All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet. It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Wisteria Village is a brave little survivor with a big heart. This tiny 6-pound, 1-year-old girl was recently rescued, along with 30 other dogs, from a severe hoarding situation where conditions were terrible. Our rescue and several others stepped in to give her a second chance at life. She is now safe and ready to find a loving, stable home. Wisteria is truly a gem! She is super sweet, quiet, and gentle. While she may be a little shy when first meeting new people, once she gets to know you, she comes out of her shell and her charming personality shines through. She also enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a confident, gentle canine companion! Because of her past, Wisteria is still learning the basics of home life. She is currently working hard on her house training and learning about walking politely on a leash. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public in Oklahoma. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Frank is a 3 year old Yorkie with a bright little spark in him. He loves to zip around the yard and he’s great with other dogs and cats. He can be a bit barky, so a quiet apartment may not be the best match for him, but a home with some space and patience will let him shine. He’s still settling into his foster home and taking everything in, yet he’s already come so far. In just a week he’s gone from unsure to playful and silly, and he now follows his foster mom everywhere. He’s about 10 pounds and almost fully vetted, and he’ll be neutered while in our care. Frank is working on his leash skills and will do well with gentle structure. Since we’re still getting to know him, we’re leaning toward a home with older kids or no kids for now. Amelia is a small 3 year old Yorkie mix at about 13 pounds with a soft black and brindle coat. She came in with Frank and we think they may be related. She arrived in rough shape, matted and never vetted, but she’s been fully checked, vaccinated and groomed, and she’s already starting to bloom. She needed time to trust, and after about a week she let her foster mom handle her. Now she melts into your lap and would stay there as long as you’ll have her. She’s still taking in this new life and grows a little more confident every day. Amelia had puppies in her previous home and she’ll be spayed while in our care. Because she can be timid with new people, she may do best in an adult home where things stay calm and predictable.
