Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm Mary!  Are you looking for a girl who wants to cuddle, cover you in kisses and has more energy than you'd expect from a bulldog?  Well then you're in luck because that's me!  I enjoy doing zoomies in my home and I'll dash around on leash when outside too!  I enjoy walks when it isn't too hot.  I also love playing with my doggie friends from playing chase to some wrestling.  I can be a little much for small dogs sometimes, but I do listen when they tell me to take it down a notch.  When I'm tired out I lay all stretched out like a froggie.  Mom says it's adorable!  I like to jump onto the couch and cuddle with my parents too.  I just can't get close enough and also can't help myself from covering them in kisses!  I really like toys and bones, but I will chew on soft toys until I get those squeakers out.  It's best to watch me so I don't accidentally swallow them.  I'm doing great with potty and kennel training on a schedule.  I always go right away when I get in the grass!  It would probably be best if there were no little kids in my home.  I don't realize my size and I know I'd accidentally knock them down.  I also love food and would likely snatch food from their little hands.  Sorry not sorry is my motto when it comes to food haha!    When I came to Underdog, I had a really infected tail. The vets removed that and I feel like a whole new lady! In addition to that, I was spayed, had a dental, and had surgery on my nares and soft palate to breathe better.  I can't wait to meet you and become your bestie and you're beloved baby girl! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Visit this link  www.underdogrescuemn.com/donate   to donate.  (Please note: A Paypal account is not necessary to use Paypal. Story
Hey, I’m Surly. I’m a 10 year old English Bulldog. Although I am 10, I definitely still have some spunk in me.  I enjoy short walks but will definitely tell you when I’m over my walk and want to go back home to sleep on the couch.  I love cuddles and being covered up with a blanket while I sleep. I have a lot of sass and will tell you when I need something. I expect you to share every dish of food you make with me. I am potty and kennel trained but love being left out of the kennel to snooze on the couch while you’re away.I would never get into anything in the home and don’t really play with toys but I absolutely love bones.  I should go to a calmer house to live out my golden years. I have gotten 8 teeth removed so I’ll need yearly dental check ups to ensure the rest of my teeth are in good health and stay nice and clean. I had some masses on my body tested but they came back benign so thankfully everything is clear there. There should be no issues going forward. I am good with cats. I’ll either cuddle with them or ignore them depending on my mood. I am okay with dogs as long as they are calm and leave my food alone. I don’t like when other dogs are playing or running around too much. I’m a great car rider as well. On our walks or out in public, I really love meeting strangers and letting them say hi to me. I normally will stop walking when someone is approaching in hopes that they will see me staying at them and say hi to me! I have such a big personality and would love a bed to sleep in. Oh yeah, I always sleep in bed cuddled up next to my foster momma as well! I will definitely make you laugh every day. I am just a goof ball of a doggo and would love to meet you! Xoxo, Surly Butt Butt Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $195.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 4:02 pm

Fitz is making great progress with housetraining, though he still needs supervision to ensure he goes outside. He does well in his kennel during the workday, occasionally making some noise at first.  He also is happy sleeping in his kennel but of course wont turn down an offer to sleep in bed. Fitz has also spent hours out in the house without any issues, but we recommend gradually increasing his free time, as he is still working on knowing what are his toys to chew on and what are not.  Fitz knows the 'sit' command well and can often be refocused and calmed down with a treat. He is comfortable with having his food taken away mid-meal and is improving at dropping items like toys and sticks when asked, especially if a treat is involved. He's a smart pup who is motivated by food and enjoys training sessions. Fitz is great with other dogs and plays well with his foster sisters, usually listening when they tell him to stop due to his playful puppy energy. On walks, he shows some interest in other dogs but is generally content to let them pass by. Fitz has met kids aged 9-15 and did well with them. He has discovered his voice but could probably do well in a place with shared walls if he's the only dog and has plenty of toys, or with a quieter dog, as one of his foster sisters loves to bark at animals outside and he seems to take her cue when she starts.  Fitz will make a wonderful addition to any family, especially one with other dogs. While a fenced-in yard would be ideal, he will thrive with daily walks and plenty of chew toys. Fitz is full of fun energy and is excited to bring joy to his new home. