Story
He is kind and very playful. He is very friendly. He loves toys. He gets attached to people very easily and is very sensitive. He likes belly rubs. Kylo has a one-year-old Yorkiechon brother who have never been apart since the day they were born. They are deeply bonded — play together, protect one another, and truly find comfort in each other’s presence. Because of this bond, separating them would break their hearts. They are incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loving dogs with gentle souls and lots of energy. Watching them interact, you can see how much they rely on each other — it’s not just companionship, it’s family. Both boys completed two weeks of OFF LEASH K9 training, and they did very well. Like any training, it must be consistently reinforced at home to be successful long-term. They will thrive with an adopter who understands that training is an ongoing commitment and is happy to continue working with them—particularly if they choose to keep them together.

Story
Meet Harry & Sally – A Sweet Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home Harry and Sally are an adorable father–daughter duo who are hoping to spend their golden years together in a loving home. Harry is a 15-year-old Maltese mix, and Sally is his 12-year-old Yorkie mix daughter. These two are a bonded pair and must be adopted together—they’ve spent their lives side by side and truly thrive in each other’s company. They are doing wonderfully in their foster home and have settled into a comfortable routine. Harry and Sally enjoy playing with each other occasionally, but their favorite pastime is snuggling on the couch and being close to their people. If you’re looking for loyal companions who just want to be where the humans are, these two fit the bill perfectly. They are pee pad trained, and continuing to work on house training with good progress. At night, they sleep well in a crate—after a short period of initial protest, they settle in and rest quietly. Harry and Sally are slowly warming up to the resident dogs in their foster home and would do best with other calm, quiet dogs who respect their space. Their experience with cats and children is unknown, so a calmer household is likely the best match for them. These sweet seniors have so much love to give and are ready to bring warmth, companionship, and gentle joy to a forever home that will cherish them together. If you’re looking to open your heart to a devoted duo, Harry and Sally would love to meet you.  Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Meet Douglas, aka Dougie! This tenderhearted gentleman is a heartbreaker in the making. Dougie was loved dearly by his devoted human for 13 years. Sadly, his person recently moved into a nursing home and Dougie couldn't go with. He is now looking for his own equivalent - a place where he can spend his golden years being loved and cared for. The change was hard for Dougie at first - he spent his first few weeks in foster in self-imposed solitude, mostly napping or staring wistfully into space (a true philosopher of the canine world). But Dougie has come so far from his early days of quiet, contemplative solitude - now he greets his foster mom with slow tail wags, gentle asks for head scritches, and takes brave little adventures around the house. His very favorite thing? Sunbathing in the yard and checking in on Mr. Bunny (a statue, but a reliable friend). Dougie is a professional napper, wonderfully quiet, and never gets into trouble. He gets along just fine with other dogs (mostly by politely ignoring them), but truthfully? He thinks he’d really shine as the one-and-only king of his castle, soaking up all the love and attention from his person. Dougie's hearing and vision aren’t great, so every touch still surprises him a bit. He's looking for a quiet, patient, gentle, adults-only home with humans who will take it slow with him, letting him acclimate at his own pace while cheering him on as he makes progress becoming more active and outgoing. An independent man, Dougie is not big on snuggling right now - this may or may not change as he gets more comfortable. A fenced-in yard is a must for this sun worshipper - he's not leash-trained nor is he looking to be. He'll need to be carried up and down steps and would do best in a home where his humans are around most or all of the day to let him out for frequent yard excursions and sniffaris. He is basically housebroken but benefits from having pee pads available just in case. He generally sleeps through the night and is fine staying home alone if his people need to step out for errands. Dougie's got his paws crossed that someone out there is looking for a calm, gentle companion to share naps, quiet moments, and unconditional love with ~ because that someone surely must be looking for Dougie, too. Douglas is approximately 13 years old and 6 lbs. Fostered in Gaithersburg,MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Corretta! Despite how she looks on the outside, this girl is full of love and absolutely thriving. She is gentle, affectionate, and overflowing with love, as if her past never taught her to harden her heart. Corretta was surrendered to a shelter on January 14th