Story
Hello! I am Sofia, I adopted Bella from a family member who was extremely neglectful. After living with that family member Bella was worse for ware, understandably so. The only reason I have been able to take care of Bella was because of my roommate’s help. She is moving though, and between college, & 3 jobs I am unable to keep caring for Bella the way she deserves. We have tried our best to rehabilitate Bella but we no longer have the time, energy, money, or space. Bella is a sweet tiny old lady dog who has a lot of love to give. Due to her past living situation she doesn’t get along with other dogs (that family member had two huge dogs that would trample her) especially male dogs. She is pretty good with children & cats/non-dog pets she just needs to warm up to new people/pets. Bella has extreme separation anxiety as well as claustrophobia (she doesn’t like cages) and prefers to be around people at all times. She can have accidents so we use diapers. She has spunk and personality!

Story
Bentley is the sweetest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet. I got him as a puppy from a family who could no longer care for him, and since then, he’s been nothing but a loyal, gentle companion. He’s fully home-trained, loves to play, and has such a calm, affectionate personality. Bentley is the kind of dog who just wants to be around his person, he’s very loving and will happily keep you company whether you’re relaxing or having a fun day. He only barks when he feels uneasy and has never shown any aggressive behavior, he’s never bitten anyone. This decision hasn’t been easy for me at all, but I work long hours, and I know Bentley deserves a home where someone has more time to give him the attention and love he truly deserves. He’s such a good dog, and I want the best life for him. I’m looking for a caring, patient home that will love Bentley as much as he deserves 💛

At only 6 lbs, Billy is small in stature, but makes up for it in his funny personality! Billy has proven to be a friendly boy, enjoying all sorts of attention. He has been a joy to all the people he has met, and has shown positive interactions with other dogs while in our care. Billy has also been doing very well in his foster home. He has continued to seek out all the cuddles he can and has enjoyed being picked up and soaking up all the attention. Once all the attention has been sufficiently directed his way, he will happily cuddle up next to you and snooze; even a pile of pillows will do! His foster has described him as ‘so great’, so if you’re looking for the sweetest of little dogs, don’t miss out and reach out about Billy today!

Story
Wasabi — The Spicy Little Emperor 🌶️👑 If ever a dog lived up to his name, it’s this one. Wasabi is a 10-year-old, 11-pound Yorkie with just the right mix of fire and finesse. A former stray who strutted into the shelter and immediately made his opinions known, this pint-sized dynamo believes he’s earned the right to call the shots. He’s seeking a peaceful kingdom where he can reign as the one and only pet — ideally with a soft lap to preside over or a sunbeam to claim as his throne. Grooming sessions? He adores them. Sharing attention? Not so much. Moody? Occasionally. Charming? Absolutely. Fully house-trained and perfectly content to enjoy his own company, Wasabi is that rare little character who’s both independent and endearingly particular. After all, at his age, he knows exactly what he likes — and he’s not shy about letting you know! Wasabi is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Clarence is a quiet little gentleman with the most wiry hair. He seems to believe very strongly in two things : polite coexistence with other dogs and enthusiastic participation in meals. Clarence appears to be mostly toothless, but this has not shaken his confidence about eating in the slightest. If anything, he approaches food with the calm determination of a dog who has already decided the situation will work itself out in his favor. He is generally a quiet dog, but will let you know if dinner is more than 10 seconds late. Clarence is housetrained, walks reasonably well on a leash, and does not mind going for the occasional car ride. He sleeps quietly through the night and behaves himself properly when left home alone. He loves food, treats, plush toys, chew toys, balls, walking and getting up close and personal with people. On walks, he would prefer not to have to interact with strange dogs. Best to give them a wide berth, for everyone's peace of mind. He can see fine but has some hearing loss. He's fine with going up and down the stairs. He needs a moderate amount of daily exercise.. He is hoping his new family will have a fenced yard, people that are home most of the time, and lots of snuggles. He'd like to go for plenty of leash walks and other adventures. Clarence is approx 12 years old and 9 1/2 lbs. fostered in Rockville, MD please apply at mirishaven.org

Story
Meet Bebe! If you appreciate honesty, independence, and a dog who knows exactly who she is, Bebe might be your girl. Bebe is a strong, independent woman. She doesn’t enjoy a lot of doting, but she will occasionally offer gentle kisses when she feels like it. She can’t see a lick, yet confidently toddles through her spaces, rotating between strategically placed donut beds (one per room is her recommendation; she does not believe in crating and has issued a formal policy against it). She navigates her foster home without any trouble, but would do best in a blind-savvy household without small children. Otherwise she’s a very chill little bug ~ cozy, well-fed, and content. The vet suspects the bald strip along her spine came from long periods in the same clothing or harnesses. She has discovered that at Miri’s your skin gets to breathe, and you get a nice clean outfit every morning! Sometimes a lovely outfit is medically necessary for moral. And she prefers to sleep in a bed right next to yours so you can reach down and pet her at bedtime. (Best if she doesn't sleep in bed with you, as she could fall off the edge.) Bebe came to Miri's with a plethora of medical issues, and we've been helping her fight them one by one. She had anemia, elevated kidney values, a high white blood cell count, an enlarged heart indicating heart disease, a collapsing trachea, dry eyes, mature cataracts that left her blind, limited hearing, and severe dental disease. She's now doing fabulously on a renal diet with supplements, multiple medications to address infections and coughing, and twice daily eye drops. Bebe does her business outside just fine, though it’s best to keep a diaper on her overnight and first thing in the morning - she’s small and simply can’t hold it that long. She’s also a “sometimes poo happens” kind of girl, so if that’s a dealbreaker, she may not be the right fit. Around here we expect that sort of thing, so she’s in very good company. If you are someone who enjoys cooking, this is a bonus, as she enjoys hanging around the kitchen and soaking in the smells. This is one of her greatest pleasures! Just be sure not to step on her as she tries her best to get underfoot. Bebe enjoys walks and exploring back yards. She will need to be carried up/down any stairs, and gates may be needed to keep her from wandering too much around the house. She would do best in a calm home with another dog, people that are home a fair amount to supervise her and give her regular potty breaks. Bebe is finally ready to start her next chapter and believes fully that it will be her best yet. Could it be with you? Bebe is approximately 12 years old and 6 lbs.
