We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Story
Meet Meelo: Professional Cuddle Expert & Part-Time Shoe Collector Meelo is a certified Velcro dog who believes personal space is just a suggestion. This adorable goofball has a PhD in Being Adorable and a minor in Toy Hoarding – he'll play with literally anything, including hair ties, because apparently those are peak entertainment. The Good Stuff: Meelo is convinced that all toys are community property and sharing is caring (your dog's toys? Also his toys. Your shoes? Definitely toys, but don't worry – he won't chew them, he just wants to carry them around like trophies). He's a social butterfly who may bark at strangers at first, but only because he's yelling "NEW FRIEND ALERT!" Once introduced, he's basically your new best friend's new best friend. This little shadow is great with other dogs and believes every dog park visit is a networking opportunity. He's an excellent leash walker who somehow missed the memo about pulling and lunging – he's just happy to be included in outdoor adventures. What Meelo Needs: Let's be honest: Meelo needs someone who enjoys having a furry barnacle attached to them 24/7. Work from home? PERFECT. He'll be your unpaid intern, napping under your desk or chewing bones while you're in Zoom meetings. Bathroom break? He'd like to join. Going to grab the mail? Why would you do that without him? He's crate-trained, but recently upgraded himself to bed status (post-surgery VIP treatment has spoiled him, and honestly, can you blame him?). He's mostly potty-trained – think of it as a work in progress, like a software beta version that occasionally has bugs but is getting better with each update. Deal-Breakers for Meelo: Blow dryers (the enemy) Being alone (his personal nightmare) The concept of "your bed" vs "his bed" (there is only "our bed" now) The Perfect Match: Someone who works from home and doesn't mind a co-worker who never contributes to the coffee fund A household with another dog so he has a buddy for when you dare to shower alone Active humans Patient people who understand that "sit" is a very complicated concept that requires extensive study. *2 years old *17 lbs of cuteness *Neuterer, up to date on vaccines and microchipped *LOVE to cuddle *Dog Friendly- Cats unknown *Crate Trainer *Working hard on potty training Apply now before someone else snatches up this professional snuggler and amateur shoe curator! Story
Meet Archie! Archie is a 6-year-old, 10 lb. Yorkie mix who is ready to find his forever home. He came to us when his previous owner could no longer provide the care he needed, and now this little guy is blossoming into the loving companion he was always meant to be. Archie would be a wonderful match for someone—especially an older person—who has plenty of time to shower him with attention. He absolutely loves people, enjoys car rides (he’s the perfect little backseat buddy!), and will happily entertain himself by tossing his toys in the air and catching them. He is a sweetheart who loves giving kisses and is just now coming out of his shell, seeking out more affection every day. Archie does have a bit of food aggression, so he’ll need to be fed separately if there are other dogs in the home. He can also get a little jealous of other dogs, so he’ll do best with a family who understands how to manage that. Archie currently lives with a cat—he may give chase from time to time, but mostly ignores him. He doesn’t live with children, so we’re not sure how he would do around them. Archie is crate trained, potty trained, and will require a standard fenced yard in his new home to keep him safe and secure. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention If you’re looking for a devoted little friend to brighten your days, Archie is ready to ride home with you! Archie’s adoption fee is $350. Please follow the link below for his application. Note: applicants must live within one hour of Toledo Ohio. http://www.dogworksohio.com/adoption-application.html

Story
MEET : TINKERBELL Age: 1 year  Weight: 7 lbs  Breed: Yorkie/Chihuahua Mix   Tinkerbell is a tiny and quiet girl who is ready to find her loving family! At just 1 year old and 7 pounds, this little Yorkie/Chihuahua mix may be small, but she has a big heart. Tinkerbell can be a bit insecure and may be fearful of new places and unfamiliar faces until she warms up to you. Tinkerbell is looking for a patient and understanding family that can provide her with the time and space to decompress in a new environment. She may "tinkle” a little when she’s nervous or excited, but this is only a temporary reaction as she adjusts to her new surroundings. A quieter home without young children is best to prevent any unnecessary anxiety.  Once Tinkerbell bonds with you, she will be a loyal friend for life! She is good with other dogs and cats, making her a wonderful addition to a multi-pet household. However, she does require a physically fenced yard as she may be a flight risk and is a bit fearful when on a leash. Tinkerbell will need regular grooming to keep her beautiful Yorkie-like fur looking its best. A little pampering will go a long way in helping her feel comfortable and cared for. This sweet girl has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and is crate trained, making her an excellent candidate for any loving home. She enjoys curling up on the couch with her people or playing with squeeky toys at her leisure. Tinkerbell is looking for a dedicated family who can give her the love and patience she deserves to feel safe and secure. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this precious little girl, she’s eager to start her journey toward a happy forever life with you! Story
Meet Harvey! Breed: Purebred AKC Yorkshire TerrierDate of Birth: November 5, 2024Weight: 12lbs Harvey is a darling little Yorkie who came to us after his previous owner realized they no longer had the time to care for him. Originally purchased for $1,500, he arrived overgrown, matted, and covered in fleas at just 1 year old, but with some TLC, he’s blossomed into the sweet, quiet boy he truly is. Harvey is seeking a calmer, quieter household where he can feel safe and settled. He would do best with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respect his size and gentle nature. He has done well with other dogs in his foster home and doesn’t mind sharing space with cats. This handsome little guy has shown a good understanding of house manners and is crate trained, though being crated isn’t his favorite thing. He will walk nicely on a leash, but he’s most accustomed to enjoying a physical fenced yard. He is not a good fit for a tether system and has no experience with invisible fencing. Harvey will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free. Now he’s ready to find a family who will cherish and love him furever. Could Harvey be your perfect little companion? We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
