Meet Cammie!! Have you ever wanted a standard poodle without having to go through the puppy stages? This is the girl for you!! She is an absolutely wonderful dog and comes preloaded with extra commands such as "sit" and "shake". Cammie is a well-behaved young lady who gets along with her peers, dogs and cats alike. She also walks well on a leash, is house trained, and is heart worm negative. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Hi, I`m Abe Lincoln. I`ve been told I`m a pretty special guy—calm, well-mannered, and easy to live with.I`m very much a creature of routine. It took me a few days to settle into eating in my foster home, but once my bowl was moved closer to the dining table, everything clicked. Now I happily eat whenever my people sit down for meals or snacks. I like being part of the action.Every morning starts the same way: I go out to the enclosed backyard to take care of business, then I come back inside and wait patiently by the refrigerator for my treat. That said, if you sit on the couch and call me over, I`ll choose snuggles over snacks every time.I love my dog bed so much that I have two of them. During the day, I like to relax downstairs, keeping an eye on things. At night, I head upstairs and sleep peacefully in whichever bedroom my bed is in. I`m flexible, as long as I`m comfortable and close by.I spend time with my foster`s three-and-a-half-year-old grandson, who visits often. He`s loud and still learning how to be gentle, but I`m endlessly patient with him.I do have a strong interest in squirrels—they`re very exciting, and I`ll bark and try to chase them. I don`t have any other canine companions in my foster home. While I may bark at other dogs, I did live with a small senior dog in my prior home, and I have met bigger dogs before and have done well with a proper introduction. I have also lived with a Cockatiel bird and tolerated it very well out of the cage and even sitting next to me on the couch!I’m well-trained, polite, and eager to please, and I’m not destructive. I respond best to calm guidance and consistency. I’ve made great progress with leash walking and continue to improve every day. I’m comfortable being handled and truly enjoy grooming, baths, and brushing—regular grooming helps me look and feel my best and is a required part of owning a true poodle like myself. Once I’m freshly brushed, I can’t help but strut around proudly!I do have some protective instincts that my future family should understand. I can resource guard my person on walks, am very wary of strangers in the yard, and can react by dashing toward the door when delivery drivers arrive. Because of this, I need a confident, experienced owner who can provide structure and clear guidance.My ideal home is a quieter environment without a lot of constant in-and-out activity. While I’ve done well in my foster home, I truly thrive in a more predictable setting

Meet Archie, an adorable and goofy 25lb, 5-year-old male, who is guessed to be a Poodle/Schnauzer type mix. He was found as a stray and sadly went unclaimed. He was adopted from animal control, but unfortunately the other dog in the home did not like him, so they surrendered Archie to us. Archie is playful and loves going on walks, sniffing around, and being with people. He's a sweet guy who just wants to be with someone. He is very treat motivated and knows "sit." He has done well for grooming/brushing for our staff. Archie is not a fan of being crated but he has made progress and is manageable to crate for necessary crating such as vet/grooming appoints. Archie is looking for a patient home to allow him to decompress and relax, so he can show his sweet, silly personality! He would do best in a home with no young children or cats. While he is dog friendly, he is not a fan of sharing his stuff with them, so would do best as the only pup in the home.Archie is healing up from FHO surgery he had in March, which is going very well! His recheck is coming up, where we will know more about what the remaining time to heal will look like.

**WALTER IS ADOPTED!** Are you an adventurous soul seeking a four-legged friend to join your adventures? Look no further than Walter, an energetic and playful pup who is always up for a good time! This curious and intelligent 8-month-old Standard Poodle is eager to explore the world and won't rest until he's sniffed out every secret spot on your next camping trip. Walter found his way to Pal's Place after being surrendered to a local veterinary clinic when his previous guardians realized they weren't prepared to handle the commitment that comes with caring for a young puppy. An untreated skin infection he developed as a very young pup has left some superficial scarring on his face, and we are unsure if those areas will ever re-grow fur. Walter doesn't seem to mind one bit, though, and he actually thinks the scarring makes him look cool and gives him some street cred. Walter is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dogs and is always up for a game of fetch or a good old-fashioned belly rub. He's an outgoing, fun-loving goofball with a heart of gold and an endless supply of enthusiasm. He's the perfect companion for those who want an active and curious buddy to join them on hikes, runs, bike rides, or even just a trip to the park. With his boundless energy and playful spirit, Walter will keep you on your toes and bring endless laughter into your life. He loves other dogs and thrives in their company. He will do best in a home with at least one other playful dog as a companion. Walter likes to use his voice and can be a chatty Cathy at times, so no apartments, condos, or units that share walls with neighbors. We love to hear his stories and all about his day, but your neighbors may not. Walter is still working on his basic obedience and manners, as he'd much rather goof off and enjoy life than pay attention in his training sessions. His ideal guardians will be willing, prepared, and expectant of continuing his obedience education. Puppy shenanigans are still a regular occurrence with Walt. Guardians with a sense of humor and a bit of patience are a must! He is crate-trained and does well with his house training when taken out regularly. If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate adventure buddy, Walter is your dog. Come and meet him today, and let the adventures begin! Walter is being fostered in Chicago and a meeting can be arranged by appointment once an application has been submitted and approved for adoption. His adoption fee to the rescue is $475. Like his namesake dessert, he’s equal parts refined and indulgent: soft, sweet, and guaranteed to melt your heart with one look. Thought to be around 5 yrs old, Crème is fully house trained and settles into his crate like a well-set custard—sometimes needing a few minutes to stop his gentle “complaints” when you leave but sleeping through the night as quietly as a sugar crust waiting to be tapped. He’s incredibly smart, eager to please, and already knows commands like sit, up, and yes/no, with “wait” and “off” currently baking to perfection.This dashing dessert boy thrives on affection and will happily soak up pets like a sponge cake with syrup. He’s polite with his voice—only chiming in when it matters, like alerting you to a visitor or a knock at the door. Crème enjoys his meals with a little extra flair—preferring canned food mixed into his kibble—and dines twice daily, usually in his crate. He’s still learning that not every treat buffet is his to sample (he *will* try to sneak a bite if given the chance), but he’s making progress with guidance and consistency.Socially, Crème is a thoughtful mingler. He does best with slow introductions, especially with dogs his size or larger, but once he’s comfortable, he blends beautifully into the pack. He’s already proven to be a lovely companion to smaller female dogs and enjoys romping outside, often joining in games of keep-away—even if toys themselves aren’t quite his thing yet. On leash, he’s a dream, walking calmly on a harness without reacting to distractions. At home, he rotates between cozy dog beds, the couch, and the floor, soaking in comfort wherever it’s served.
