Story
Kazhem is a very handsome, somewhat shy Akita mix who warms up slowly to new people. But once he is comfortable he will share his goofy personality with you, running zoomies in the grass and showing off his great smile and happy tail wag.He gets along great with other dogs on the beach, the trails and probably in the dog park, but would prefer to be the only doggo in his forever home. Once Kazhem bonds with you he`s very devoted and wants to be with you all the time. Retirees, professionals who work at home, and anyone else who could make him a part of their daily life would be his dream family!

Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Tadeo is the complete package. On the outside he is a flashy red/black brindle with deep expressive eyes, weighing approximately 50 lbs. On the inside he is the essence of affection and vivaciousness with a sprinkling of puppy mischief, and it’s what makes him completely irresistible! At approximately 2 years old, he loves to play with his canine buddies but at the end of the day, everything’s alright with the world when he is snuggling with his humans. He is a master cuddler and will mesmerize you with his adoring eyes and loving mannerisms. When we rescued Tadeo from the shelter, we felt confident he was an Akita/Chow mix. There was no denying his blue Chow tongue, but he had many Akita characteristics. Much to our surprise his DNA test said he has no Akita genes! It makes no difference to us! For you Akita lovers, if you’re looking for a Northern breed with a stunning coat and outstanding temperament, don’t let his lack of Akita genes deter you because you don’t need any test to know his DNA is 100% lover! He is a staff favorite at the kennel, but what we pray for is a forever home for Tadeo before the holidays so he can experience the love and joy of having his own family. We are looking to place him in a home with someone with Northern breed experience. Tadeo is a people dog, however as is true to his breed mix he and can be protective of them and will bark to alert you of strangers approaching. Because he’s still a pup, he needs someone who is home and can commit to a training and socialization program to keep him on the right path to maintaining his incredible temperament. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application found on our website here: https://www.namasteakitarescue.com/how-do-i-adopt There you will find helpful information about the adoption process, FAQ's, etc **PLEASE NOTE, we must first approve an application before a meeting can be arranged between a prospective adopter and our dogs. Hiro appears to be an Akita and German Shepherd Mix. He is absolutely wonderful! We are not sure of his breed for sure, but he is a big fluffy sweet boy! He appears to get along with other dogs and is a talker and loves people. He has been with us since July 4th. Hiro is available for general adoption and we advise any potential adopters to consult with their veterinarians to determine what type of treatment they will need to do prior to committing to adopting (Hiro has tested as high antigen heartworm positive). Story
Duchess, ID # D21-096, was found and brought to the shelter on 9/26/2021 and she is looking for a new loving home. Duchess is a friendly, quiet, playful, affectionate, smart, spayed and micro-chipped female Akita Mix and she is a little over a year old. She is black and white, sweet-tempered and she has been seen by our veterinarian to assess the injuries she had when she came to us. It appears she had a broken leg at some point but evidently didn't get care for it and it healed incorrectly, leaving her with a strange walking and running gait. Our vet assures us that it is healed and that Duchess isn't in pain from it. Now that she's feeling better, she is a happy girl, enjoying the play yard when it's her turn to be out there, running around. Duchess would do best in a home with calm, patient adults and young children should be avoided. Since she's already spayed and chipped, her fee is only $30 for our special adoption rate. If you'd like to meet Duchess, please call the Escalon Animal Shelter at 209-838-9908 or send email to escalonshelter@yahoo.com to make an appointment to meet her. Escalon Animal Shelter 25100 E. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Stark was recently surrendered to us by a loving family. He's hoping to find a new loving family that's familiar with Akitas. For an American Akita, Stark is on the small side weighing in at about 97 pounds. In his previous home, Stark lived with a small dog (Shiba Inu) and two middle-school-aged kids. He's a typical Akita: Playful, loving and loyal with the people in his household — less so with strangers, especially when they visit his property. Luckily, his previous home used positive reinforcement training, so Stark starts to like houseguests within a day or two. To be fair, that's what his ancestors were bred for. If you're not familiar with American Akita's we strongly recommend doing some research before coming to meet Stark. If you have other dogs in your home, we'd also appreciate you bringing them to meet him prior to adoption. Stark would do best in a home with kids 13 and older. For more information about Stark or if you would like to meet him, please contact: Marine Humane Society 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. Novato, CA 415-506-6225 www.marinhumane.org/ Stark's Animal ID is: 271226 (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sweet Bonded Sibling Akitas Need New Home Hyde and Maura are gorgeous Akitas, brother and sister, who were recently rescued from a neglectful situation after Maura was found wandering the streets. Luckily, some kind people stepped in and rescued and reunited them both. They are approximately 8 years old and still have plenty of energy and love to take walks.  The siblings are bonded and we would prefer not to separate them. They want to sleep and cuddle together and it’s heartwarming to see how much they love and depend on each other. They love to ride in a car; they are house trained; and they walk well on the leash. It is clear that no one has cared for them in a very long time, yet they are friendly and sweet.  They are currently being boarded at a vet and have not shown any sign of aggression either with humans or dogs. They are now up-to-date on their shots, chipped, spayed/neutered and the vet has treated their minor issues due to the neglect. Maura weighs approximately 75 pounds and Hyde is approximately 95 pounds. Hyde and Maura really deserve a second shot at life in a home together. They are so sweet, smart and loving and are so excited to be back together. If you think you have a home that has room for two larger dogs and can give them the love and attention they need, please contact The Labelle Foundation at: The Labelle Foundation Call/text 310-433-6247 @thelabellefoundation https://labellefoundation.org (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
We have been fostering Zydeco for Norsled Husky rescue organization. He is in need of adoption or a new foster home. He is 1 and 1/2 years old and about 50-55lbs. Handsome, energetic, house and crate trained, and likes people. He is walking well on leash most of the time. He still needs some training. Best would be a home with another dog to play hard with him in a secure yard.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sequoia is super sweet, energetic, and quite unique, maybe even a little quirky. She’s very friendly and affectionate with people, and not reactive to dogs on walks. She loves belly rubs. Sequoia doesn’t seem to have a lot of leash-walking experience, and likes to keep tabs on her human by circling around you and nudging you along, which could be part of her herding dog instincts. She can be a little anxious and is not particularly interested in toys, preferring to be out and about and observing everything going on. She would likely do best in an active household where she can be engaged. She is housetrained. Sequoia is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info The first step will be to set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, zoom, or facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Following that, if you feel like it could be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will help coordinate a socially-distanced meeting in person so that you can meet your potential family member up-close and personal. Thank you for your patience during this time. We really appreciate your support.

Story
ADOPT STORM AND HER ADOPTION IS WAIVED! STORM’s Adoption Fee has been paid for a generous member of her fan club, so if you adopt STORM, the fee will be waived. Storm is ready to take on the world! She loves to be out for walks, and would probably prefer running. She has lots of energy, especially at the beginning of a walk. Later, she likes to sniff everything. She’s great with other dogs and friendly with new people. She went to the grand opening of the new Paco Collars location, sporting her new custom collar, and was the life of the party. She likely was a family dog in the past, and settles nicely for cuddling on the couch. Like most huskies, she would be best in a home with a secure yard. She is housetrained. Storm is currently in a foster home.