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Meet Ford, a remarkable Bulldog whose presence is as powerful and steadfast as a mighty river. Just like the characteristics of his breed, Ford embodies kindness and courage, showcasing a unique blend of friendliness and dignity. Now you may not see it by looking into his gorgeous brown eyes, but Ford has suffered in his short life.... he came to the rescue from the streets with a HORRIFIC hernia on his back end, near his rectum. He required two surgeries to correct the hernia and allow him to have a normal life again. He came through with SHINING colors ;) With his well-muscled frame and low-slung stature, Ford is the epitome of a true bruiser, but it's his iconic "sourmug" face that represents his unwavering courage and tenacity. Despite his robust appearance, Ford is a docile and loyal companion, adapting seamlessly to any environment, be it the bustling city or the serene countryside. With Ford by your side, you'll experience the unwavering devotion and unmistakable presence of a Bulldog, a breed that leaves an indelible mark on your heart. Don't miss the opportunity to welcome this incredible Bulldog into your life, as Ford's unique spirit will bring joy, love, and an unmistakable charm that only he can deliver. Some basic information about Ford; he is male, a Bulldog mix, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Ford is not great with other dogs (or cats or other critters) and would be best in a home with either only adults or older children and as a single dog. But his heart will fill your home with all the love you need!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Meet Gayle, a 2-year-old female American Bulldog mix with a stunning apricot and white bicolor coat. Gayle is a high-energy pup who loves spending time with people. She's incredibly friendly and cuddly, always eager to share affection. While Gayle enjoys the company of people, she can be selective with other dogs and might need a patient and experienced owner who can help her navigate her interactions. She's a bit anxious and defensive around other dogs, but with slow exposure and gentle guidance, she has the potential to adjust and become more comfortable over time. We suggest a single dog home for Gayle. If you're an experienced dog owner looking for a loving and energetic companion, Gayle could be the perfect addition to your family. With a little time and patience, she's sure to become a loyal and devoted friend. Come meet Gayle and see if you can be the one to provide her with a forever home filled with love and understanding. Story
Meet Elsa! The true rescue princess! When Elsa was rescued, she was found in a hoarders house with countless animals who were starving, malnourished, and have never felt love. Fast forward to today and she is blossoming into the perfect angel who is gentle, loyal, and kind. Because of Elsa's past, it takes her a moment to warm up to new situations. But once she feels safe, she loves you endlessly and will light up when you walk into the room. Elsa loves walks -she enjoys exploring and learning about the world.  Treats are also the perfect way to her heart!  Elsa likes to romp (runs just like a shepherd!) around the yard with her resident canine and is beginning to chew bones.  And Elsa is the perfect driving companion- she LOVES the car!!  Elsa would love to have another dog in the home to help her feel safe. Being around other dogs is all she's ever known. So with some patience, TLC, and of course treats-- Elsa will become the missing link to your family. She's ready for her next step -- a forever home to call her own. Is that with you?? If you would like to meet Elsa, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

** Can only be seen by appointment: 651-772-8983 **Well hey there! My name is Gus and I'm a handsome, 5 year old Bulldog mix. I was picked up by St. Paul Animal Control and my owner was never found so I was transferred to Animal Ark. I can be a bit shy with new people so I would need some time to get to know you, but I am a sweet boy. I need to go to a home with a fenced in yard, with no children or small animals, and with someone who is willing to teach me how to be a well-mannered boy. I would also need a slow introduction to any potential canine siblings. I am very treat motivated and very smart. Since I'm such a special boy, I can only be met with an approved adoption application. If you think I might be a good fit for you, please contact the shelter!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Plum, who we affectionately refer to as Alice. Alice displays a gentle and sweet demeanor, and really enjoys children. If given the opportunity, she loves to snuggle in bed. She delights in showing affection by licking faces endlessly. She is generally quiet and composed once settled into her environment. Alice is bright and quick to learn. She is an athlete and enjoys bouncing around enthusiastically. She gets along with other dogs after being given the opportunity of slow introductions, but she doesn't like to share treats or food and those should be given to her individually.    She can have big feelings when it comes to loud vehicles, lawn mowers, and new dogs but with patience, time and training her reaction to those triggers should diminish over time. Want to learn more about Alice and see if she is your newest family member? Apply today!  Plum is from a local impound. