Story
Hello, my name is Armadillo, I am a senior dog who knows what I am looking for in a forever home. I will be an open book from the start, so you`ll know exactly what I like! I prefer a slower pace for all things in life, meaning I would prefer a home without kids under 12 so I can be comfortable and secure. I may also prefer to be the only dog in the home due to my age, but I could benefit from a dog introduction at the shelter to make sure we make good first impressions with each other. Could you be the one to help me live out my golden years in style and comfort? Come meet me soon!I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Wino was surrendered to rescue due to his anxiety and need for more attention than previous owner had time for with their schedule. He is a sweet boy that loves to snuggle at night and going on walks. He also enjoys the stuffing inside of dog bed, lol. He has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. He does well with other dogs and would love to be a little prince to his new family. He is fostered in Knoxville TN, but transportation to a location near you is provided and included in the adoption fee.

Story
What a happy smile! Ginny is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Meet Ginny, she is just darling! This sweet little girl is as cute as they come and loves nothing more than being close to you. She is a little scared right now though and is looking for a more low-key, predictable type home. With her calmer demeanor, she's the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend. The only thing this little cutie needs now is a forever home to call her own, and hopefully, someone who can teach her how to walk on a leash, as it seems like she has no idea what one is! Ginny will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old to match her more serious, chill personality. Could you be the one to show Ginny the love she deserves? She would love it if you came to meet her. If you are interested in Ginny and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Jiffy – A Bundle of Joy Ready to Zoom Into Your Heart! Age: 10 months oldWeight: 10 lbs  Breed: Yorkie mix   Found as a stray in Detroit and never reclaimed, Jiffy is now looking for a forever family to give him the love and adventure he’s been missing. Jiffy is a social, high-energy pup who loves to play, explore, and be right in the middle of the fun. He’s happiest when he’s with his people—whether that means chilling on the couch after a long day of play or following you from room to room just to be near you. With a consistent routine, Jiffy has already shown great house manners and is crate trained, making him a polite and adaptable little companion. Jiffy gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playful interactions. He has been fostered with cats and has had no issues. He would also be a great fit for families with dog-savvy children who understand gentle play. His affectionate and people-oriented nature means he thrives on attention and companionship.  Jiffy needs an active family who can match his energy and keep him engaged. A home with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for safe play and exercise. He is working on his leash manners and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and regular walks. Due to his occasional vocal tendencies, he would likely do best in a house rather than an apartment or condo. Jiffy will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free. He’s a quick learner, eager to please, and ready to become a well-rounded member of the right family. What he needs most is patience, consistency, and plenty of love. If you’re looking for a lively, loyal, and loving little friend to join your active lifestyle, Jiffy might just be the perfect match. He’s waiting to fill your days with zoomies, snuggles, and unforgettable memories. Jiffy is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedNeuteredADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2669158##

Story
Louie is a 5-year-old neutered Yorkie mix who is ready to trade shelter life for a cozy couch and a family to call his own. This calm little gentleman enjoys the simple things—quiet companionship, gentle attention, and being near his people. Louie would do best in a home with older, mature kids who understand his easygoing nature. He has never lived with other animals before, so we’re unsure how he would feel about sharing his space, but with the right introduction he may adjust. If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back companion, Louie may be the perfect match for you. 🐾

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
