Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: JamBREED: Maltese DOB: Jul 11, 2025 (1 year)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Jam would thrive in a home that is ready for an active, playful puppy and can continue helping him learn and grow. He has done wonderfully living with his foster sibling and has enjoyed having a canine companion from day one. Like many puppies, he's been known to claim a few of his furry friend's favorite toys and blankets, but it has all been part of their playful relationship. Jam would likely enjoy a home with another friendly dog to play with, but he would also do well as the center of attention in a family committed to providing him with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and love.Personality: Jam is a happy, active puppy with the perfect mix of playful energy and laid-back charm. He loves tossing around his favorite toys, exploring the neighborhood on walks, and discovering all the exciting sights and smells along the way. After a fun play session, Jam is more than happy to curl up for one of his many daily naps and recharge. His fun-loving personality and sweet nature make him a wonderful companion for a family looking for an affectionate, adventurous pup.KIDS: YesDOGS: Yes CATS: YesTraining: Jam is making wonderful progress with his training! He walks very well on a leash and happily follows along behind his foster sibling, who has been a great role model. House training came naturally to him, likely because he loves copying what his foster sibling does. Jam needs a little help getting up and down the stairs.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