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Niko is a wonderful companion who gets along well with my dog and kids. He is very food-motivated and eager to learn, making training a fun and rewarding experience. Silly and attention-loving, Niko does well in his kennel. He occasionally picks up non-dog toys like shoes and towels, so it's important to keep an eye on him and swap them for appropriate toys. Niko would thrive with basic training courses and consistency. He doesn't show animosity towards kids, but confident or larger children are best, as he can be a lively, zoomy, and jumpy bundle of energy. When he encounters something unfamiliar, he tiptoes toward it with curiosity. He adores having his jowls and chin rubbed and hasn't shown any food or toy aggression. We're working on a soft mouth when he's excited. Niko enjoys toppls, kongs, and lickmats in his kennel and hasn't destroyed any stuffed toys. He stays gated in my office and is 90% potty trained on a schedule. With a bit of training and consistency, Niko will make a fantastic addition to any family. Niko is from a local impound. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Barbara! She ticks off all the boxes for an ideal dog, although she does have some mobility challenges. Barbara is excellent in her kennel, where she also sleeps at night. She gets along great with other dogs, enjoying both playtime and cuddles with them. She's a good traveler in the car. Barbara rarely barks, usually only when she's excited during play with other dogs. If she feels stuck on a rug and can't cross the wooden floor, she might whine. While she manages well in her wheelchair for short periods, she struggles on hard flooring and prefers carpet or rugs. She's an amazing little dog! While we're uncertain about her interactions with cats and younger children due to lack of exposure, I believe she'd do well with both. Barbara is generally fine with strangers, a bit reserved initially but quick to warm up. Despite her limitations, she's fond of snuggling, whether on furniture or with a fuzzy blanket and dog bed. Barbara adores playing with her toys, chewing on bones, and engaging with the other dogs in the household. Despite her mobility issues, she's just as active and playful as ever. One of her ears always stands up, while the other never does. Barbara's typical day involves spending time at home with my husband, lounging on her dog bed, playing with the other dogs, and taking naps in her kennel. Several days a week, she accompanies me to the vet clinic where she spends the day kenneled. She receives plenty of attention and love from everyone at the clinic, watching us work and interacting with various dogs and cats. She's a joy in the kennel, and her involuntary little kicks are absolutely adorable as she hops around in and out of her cart. Barbara is from an owner surrender. Story
This boy was dumped off at an auction place by his owners. Apparently their new landlord wouldn’t let him stay and that was their solution. He waited for them but was caught by a volunteer's house and brought in. He is a sweet, sweet boy who was definitely cared for. We’re positive he is housetrained and does well on a leash. He does well around other dogs his size, have not put him with smaller dogs. We aren’t sure about cats but know he can learn those manners. He loves to be around people, does well with kids and would love to go on any adventure with his new family. He would do best in a yard to get some energy out but it doesn't have to be too big…. just something he can walk around in but extra walks or dog park would do best for him. He is just a big lover who was let down by one family and is hoping for a second chance with a new one. Hank is being fostered in TN at this time but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

This girl was found at an auto shop, hence her name. She is very friendly and playful. She is around other dogs her age and does well. She likes to be in charge so she would do best in a home with calmer, submissive dogs. She will need puppy training as we aren’t sure if she has had any. She likes toys and loves to show them off to people! She is good around kids but is excitable so will need to learn how to be around little ones. She is learning how to be on a leash and does okay in a kennel. She’s just an active girl who needs an active family to keep her busy. She is just looking for fun times and a family to share them with her. She is being fostered in TN but we do transport using the most animal-friendly transport on the road. East TN. Out of state welcome! If you are seeing this on adopt a pet the float for transport and health certificates for travel are included in the adoption fee. Transport may be available to your area in the northeast or Great Lakes areas. We use Rescue riders for our transport needs because they are amazing with our pups! Meet Thumper! This little guy is about 40 lbs of playful and fun energy. He’s sweet and good with people and other dogs. He’s about 2.5 years old and is a mixed breed but a really cool Mixed breed. I mean look at his cute ears. He’s adorable. He’s already crate trained and house trained. NO CATS. He is not fond of cats. Probably won’t do well with smaller rodent type animals either. He will scream SQUIRREL! And the rest is history. Haha. He would do well with children over the age of 10 because he’s very playful and may knock smaller children down during playtime.
