Story
Hello, my name is Armadillo, I am a senior dog who knows what I am looking for in a forever home. I will be an open book from the start, so you`ll know exactly what I like! I prefer a slower pace for all things in life, meaning I would prefer a home without kids under 12 so I can be comfortable and secure. I may also prefer to be the only dog in the home due to my age, but I could benefit from a dog introduction at the shelter to make sure we make good first impressions with each other. Could you be the one to help me live out my golden years in style and comfort? Come meet me soon!I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
***Adoption Pending*** What a happy smile! Ginny is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Meet Ginny, she is just darling! This sweet little girl is as cute as they come and loves nothing more than being close to you. She is a little scared right now though and is looking for a more low-key, predictable type home. With her calmer demeanor, she's the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend. The only thing this little cutie needs now is a forever home to call her own, and hopefully, someone who can teach her how to walk on a leash, as it seems like she has no idea what one is! Ginny will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old to match her more serious, chill personality. Could you be the one to show Ginny the love she deserves? She would love it if you came to meet her. If you are interested in Ginny and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Jiffy – A Bundle of Joy Ready to Zoom Into Your Heart! Age: 10 months oldWeight: 10 lbs  Breed: Yorkie mix   Found as a stray in Detroit and never reclaimed, Jiffy is now looking for a forever family to give him the love and adventure he’s been missing. Jiffy is a social, high-energy pup who loves to play, explore, and be right in the middle of the fun. He’s happiest when he’s with his people—whether that means chilling on the couch after a long day of play or following you from room to room just to be near you. With a consistent routine, Jiffy has already shown great house manners and is crate trained, making him a polite and adaptable little companion. Jiffy gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playful interactions. He has been fostered with cats and has had no issues. He would also be a great fit for families with dog-savvy children who understand gentle play. His affectionate and people-oriented nature means he thrives on attention and companionship.  Jiffy needs an active family who can match his energy and keep him engaged. A home with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for safe play and exercise. He is working on his leash manners and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and regular walks. Due to his occasional vocal tendencies, he would likely do best in a house rather than an apartment or condo. Jiffy will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free. He’s a quick learner, eager to please, and ready to become a well-rounded member of the right family. What he needs most is patience, consistency, and plenty of love. If you’re looking for a lively, loyal, and loving little friend to join your active lifestyle, Jiffy might just be the perfect match. He’s waiting to fill your days with zoomies, snuggles, and unforgettable memories. Jiffy is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedNeuteredADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. Story
Meet McLovin! At just 1 year old and 10 pounds, McLovin has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. He was part of a large-scale animal neglect case in Detroit, where he lived among more than 40 other Yorkies. While he never received the individual attention and care every dog deserves, his spirit remains incredibly gentle and loving. Despite his past, McLovin is a *happy boy* with so much love to give. McLovin thrives on attention and soaks up affection from his people. He is food and treat motivated, which will be a wonderful asset as he continues learning house manners and building confidence. While he hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, that may simply be because he’s never really had the chance to explore play in a normal home environment. McLovin is good with other dogs and would especially benefit from a social, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes and reassure him as he adjusts. He has displayed no issues with cats and would seemingly do well with dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog. McLovin is looking for a family truly dedicated to giving him the structure, patience, and love he has missed out on. Because of his previous living conditions: He has no experience with leash walks — realistically, no one was walking 40 dogs or ensuring they all had consistent outdoor time. He will require a physically fenced yard to help prevent continued struggles with accidents and to safely build his confidence outside. He is working on crate training and will need consistency to promote good house manners. He will require regular professional grooming, as is typical for the Yorkie breed. Most importantly, he needs a home committed to maintaining a predictable routine. Structure and consistency will help him feel safe and set him up for long-term success. McLovin is seeking a forever family who will cherish him, advocate for him, and ensure he never again goes without love or proper care. With patience, guidance, and a warm lap to call his own, he will blossom into an incredibly devoted companion. He’s ready to leave his past behind and start the beautiful life he has always deserved.
