WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Because he can be startled by loud noises, he would do best in a peaceful environment where he can feel safe and secure. Another friendly, confident dog would be a wonderful addition to his new home, as Garbanzo enjoys having a canine companion to follow and learn from. When he stayed with my daughter and her pup, he loved following his furry friend around and curling up beside him for naps. If you're looking for a sweet, low-key lap dog who enjoys being carried, cuddled, and cherished, Garbanzo could be the perfect match.Personality: Garbanzo is a gentle, mellow little guy with a calm and easygoing personality. He enjoys spending most of his day napping and is happiest in a quiet, peaceful environment. While he can be a bit shy at first, his sweet nature quickly shines through once he feels safe. Every time you approach his crate, his tail starts wagging as he eagerly comes out to greet you for pets and affection. Garbanzo absolutely loves being cuddled, snuggled, and held close. As his confidence grows, he becomes more expressive, wagging his tail, standing up on your leg to ask to be picked up, and soaking up every bit of love you have to give. He may occasionally shiver when he's feeling unsure, but gentle hugs and reassurance help him relax, making him a devoted and incredibly loving companion. He walks nicely on a leash, preferring leisurely strolls with plenty of breaks to sit and take in the world around him. He's happiest snuggled on the couch or being carried in a sling or your arms, where he feels safe and close to his person. Garbanzo is excellent with other dogs of all sizes, greeting them politely and enjoying calm introductions. He is incredibly quiet and rarely, if ever, barks or cries. He loves retreating to his crate when he wants to rest and happily goes in on his own to relax. While he doesn't yet understand toys or how to play, he more than makes up for it with his love of gentle affection and cuddles. WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future.
