Story
PA Kennel License #5254Wags Rescue & ReferralSouthampton Pa 18966 Local Surrender Mario is a gentle, sweet-natured Yorkie Terrier mix with a gorgeous black coat and a soft, thoughtful soul. This handsome boy was surrendered to Wags through no fault of his own, and hes now looking for a loving home where he can feel safe, secure, and truly cherished. Almost 2 years old (hell turn two in May!), Mario is still very much a young pup whos learning what it means to be a beloved family dog. Hes working hard on his house and crate training and continues to improve with patience, routine, and gentle encouragement. Mario can be a little reserved when first meeting new people, but his confidence truly shines around other dogs. He loves their company and would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help him feel more comfortable and show him the ropes. With a canine buddy by his side, Marios sweet personality blossoms. Quiet, loving, and endlessly endearing, Mario is the kind of dog who bonds deeply once he trusts you. If you have room in your heartand your homefor a sensitive little companion and maybe a four-legged friend for him too, Mario could be the perfect addition to your family Please visit our website www.wagsrescue.org to learn more about this amazing dog and Wags Rescue.

Story
PA Kennel License #5254Wags Rescue & ReferralSouthampton Pa 18966 Available 10/12/2024 Originated fromAllmons All About Animals DL# 17277Blackshear GA 31516 12/5/25 update - the transformation Marcia has made is amazing in a few months time. She is playful and loves to lay by her human and dog friends. She goes into her crate on her own when asked and is pee pad trained. She still doesn't like to be picked up and is still slow to acclimate to new people - but ifallowed to approach on her own terms - she will look to get pets from new people. Her new owners will need to be patient with her and allow her the time to trust them. A dog friend is not necessary- but it would be helpful in the transition period. She is absolutely worth the time and effort - you won't be disappointed in this happy, funny girl! Update -It's been a few weeks now that Marcia has been at her fosters house - and she has blossomed!!!! She snuggles next to her humans on the couch and loves to play with the resident dogs all sizes -not just the little ones! She is pad trained in the house and is working on going outside consistently. She recently started taking treats from the hand and is enjoying pets and belly rubs. It's a slow process for her - but she is worth it!! Marcia is a very shy and timid pup. She was found in a hoarding situation and very skittish because of it. She is slow to trust both human and furry friends, but if left to her own devices, her puppy curiousness takes over and she will explore her surroundings. Marcia's forever family will need to be very understanding of her fearful behaviors. She will need to be allowed to approach on her terms and will need a fenced yard for bathroom breaks - she is not able to walk on the leash at this time due to her nervousness. She would do best in a home with no small children due to the sudden movements and loud noises that they sometimes bring with them. Aresidentdog friend (medium to small sized) to help her grow her confidence would be best. Once she acclimated to her foster home, she has becomeaffectionate and playful but it has taken a full week to gain her trust. Marciais working oncrate training, although if given her choice, she'd prefer to stay on the couch. She is working on potty training and is doing better every day - but her forever family needs to remember that this will be a process - she's used to using her house as her bathroom after all! Marcia'sfoster family is available to answer any questions you may have! If your heart is open to make Marciaa part of your forever family, please contact WagsRescue.com and put in an application today! Story
Meet Lily. Lily came to us as a retired breeder dog from a commercial kennel. She is a Yorkie and weighs about 6 lbs. Lily turns 4 years old in July 2025. She is more on the shy side but she is learning how to be loved in her foster home. Lily will need a home with a securely fenced yard and another small dog to help her learn how great living in a home can be. Lily gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home. Lily is not housebroken. She is not leash trained. She is now spayed and had a dental cleaning. Sadly her teeth were so bad that all but one had to be removed so she will have to stay on soft food. Lily is up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She is working on housebreaking and crate training in her foster home but her adopter will need to continue to work on it. Her adoption fee is $450.00. If you are interested in adopting Lily, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
Meet Ginger. Ginger came to us after her owner passed away. She was in a home with many other dogs, cats and even pot belly pigs. Ginger is scared of new people at first, but she does like to cuddle once she gets to know you. She does seem to like men faster then women and will cuddle with them first. Ginger does like to be with other small dogs so a home with another small friendly dog is a must for her. She does not walk on a leash so will need a securely fenced yard to go potty and then follow another dog back into the home. Ginger will need a very calm and patient home. She needs someone with experience working with scared dogs. Ginger has come a long way in her foster home but would snap and bite if you cornered her when she first came to us. Now she comes up and sits on her foster's lap to sleep and cuddle. She is not housebroken. We don't know exactly what she is mixed with, her hair does seem like Yorkie and she is an adult, we think at least 5 years old. She weighs about 9 lbs. Ginger came to us spayed, but she was in desperate need of a dental cleaning so she just had that done and her vaccines are now all up to date. She is microchipped and tested negative for heartworm and was started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $50.00. Because she does get scared easily we are not recommending a home with children for Ginger. If you are interested in adopting Ginger,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
*** Christmas miracle desperately needed! *** Jasper is a 7 m/o old Yorkie Mix weighing in at about 8 lbs. He is a sweet, affectionate, playful, happy-go-lucky little boy who just wants to run around and play with other dogs (and he’s good with cats, too). For this reason, we would prefer he go to a home with other dogs to play with, if possible. With his scruffy golden coat and bright, expressive eyes, Jasper turns heads wherever he goes! He’s still a puppy, so he’s eager to learn, explore, and snuggle up after playtime. Jasper would love a home that will guide him as he grows, shower him with affection, and let him be part of the family adventures he’s been dreaming of. What makes Jasper even more special is the fact that a Hero Dog has a greater purpose — saving the lives of fellow pets in urgent need. A “Hero Dog” is one who is specifically donated to our rescue in order to raise CRITICALLY NEEDED funds for life-saving surgeries of other pets in the rescue. Jasper’s $2000 adoption fee is desperately needed to help pay for the recent medical emergencies we’ve been hit with such as Pablo’s rectal prolapse, Cora’s seizures, Irene’s stomach obstruction, and little puppy Jake’s fractured pelvis from being hit by a car - just to name a few. The costs to save their lives are *astronomical* and that’s on top of the treatment of countless dogs with heartworm, regular vetting, emergency boarding, transport, and supplies. And all this while we are facing the highest numbers of animals being euthanized in shelters ever recorded and scrambling daily to save as many innocent lives as possible. Many people do not think twice about ‘purchasing’ a purebred pet from a breeder for thousands of dollars, which simply puts a profit in somebody’s pocket. In this case, the adoption fee/donation is actually used to SAVE THE LIVES of other pets who would have been euthanized because a small 501c3 rescue like ours does not have the necessary funding or adequate donations to do so otherwise. We are completely volunteer-run and exist *solely* on adoption fees and donations. In essence, when you adopt this pet, you may be opening your heart and home to one dog, but you’re actually saving the lives of MANY that would not otherwise be possible. By doing so, you are sponsoring the ability for other pets to have a chance at finding their fairytale ending as well. Thank you for your understanding and for partnering with us in this mission. We are a small team of volunteers with apx. 200 dogs (and some cats, too) in our rescue at any given time, all of whom were saved from death row in high kill shelters or dumped/abandoned in their community. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the animals in our care and your adoption donation is tax deductible. ————————————————— If you are interested in learning more about Jasper, please submit an inquiry or call/text Aly at 732-604-0625 and we will happily share additional photos and videos of him and arrange a meet and greet! Thank you for caring about these deserving pets in need!
