Story
I'm 16 years young and I was discarded by my family. I was completely devastated. I sat in my cage and wouldn't make eye contact. I'm in good health for my age. My blood work looks good. I had a dental and lost 6 teeth. I only have 8 left so I eat soft food, and gobble it up with no problem. I'm fine with all the dogs at rescue and I'm such a gentle soul I'm sure I'd be fine with cats. Over 12 year old children would be fine too. Maybe I don't have lots of years left, but I assure you I'll give you so much love it'll be like I've been with you forever!

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 14 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  I think I would do best in a home with a small circle of regular people and not too many people coming and going.  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts.  My foster says I go in and out of my open crate to rest or clean myself, but get a bit stressed if I have to be crated during the day.  Usually I am allowed to have free reign of my foster home when she goes to work and I do great with that.  I sleep in bed with my foster and really like that.  There was one report of biting a former foster while asleep / just waking up, just so you know.  I can sleep in my crate if that is better for you.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I love treats just as much as toys and playtime.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I was diagnosed with Cushing’s and take a medication called Vetoryl to manage it.  I am taking a fish oil supplement and Benadryl daily to help alleviate some bouts with dry, itchy skin.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person! My adoption fee is $299.00 & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 17, 2025, 7:05 am

Story
Meet Abel! Abel was one of 3 senior Yorkies surrendered to RMG when their elderly parents could no longer care for them.   Abel is about 15 yrs old and a stout 13 lbs. He's a calm, gentle old guy who loves to bask in the sun before it gets too hot. His daily trips to see all of his friends at the small dog park with foster mom are the highlight of his day! He'd love to find a like minded soul to spend the rest of his Golden Years with! Abel does have Cushings Disease but is stable on daily medication. He also has a luxating patella and arthritis in one back leg, but at his age surgery isn't an option. His foster mom is a massage therapist and treats his leg with laser therapy and massage, with pain meds from the vet on hand if needed. Interested in being an integral part of this amazing boy's story? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org ##2369633##

Story
If you&#39re looking for an adorable Yorkie/Mix, Kylee is the girl for you! She is a senior girl who was sadly surrendered to a Metro Atlanta Shelter before BarkVille Dog Rescue pulled her. She weighs just 12lbs, and is the ultimate companion - she is both sweet and social! Due to her age, Kylee doesn&#39t have great vision or hearing, but she doesn&#39t let that slow her down. She is healthy otherwise, but only has 1 tooth left, so she requires soft dog food for her meals. When she&#39s not heading out for a stroll (her favorite activity!), Kylee spends most of her day snoozing and would love a comfortable lap or sofa to spend the rest of her days on! We would love to find a wonderful home for this loving and deserving girl. Kylee is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you&#39re interested in adopting this sweet girl, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.January 3, 2025, 6:28 pm

Story
Sir Bentley Fitzsimmons a/k/a Bentley is and adorable, sweet and fun loving 8 yr old 7 lbs Yorkie rescued from a local shelter. Bentley LOVES to play fetch more than anything, he also likes tug of war an playing with other small dogs. He is close to housetrained but doesn't always get #2 right. He was given up due do to landlord issues and we suspect that is because he has a very large bark for such a very small dog! He is now heartworm tested negative, vaccinated, neutered, chipped and had a much needed dental and tooth extraction. He does not mind cats at all. Bentley seeks a local home with another small dog. Furniture privileges are full expected. Fenced yard is preferred but not required. Due to his size, no small kids please. Local Inquiries only! Must haves: -Must be willing to play fetch a lot, and I mean a lot! -Must be willing to buy lots of toys -Must have dog furniture stairs -Must have another small dog - 7-12 lbs -Must reside in Metro Atlanta Deal Breakers: -Apartments/Condos, anything that shares walls with the neighbor -Out of state or non metro Atlanta -Small kids -No similarly sized playful canine companion