and set to be euthanized due to her condition. Her owner said the cost and complexity of her care had grown beyond what they could manage. Her skin told the story first:severe, chronic dermatitis had overtaken her body, her face and head bore wounds that, untreated, gave way to infection and discharge. Her eyes were clouded with cataracts and framed by conjunctivitis, wet and stinging, making it hard for her to see. Only a single tooth remained. But here's the thing - since arriving at Miri's, Corretta has been positively joyful. Her foster mom expected the slow shuffle of recovery...instead she got a full sprint around the yard, followed by a triumphant return indoors and several enthusiastic laps up and down the stairs. It was breathtaking to see - a full-fledged celebration of joy and light triumphing over darkness. At the very top of Corretta's résumé: potty trained queen. Corretta does not play about cleanliness. She refuses pee pads on principle, stands politely by the back door when she needs to go out, and will wake her foster mom in the middle of the night rather than have an accident - though she normally sleeps through the night. She does well with children and coexists peacefully with the other dogs in her foster home, though she's not into playing and will ask for her space if needed. Corretta is stlil learning leash-walking, but she's a great passenger in the car and doesn't mind staying home alone while her people are out. While she's not big on snuggling yet, we're hopeful this might change with time and trust. She has already come to LOVE being pet, and recently requested to join her foster mom and foster dog siblings in bed for the first time! Corretta throws the most joyful, over-the-top party when her people come home, complete with stair zoomies and a celebratory tippy tap dance. Otherwise, she spends most of her days snoozing peacefully ~ safe, warm, and deeply loved. She's looking for a home that is generally calm and quiet so she can continue said snoozes. Corretta is living proof that resilience is real, kindness is powerful, and a beautiful heart can shine no matter where it came from. Apply today to meet her! Coretta is approximately 9 years old and 9 lbs. Fostered in Woodbridge, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Lacey and her brother Ashton! These two little souls have been through so much, but never once let it dim their spirits. Lacey and Ashton had a loving home until their owner's health declined. Suddenly the rug was pulled out from under them and they found themselves in an overwhelming shelter with no idea what happened to the life they'd always known. Fortunately, Miri's pulled them and they have settled right in to their foster home. Lacey and Ashton may be the most laid back, loving, and cuddliest dogs you'll ever meet. Lacey is your cozy companion - naps, snuggles, and Netflix marathons are her love language. Ashton is your loyal sidekick - always ready to tag along for errands, work days, and helping with chores (moral support included). They adore going on stroller safaris where they can take in all the exciting sights, sounds, and smells without even lifting a paw. They are also leash trained and enjoy exploring the yard at their own (leisurely) pace. When they're not cruising the neighborhood in their wheels, these two LOVE snoozing. Naps during the day, deep slumbers at night - and their favorite way to sleep is snuggled up with their human(s). Lacey especially loves to sleep in, so if you're not an early riser either, she's your girl. She also loves being tucked in under a blanket while snoozing on the couch, and smiles the cutest little smile when she's feeling content. Lacey and Ashton both get along well with other dogs, ride well in the car, and are happy staying home alone while their humans are out. They are looking for a family who will be home with them most of the time, loves snuggling and stroller walks, and has a fenced in yard. They can navigate steps but sometimes need help, so they hope their forever home won't have too many. Ashton has chronic dry eye which is easy to manage with eye ointment. He's been drinking lots of water and peeing often since he arrived, so we're working with our vets to determine the cause. In the meantime, he's taking thyroid medication and is happy to rock belly bands given how often he needs to go. Lacey is fully housetrained and a huge foodie who loves mealtime and snacktime and treat time. A huge Swiftie, she’s tracking the countdown to Taylor’s next album and has claimed her favorite bed as her listening throne until October 3rd arrives. Cozy, sweet, and completely unbothered. Lacey and Ashton never miss a meal, never miss a cuddle, and never miss a chance to remind us how resilient dogs truly are. Until their forever family finds them, we’ll keep soaking up their company…walks, naps, conversations, and all. Lacey and Ashton are totally chill go-with-the-flow types. They just want to be near you (and each other), get lots of snuggles, and have a steady stream of delicious snacks. These two are gems, and they deserve the kind of love that shines right back at them. Ashton and Lacey are both approximately 10 years old and 10 lbs.
