Story
🩷 Rescue Story Ongal was admitted to "Jeongeup City Shelter" in very poor condition, with her coat badly matted and tangled. She spent her days clinging to the shelter environment, clearly overwhelmed. Thankfully, she was rescued before things worsened and moved into a foster home, where she has been able to recover both physically and emotionally. In a safe setting, her bright and lively personality has begun to shine. 🌿 Temperament & Behavior Ongal gets along well with other dogs and is currently living harmoniously with a Pomeranian and a Pomeranian mix. She enjoys canine companionship and would do well in a multi-dog household, especially with dogs of similar size or age. With people, she needs only a brief moment to warm up—after about ten seconds of observation, one treat is usually all it takes for her to become friendly and engaged. Her compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. 🚶 Walking & Daily Life Ongal may pull slightly on the leash at first, but her walking is easily manageable and improves quickly once boundaries are clearly communicated. She responds well to guidance and understands verbal cues. Her shedding level is moderate, around 5 out of 10. She has no food allergies and eats very well. She strongly prefers outdoor potty breaks and will often hold her bathroom needs if she doesn’t get a walk. 🏡 Habits & Training Ongal is comfortable with grooming and does well during baths and professional grooming sessions. She does not have separation anxiety and is crate trained, staying calm and relaxed even when separated in her own space. She may bark briefly when deliveries arrive, but she settles down quickly afterward. She rides well in the car and does not experience motion sickness. 💛 Likes & Personality Ongal loves tug-of-war games and enjoys running and playing with her dog friends. She does not like sudden approaches, so calm and gentle introductions are best. A home with other dogs of similar size or age would be a great match for her. She is currently living in a foster home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Jeter is about 8-9  and 7 lbs. and Baby Girl (white) is about 8-9years old and 14 lbs. They are adorable, little sweeties who love to be in your lap, enjoy playing with toys and are crate trained. They are a BONDED PAIR, meaning that they must be adopted together because they love each other so very much. This duo loves other dogs, cats and children and would love to be part of your family. Baby Girl and Jeter were surrendered to Animal Control when their owner went into hospice care. When we originally took them in they were in need of grooming and veterinary care. We even thought they were much older - but now settled and in good health we see totally different dogs- active, happy and fun !! Jeter is now neutered and just had a dental, Baby Girl is spayed and had a dental too, and both are current on shots. If you're interested in being their happily ever after, please complete an application at njshpetrescue.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2025, 11:56 am

Story
Daisy Mae is pending adoption. Fae is still patiently waiting for a home of her own. We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Daisy Mae and Fae to our trip for the right home/homes! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! Their adoption fees, along with their adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with the girls ultimately finalizing their adoptions. Daisy Mae and Fae are sweet little sisters—Yorkie/Maltese mixes (Morkies)—born on 7/15/25, and already bringing so much joy into our days. These girls are happy, confident, and full of life, with tails that never stop wagging and hearts that are clearly meant to love deeply. They currently weigh 5–6 lbs each, and we expect them to mature around 10–12 lbs full grown. Both girls will be fully up to date on vaccines upon their adoption, including DA2PP, Bordetella, and Rabies. They have already received fecal testing (we had a fecal test sent to the lab to check for any worms and the results came back negative to all of them,) are both microchipped, and have been issued an official health certificate from our veterinarian that will go home with them. Because they are still very young, they will be placed on spay contracts, allowing them to reach full physical maturity before sterilization—this is the healthiest choice for their long-term wellbeing. Although Daisy Mae and Fae are sisters, they are not being adopted together. They are wonderfully independent from one another and will absolutely flourish as the cherished princess in their own homes. That said, they are great with other dogs, would enjoy a playful canine companion, and were raised with a cat—so a kitty friend would be just fine too. Their story began with a family who loved them dearly and had them from just 8 weeks old. A trusted family friend owned the parents, and the intention was for the girls to grow up together. Unfortunately, as life and schedules became overwhelming, it became clear that raising two puppies properly required more time and structure than they could give. Wanting to do right by the girls and avoid making a rushed or unsafe rehoming decision, they reached out to us so Daisy Mae and Fae could have the very best chance at finding the right homes this time around. These girls are pure