We believe 10 yr old Sassy is a Yorkie & Chihuahua mix and we know her to be an absolute gem of a dog! She is very confident in new situations. She doesn't pay much attention to the other dogs in her foster home but she LOVES the people. She’s definitely the dog that's not about to be left out when someone is giving out attention or ear scratches. She's a good lap dog and soaks up all the love and affection she can get. She is also a great watch dog that will alert when anyone is at the door and she will gladly play Neighborhood Watch from the window, happily supervising everyone's coming and goings. She is a total snuggle bug and makes a great bed partner- sleeping soundly through the night. She walk well on leash and she's potty trained with the use of the doggie door. No doggie door, no problem! She will be fine doing her business outdoors throughout the day and evening. If you're looking for a sweet, adoring older gal, Sassy Pants would love to meet you! Sassy is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. She also received a dental cleaning in our care. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested negative for heartworms. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION PICKLES is currently in foster care in Connecticut - please apply on our website. houstonshaggydogrescue.org This is Pickles we took her from our city shelter on jan 28th 2025, she was approx 6 weeks old..she had been hit by a car, her left front leg had multiple fractures, Dr Payne our Orthopedic Surgeon after reviewing the x rays said that she was too young to do any repair work as she was still growing and plating or putting in screws would just impede her growth and there were so many breaks from her ankle up, so every few weeks we take her in for new x rays to see if her leg is healing, Dr Payne feels that at this stage she is doing well and anything that he did would probably do more harm than good, her leg is a tad shorter than the other, but you wouldn't know unless you were told and she does not need any surgery. She is now 1 year old as of November 2025 and approx 20 lbs, she runs and plays like any other dog and is just the happiest little girl. She is now ready for her new home, she gets along with everyone, loves to eat and play with her toys, is pretty well house trained, she runs out to the yard with her buddies, she is not leash/harness trained, but is a very smart pup and should learn very fast, we did a Dna test on her she is Yorkie/Chihuahua(of course) and miniature schnauzer. What an ADORABLE little guy! Yogi is just as sweet and loveable as he can be and like most youngsters his age, he has plenty of energy and he loves to run and play with his toys and his friends. You can just look at his pictures and tell that he is going to be a lot of fun. He loves being around people, grownups and kids alike and he enjoys any love and attention that comes his way. Yogi will make a wonderful family pet for some lucky family. He is 1 year old and weighs 11 pounds, he has been neutered, 4DX heartworm tested, microchipped, fecal tested and is current on all vaccinations, worming and on heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Yogi is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area every week and his fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we cannot adopt directly to those states.
