times, so no apartments, condos, or units that share walls with neighbors. We love to hear his stories and all about his day, but your neighbors may not. Walter is still working on his basic obedience and manners, as he'd much rather goof off and enjoy life than pay attention in his training sessions. His ideal guardians will be willing, prepared, and expectant of continuing his obedience education. Puppy shenanigans are still a regular occurrence with Walt. Guardians with a sense of humor and a bit of patience are a must! He is crate-trained and does well with his house training when taken out regularly. These seven pups were brought to one of our partners as an unwanted litter after their family could no longer care for them. These puppies are friendly, smart, and eager to please. They have started leash training and are doing very well. During their time with us, they have gotten along great with our staff, volunteers, and other dogs. They co-house peacefully and enjoy both playtime and settling in for quiet moments.Two of the pups recently attended an adoption event and absolutely loved meeting new people—they soaked up the attention and handled the busy environment beautifully.They would do well in an active home, with a yard to explore, or with families that have older children. Sundae is a standard poodle puppy born 9/15/24 . He is a spirited little guy who will start out a bit shy. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and dogs not have the same puppy experiences a dog might have that was born in your home. He wasn't exposed to the same things at an early age. That being said, he is learning and adjusting well now that he is with us but he will need a patient family to go slowly and let him gain his trust.. He will blossom with time and patience. Sundae needs a home with a secure fenced in yard for his potty place, He is not a dog for an apartment or condo setting. He must have a home with another dog buddy to show him the ropes and give him confidence, Dogs born in commercial breeding facilities understand dogs better than people, A respectful adult dog will give him a lead to follow, He loves to play with his mate. He will need house training and regular training like any puppy would. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Marshmallow important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Sundae is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $1200.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Sundae wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits.
