Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Plum, who we affectionately refer to as Alice. Alice displays a gentle and sweet demeanor, and really enjoys children. If given the opportunity, she loves to snuggle in bed. She delights in showing affection by licking faces endlessly. She is generally quiet and composed once settled into her environment. Alice is bright and quick to learn. She is an athlete and enjoys bouncing around enthusiastically. She gets along with other dogs after being given the opportunity of slow introductions, but she doesn't like to share treats or food and those should be given to her individually.    She can have big feelings when it comes to loud vehicles, lawn mowers, and new dogs but with patience, time and training her reaction to those triggers should diminish over time. Want to learn more about Alice and see if she is your newest family member? Apply today!  Plum is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Niko is a wonderful companion who gets along well with my dog and kids. He is very food-motivated and eager to learn, making training a fun and rewarding experience. Silly and attention-loving, Niko does well in his kennel. He occasionally picks up non-dog toys like shoes and towels, so it's important to keep an eye on him and swap them for appropriate toys. Niko would thrive with basic training courses and consistency. He doesn't show animosity towards kids, but confident or larger children are best, as he can be a lively, zoomy, and jumpy bundle of energy. When he encounters something unfamiliar, he tiptoes toward it with curiosity. He adores having his jowls and chin rubbed and hasn't shown any food or toy aggression. We're working on a soft mouth when he's excited. Niko enjoys toppls, kongs, and lickmats in his kennel and hasn't destroyed any stuffed toys. He stays gated in my office and is 90% potty trained on a schedule. With a bit of training and consistency, Niko will make a fantastic addition to any family. Niko is from a local impound. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Barbara! She ticks off all the boxes for an ideal dog, although she does have some mobility challenges. Barbara is excellent in her kennel, where she also sleeps at night. She gets along great with other dogs, enjoying both playtime and cuddles with them. She's a good traveler in the car. Barbara rarely barks, usually only when she's excited during play with other dogs. If she feels stuck on a rug and can't cross the wooden floor, she might whine. While she manages well in her wheelchair for short periods, she struggles on hard flooring and prefers carpet or rugs. She's an amazing little dog! While we're uncertain about her interactions with cats and younger children due to lack of exposure, I believe she'd do well with both. Barbara is generally fine with strangers, a bit reserved initially but quick to warm up. Despite her limitations, she's fond of snuggling, whether on furniture or with a fuzzy blanket and dog bed. Barbara adores playing with her toys, chewing on bones, and engaging with the other dogs in the household. Despite her mobility issues, she's just as active and playful as ever. One of her ears always stands up, while the other never does. Barbara's typical day involves spending time at home with my husband, lounging on her dog bed, playing with the other dogs, and taking naps in her kennel. Several days a week, she accompanies me to the vet clinic where she spends the day kenneled. She receives plenty of attention and love from everyone at the clinic, watching us work and interacting with various dogs and cats. She's a joy in the kennel, and her involuntary little kicks are absolutely adorable as she hops around in and out of her cart. Barbara is from an owner surrender. Story
Hey, I’m Surly. I’m a 10 year old English Bulldog. Although I am 10, I definitely still have some spunk in me.  I enjoy short walks but will definitely tell you when I’m over my walk and want to go back home to sleep on the couch.  I love cuddles and being covered up with a blanket while I sleep. I have a lot of sass and will tell you when I need something. I expect you to share every dish of food you make with me. I am potty and kennel trained but love being left out of the kennel to snooze on the couch while you’re away.I would never get into anything in the home and don’t really play with toys but I absolutely love bones.  I should go to a calmer house to live out my golden years. I have gotten 8 teeth removed so I’ll need yearly dental check ups to ensure the rest of my teeth are in good health and stay nice and clean. I had some masses on my body tested but they came back benign so thankfully everything is clear there. There should be no issues going forward. I am good with cats. I’ll either cuddle with them or ignore them depending on my mood. I am okay with dogs as long as they are calm and leave my food alone. I don’t like when other dogs are playing or running around too much. I’m a great car rider as well. On our walks or out in public, I really love meeting strangers and letting them say hi to me. I normally will stop walking when someone is approaching in hopes that they will see me staying at them and say hi to me! I have such a big personality and would love a bed to sleep in. Oh yeah, I always sleep in bed cuddled up next to my foster momma as well! I will definitely make you laugh every day. I am just a goof ball of a doggo and would love to meet you! Xoxo, Surly Butt Butt Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $195.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 4:02 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $450 plus taxMeet Fitz, a fun-loving puppy who is ready to find his forever home! Fitz is making great progress with housetraining, though he still needs supervision to ensure he goes outside. He does well in his kennel during the workday, occasionally making some noise at first.  He also is happy sleeping in his kennel but of course wont turn down an offer to sleep in bed. Fitz has also spent hours out in the house without any issues, but we recommend gradually increasing his free time, as he is still working on knowing what are his toys to chew on and what are not.  Fitz knows the 'sit' command well and can often be refocused and calmed down with a treat. He is comfortable with having his food taken away mid-meal and is improving at dropping items like toys and sticks when asked, especially if a treat is involved. He's a smart pup who is motivated by food and enjoys training sessions. Fitz is great with other dogs and plays well with his foster sisters, usually listening when they tell him to stop due to his playful puppy energy. On walks, he shows some interest in other dogs but is generally content to let them pass by. Fitz has met kids aged 9-15 and did well with them. He has discovered his voice but could probably do well in a place with shared walls if he's the only dog and has plenty of toys, or with a quieter dog, as one of his foster sisters loves to bark at animals outside and he seems to take her cue when she starts.  Fitz will make a wonderful addition to any family, especially one with other dogs. While a fenced-in yard would be ideal, he will thrive with daily walks and plenty of chew toys. Fitz is full of fun energy and is excited to bring joy to his new home. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //
