Story
Hi my name is Maverick.  I am an 8 month old Beagle Tree Walker Coonhound mix who weighs about 50 lbs.  I am currently living in rural middle Tennessee and am 'sort of' in trouble with my family.  We previously lived in a neighborhood but recently moved out in the country.  I am a super sweet and very loving boy.  I love people and am great with other dogs.  BUT in our new home there are these white things that walk around on two legs.  I like them too.  They are fun to chase and I got it trouble for that.  'STOP CHASING THE CHICKENS' is what I heard when I knew I was in trouble.  For that reason I need to find a new home.   I am sorry but I can't help it.  After all I am a mix of two hunting dogs.  I am ready to pack my bags.  Hopefully that will be to your house.  I am looking for an active home with another big young dog so that I have someone to play with.  I also need a fenced in yard so I don't get in any more trouble.  I currently live with a toddler and am very patient with her.  So you don't have to worry about that.  If you are looking for a big, goofy boy who will love you to pieces and give you plenty of kisses, then you have found him.  I am current on all my shots, neutered and microchipped.  I am ready to travel to my forever home.  To be considered for Maverick's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne directly at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Maverick is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)December 1, 2023, 11:14 pm

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
Howdy! I'm Ozzy! I'm a handsome boy who is getting to know the world. A lot can be scary for a dog like me who hasn't had a lot of experiences in the real world. I'm shy at first but will warm up quickly if you give me some yummy chicken. Cars and new sounds can be a little scary for me too, so I'll need someone to help introduce me to new things and show me all the great things in life! My favorite thing to do is play soccer - kick the ball for me and watch me (and my ears) bounce with excitement! I also love sniffing and exploring the trails here at FOHA. Because I'm still learning how to be confident in a world of uncertainty, I will do best in a home without children. If you'd like to get to know me a little better, submit an application and we can set up a time to meet. Hope to see you soon!! Story
This wonderful boy is Walker. He is a big, loveable boy that enjoys playing. He gets excited when he sees a cat or a squirrel like any good hound would. He really likes to hang out with people and other dogs. He has the softest ears and just loves it when you give him ear scratches. He is housetrained and wags his entire body when he sees his humans. He has never met a stranger and is just a big, loving lug. You could not ask for a better dog!Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 1, 2023, 5:41 pm

Story
Meet Groot! Groot is a 6-month-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix puppy. He is currently 28 lbs. Groot had Parvo as a baby but with treatment, love, and a strong will he survived and is now thriving! A note from Groot himself: "I was not supposed to be here anymore. I was just a tiny little boy and was so sick. I wasn't eating, throwing up... the works... My owner took me to the veterinarian, but could not pay for the treatment I needed. My owner did not want me to suffer and asked to put me to sleep. The vet had treated many cases of Parvo. The vet knew I had a good chance of making it and called a rescue. They said yes, and my owner signed me over. People spoke up for me and said my life mattered... and I made it. I got to go to a nice lady's home for quarantine. After that, I came to my new foster home. I am getting bigger. I play with my friends. I am such a good boy (he says). The trainer lady came and said I am so smart and easy to teach. I use the dog door and potty outside, and occasionally I still use a pee pad, 'cause I was used to that when I was in quarantine. I LOVE other dogs and to play. I LOVE people. I follow really closely and come immediately when called. I walk well on leash. I LOVE being alive. All I need now is a forever home." Please note: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, and tickborne tests, as well as regular monthly heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. You MUST contact your veterinarian’s office to give them permission to speak to us BEFORE we call them to verify the care you have provided for your pets. Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). PLEASE CHECK your SPAM folder for emails from Puppy Paws Rescue. Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame. Our rescue is an all-volunteer team managing families, our paying jobs, households, foster dogs, application processing, interviews, home visits, follow-up, transports, and much more. We ask that you are courteous and patient with us. If you’re seeing this listing the dog/puppy is still available. Please do not send an inquiry asking if the dog/puppy is available. All of our dogs/puppies are kept in private foster homes. For this reason, we do not schedule meets until after an application has been processed and approved. If you’re interested in meeting the animal, you must first submit an application on our website- www.puppypawsrescue.org.
