Story
Meet Lily!  We think she looks like a mini Chewbacca,  but cuter! This sweet girl was sadly left behind when her owners moved and was found wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully, a kind neighbor took her in and helped her find her way to our rescue. Lily made an easy transition to her foster home, which includes her foster mom, Debbie, her teen son, two dogs, and a cat. She blended right in. She enjoys the company of her pup friends and was curious but respectful with the cat. Lily looks to her humans for comfort and security, so we think she’d do just fine as an only dog, too. Debbie describes Lily as easygoing, affectionate, and a total snuggle bug. Once she feels comfortable, she’s confident in the home, though she can be a little cautious with new visitors at first. She might bark and keep her distance, but soon she’s happy to curl up quietly on the couch next to her foster mom while the guest is there. Lily has a moderate to mellow energy level. She loves her walks and can keep up with her bigger pack members, though she’s just as happy to relax by your side. She’s not shown much interest in toys yet, but will play if you engage her. She’s crate-trained, housetrained, and thrives on a consistent routine. Her foster mom does crate her when she leaves the home for long periods of time, but she's done fine not being crated for shorter periods of time.  This pretty girl is as sweet as they come and will make a wonderful companion or family dog. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 STRONG PREFERENCE for another young, playful dog in the home.  Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Yorkshire Terrier Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  12.5 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 2 to 3 years old COAT TYPE: Scruffy coat, needs regular grooming. ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spyaed/microchipped LOCATION:  Vienna, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
Poppi’s elderly owners both passed away. Their caretaker had agreed with his owner to care for Poppi until he passed, but she gave him up instead. Poppi enjoys long walks despite being a senior. He just wants to be with his humans, but also loves his foster sister Sophie, a rambunctious pup. He knows the resident kitty is about his size so he just leaves her be. Poppi is housetraind and enjoys hanging out in his crate if the door is left open.  He came to us with very bad teeth and required a major dental. Now that is healing, he is a lot happier. If you are a yorkie person, this is your guy.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 1, 2025, 11:03 pm

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Belle's Dash! - Dash was born in his foster home on 11/2/25. He will be ready to go to his forever home on December 28th. We are accepting applications now. Dash and siblings are all cute and chunky:) They spend their days nursing and sleeping. Belle, the mom, is about 1 year old and 15 lbs. She is so sweet and loves all people and other dogs. Belle has been a very good mom and her puppies are thriving. Because they are baby puppies, they will require an adopter who is home a good portion of the day to continue his/her training—no exceptions. The puppies will be up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00 plus a $100.00 spay/neuter refundable deposit. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Alex — Your New Best Snuggle Buddy!   Looking for a calm, gentle soul to fill your home with love?  Alex , a 10-year-old Maltese with a heart of pure gold, might be  the one you’ve been waiting for .  At 10, Alex has mastered what really matters in life: &#226&#156&#168   loving his people &#226&#156&#168   snuggling like a champion &#226&#156&#168   keeping the peace He’ll curl up beside you for hours — on the couch, in bed, wherever you are. If you’ve ever dreamed of having a fluffy little shadow who loves you endlessly, Alex is your guy. Cat lovers, pay attention!  Alex  adores  cats. He lights up around them, and we’re pretty sure he lived with them before joining his foster family. If you’ve got a friendly feline at home, Alex will fit right in. What about dogs?  Alex prefers calm, polite pups. Big dogs make him nervous, and rowdy puppies can overwhelm him. That’s why we believe he’d thrive in a  quiet, low-key home  — the kind of place where he can relax, feel safe, and spend his afternoons lounging peacefully. Don’t let his age fool you — he’s in great shape!  Alex  loves  his walks and struts along beautifully on a leash. He may not know a ton of commands, but he’s incredibly intuitive — he watches you, reads the room, and figures out what you’re asking. He just wants to make his people happy. Kids?  We haven’t seen him around children yet, so a kid-free or older-kid home is likely best. If you’ve got a quiet home, a comfy couch, and room in your heart for the sweetest senior Maltese on the planet,  Alex is ready to love you forever. Come meet Alex — and let him show you what unconditional love feels like. Adoption fee: $375, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. The adoption policies and applications can be found at the following links: https://fancycats.org/adopt-a-cat and https://fancycats.org/adopt-a-dog. Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
