Story
My name is Wolfie. I have a big name for a little boy. I only weigh 5 1/2-6lbs and I am only 1 year old.  I am a Schnauzer-Yorkie mix. I love to play, cuddle, and even snuggle but I am also very playful and get along with other little dogs. My favorite thing is to give kisses! PLEASE NOTE: Pet Harbor adopts to residents of the South Bay area of Los Angeles county only. To adopt one of our pets, please call us or send us an email to request an adoption application. A home check is required for all adoptions. All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, updated on vaccinations and microchipped.

Story
Rocky is a very sweet young dog rescued from an abusive home. Rocky's owner used to shock him with a shock collar just for fun. On top of that, he was extremely underweight. When family members saw the abuse, they contacted rescue for help. They were able to get the owner to surrender Rocky, but will not testify or file a complaint against their family member. We are grateful that they intervened on Rocky's behalf. Rocky is safely in one of our best foster homes. He has been examined by our vet, vaccinated, neutered and chipped. He has been gainig weight, and has blossomed into a happy loving little dog. Rocky needs time to get to know new people and situations, so would not be good in an active home with a lot of visitors or small children. Once Rocky feels safe, he is extremely loving and devoted. He's very smart and sweet. Rocky's ideal home would be with a single adult female, preferably someone who works from home or is retired. He has a lot of love to give and just needs time to decompress. If you'd like get a lot of doggie love, can you be Rocky's hero? He's about 1 1/2 yrs old, and healthy. We're adopting out to the Southern California area. If you'd like to meet Rocky, please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com If you're not a good match, can you share Rocky's story?

Story
Meet Ava 🤍 Ava is a 1-year-old Terrier mix. When we first rescued her from the South LA shelter, she was terrified. She came from a group of 7 dogs surrendered from the same property, and most of them were very under-socialized and unsure of the world around them. Fast forward to now, and Ava is doing SO well in foster care 🥹 One of our favorite things to watch has been her relationship with her furry foster sibling. Ava absolutely loves having another dog around to play with, follow, and learn from, and we really think she would thrive in a forever home with another confident pup. She’s still learning the basics of home life. She sleeps through the night in her crate like a champ. Leash walking and commands are new to her, but she’s making progress every day with consistent guidance and a few short walks to help her build confidence. She’s still a little nervous and intimidated in brand new situations, which is completely understandable considering her past, but every single day we see her confidence grow more and more. With time, patience, and love, we know Ava is going to blossom into such a happy, confident girl. And once she trusts you? She turns into the sweetest little velcro dog who just wants to curl up beside her people 🤍 Apply to adopt at wishbonela.org 🐾

Story
Meet Puggy Female DOB: June 03, 2025 Weight: 11 lbs (small) Breed: Yorkie Terrier Mix Spayed (Fixed): Pending Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Puggy is a sweet young girl with a loving personality and charming Terrier spirit. At 1 year old, she has moved beyond the demanding puppy stage while still keeping her youthful energy, curiosity, and playful nature. She enjoys spending time with her people and thrives on companionship and affection. Puggy is the type of dog who wants to be part of the family, whether that means joining you on walks, relaxing at home, or simply staying close to her favorite humans. As a Yorkie Terrier mix, Puggy may show traits such as: Intelligence and eagerness to learn Loyal and affectionate companionship Alert and curious personality Playful but manageable energy Strong bonds with her family Yorkie mixes are often devoted companions who enjoy being involved in daily life and thrive with attention, structure, and positive reinforcement. Puggy would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily walks and exercise Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of companionship and affection A lifelong commitment to her physical and emotional well-being Her small size and loving personality make her a wonderful companion for many different types of homes. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even friendly and well-adjusted dogs benefit from continued guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement after adoption. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Puggy will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, rescue dogs like Puggy blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Puggy will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Regular grooming and coat maintenance Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of her small size, care should be taken around larger animals, rough play, and unsecured outdoor spaces. Puggy is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