joy. They love to play—with toys, with each other, and especially with their people. They are affectionate, social, attentive (even at such a young age), and very well-handled. They adore being held and genuinely enjoy snuggle time—those cuddle sessions are the real deal. They were raised with love, consistency, and attention, and it truly shows in their temperaments. They are pad trained and clearly understand how to use them, while also learning a consistent outdoor potty schedule. We strongly recommend continuing both to support their progress and prevent any setbacks. Leash training will be new, but these little socialites are eager explorers, and it will quickly become another fun adventure for them. At night, they are transitioning from an open play yard with a bed to an enclosed crate, and they are adjusting very well. Whoever is lucky enough to add Daisy Mae or Fae to their life will be gaining a devoted companion—a little soul who will love deeply, trust fully, and bring joy every single day. Their adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of their adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/daisy-mae-fae-1 This fee covers their vaccines, fecal testing, exam with our veterinarian, microchip/registarion, health certificate, and grooming costs once both girls recieve their final vaccines. With puppies, the majority of care and cost happens early and all at once. In a very short period of time, they require multiple rounds of vaccines, fecal testing and potential treatments, microchipping, frequent veterinary visits, health certificates, and constant monitoring during critical developmental stages. Beyond medical care, puppies need daily structure, hands-on potty training, crate introduction, socialization, and consistent routines to help shape them into stable, confident adult dogs. While adult dogs leave us with completed medical procedures such as spay or neuter already done, puppies require everything to be built from the ground up—medically, behaviorally, and emotionally. The time, care, and resources invested during these early months are significant, which is why puppy adoption fees often reflect a level similar to adult dogs. That investment ensures each puppy leaves healthy, well-started, and fully supported as they transition into their forever home.

Story
*** Christmas miracle desperately needed! *** Jasper is a 7 m/o old Yorkie Mix weighing in at about 8 lbs. He is a sweet, affectionate, playful, happy-go-lucky little boy who just wants to run around and play with other dogs (and he’s good with cats, too). For this reason, we would prefer he go to a home with other dogs to play with, if possible. With his scruffy golden coat and bright, expressive eyes, Jasper turns heads wherever he goes! He’s still a puppy, so he’s eager to learn, explore, and snuggle up after playtime. Jasper would love a home that will guide him as he grows, shower him with affection, and let him be part of the family adventures he’s been dreaming of. What makes Jasper even more special is the fact that a Hero Dog has a greater purpose — saving the lives of fellow pets in urgent need. A “Hero Dog” is one who is specifically donated to our rescue in order to raise CRITICALLY NEEDED funds for life-saving surgeries of other pets in the rescue. Jasper’s $2000 adoption fee is desperately needed to help pay for the recent medical emergencies we’ve been hit with such as Pablo’s rectal prolapse, Cora’s seizures, Irene’s stomach obstruction, and little puppy Jake’s fractured pelvis from being hit by a car - just to name a few. The costs to save their lives are *astronomical* and that’s on top of the treatment of countless dogs with heartworm, regular vetting, emergency boarding, transport, and supplies. And all this while we are facing the highest numbers of animals being euthanized in shelters ever recorded and scrambling daily to save as many innocent lives as possible. Many people do not think twice about ‘purchasing’ a purebred pet from a breeder for thousands of dollars, which simply puts a profit in somebody’s pocket. In this case, the adoption fee/donation is actually used to SAVE THE LIVES of other pets who would have been euthanized because a small 501c3 rescue like ours does not have the necessary funding or adequate donations to do so otherwise. We are completely volunteer-run and exist *solely* on adoption fees and donations. In essence, when you adopt this pet, you may be opening your heart and home to one dog, but you’re actually saving the lives of MANY that would not otherwise be possible. By doing so, you are sponsoring the ability for other pets to have a chance at finding their fairytale ending as well. Thank you for your understanding and for partnering with us in this mission. We are a small team of volunteers with apx. 200 dogs (and some cats, too) in our rescue at any given time, all of whom were saved from death row in high kill shelters or dumped/abandoned in their community. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the animals in our care and your adoption donation is tax deductible. ————————————————— If you are interested in learning more about Jasper, please submit an inquiry or call/text Aly at 732-604-0625 and we will happily share additional photos and videos of him and arrange a meet and greet! Thank you for caring about these deserving pets in need!
