Story
Hey, I’m Surly. I’m a 10 year old English Bulldog. Although I am 10, I definitely still have some spunk in me.  I enjoy short walks but will definitely tell you when I’m over my walk and want to go back home to sleep on the couch.  I love cuddles and being covered up with a blanket while I sleep. I have a lot of sass and will tell you when I need something. I expect you to share every dish of food you make with me. I am potty and kennel trained but love being left out of the kennel to snooze on the couch while you’re away.I would never get into anything in the home and don’t really play with toys but I absolutely love bones.  I should go to a calmer house to live out my golden years. I have gotten 8 teeth removed so I’ll need yearly dental check ups to ensure the rest of my teeth are in good health and stay nice and clean. I had some masses on my body tested but they came back benign so thankfully everything is clear there. There should be no issues going forward. I am good with cats. I’ll either cuddle with them or ignore them depending on my mood. I am okay with dogs as long as they are calm and leave my food alone. I don’t like when other dogs are playing or running around too much. I’m a great car rider as well. On our walks or out in public, I really love meeting strangers and letting them say hi to me. I normally will stop walking when someone is approaching in hopes that they will see me staying at them and say hi to me! I have such a big personality and would love a bed to sleep in. Oh yeah, I always sleep in bed cuddled up next to my foster momma as well! I will definitely make you laugh every day. I am just a goof ball of a doggo and would love to meet you! Xoxo, Surly Butt Butt Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $500 plus taxFitz is a fun loving puppy. He is picking up on housetraining, he had a few accidents but is starting to go to the door. We have a treat bucket at the door so he is associating treats with going potty outside. He absolutely loves his kennel. The door is left open and he is hoarding bones in there. He’s learning to sit and wait for me to say OK before he eats. We are also working on door manners so that when the door is open, he does not bolt outside. He is actually a pretty smart dog. He is great with dogs and curious about the cat however she does not like Fitz at all. He met plenty of people at a recent gathering and loved them all! He has met some kids agea 9-15 and did well. The baby he met was a bit scary to him. He has discovered his voice, puts his butt up in the air and his tail gets going and he doesn’t stop barking until you get down on the floor and play so I would say no to a shared wall BUT he is smart and will eventually learn.  Overall he’s a good puppy. He will make a great addition to any family, especially one with other dogs. He has a lot of fun energy.Fitz is currently being treated for Ringworm. This is a very common fungal infection but can take time to fully treat and clear. It will require proper environmental management, compliance with treatments and attending the rechecks at MARS Veterinary Services if adopted before the infection is cleared. Treatment will be covered by Midwest Animal Rescue if done at MARS Vet.  If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Hi! I'm Busta Rhymes but you can call me handsome. I'm a shortie with a cute face and a big heart. When I got to the rescue, they told me that I had two hurt legs. I knew something was wrong because it hurt quite a bit. I had surgery on one leg already and i'm all healed up. I'm getting ready for surgery on the other leg. (The rescue is covering this expense) Anyone who wants to adopt me should know that they would have to bring me to see my doctor in St. Cloud every couple weeks for a little while because he does the water treadmill with me to make sure I heal well. I'm awesome at it. I may need a little tlc but if you pick me, I promise to love you so much you won't mind the extra effort. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I bet you know the difference between a momma’s boy and a guy’s guy. Don’t get me wrong, I do love everyone of all ages, big and small but if you gave me an option, I’m always gonna roll with the boys. Bubba here, and I am a guy’s guy through and through, so I’d love to have one around my new home. While we’re at it, maybe throw in a companion; a fellow canine would be a great joy to me. I don’t care what kind of dog is in the new place, it’s easy for me to make friends. Although, I do have to say, like the 35 lb adult English Bulldog that I am, I do tend to get a little guarded with my stuff, so some extra toys for sharing and a friendly nudge of a redirect could be of service.  Did I hear you say car ride? Man, I love those! Windows down, tongue out, and wind blowing through my cheeks, that’s the good stuff. While I am playful and very social, don’t misunderstand, I can also kick back and be a total couch potato. I love those lazy days. Except when that thing comes out of the closet. You know what I’m talking about? It makes a lot of strange noise, sucks my leftover treats that fell out of my mouth out of the carpet, and seems to follow me around everywhere I go. OH! A vacuum is what humans call it. That thing will scare the living daylights out of me. One other thing to know, I am on eye drops for my dry eyes. I will need those potentially lifelong. My eyes feel so much better with that and will happily take my drops. Since I'm pretty well trained when it comes to my leash and going potty, I don’t require a fenced yard. I like going on a little walk here and again, especially if I can make new acquaintances along the way. I also don’t mind taking a rest in my kennel here and there, that’s a place that doesn’t bother me. Maybe if I show you my good boy qualities, and sit when you tell me to, you could reward me with a bone, they’re my favorite! If you’re looking for a social yet respectable best friend and a snuggle partner, I’ll be just that! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Plum but we affectionately refer to her as Alice, a name that seems to resonate well with her, even though her response to names is not particularly strong yet. Alice is thriving and displays a gentle and sweet demeanor, especially towards my 11-year-old son. Evidently, she has spent considerable time with children and relishes their company. She eagerly joins my son in bed, finding her way under the covers to peacefully doze off—a clear indication of her yearning for a permanent home. Alice's physical attributes contribute to her charm, boasting surprisingly soft fur and a tender face, possibly hinting at some American Bulldog lineage. She delights in showering affection by licking faces endlessly and enjoys being cradled on her back like a baby for extended periods. While she responds well to commands like "crate up," occasional reinforcement is needed. Generally quiet and composed once settled, Alice has never indulged in people food, eliminating any begging behavior. However, if something piques her interest, she positions herself as close as allowed, even attempting to snatch it if not deterred. Her recall skills, especially outdoors, are lacking, likely stemming from a past where she had ample freedom to roam. Reactivity and impulse control pose challenges, particularly around lawnmowers, other dogs, loud vehicles, and joggers. Her behavior around these situations can be unpredictable at times so it necessitates careful management with a gentle leader and harness. A friend, who is a dog trainer, has confirmed these challenges but believes they are not insurmountable, with patience and professional guidance. Residing in a wooded area with a fenced yard, Alice spends her time observing wildlife, offering a positive outlet for her energy. She coexists well with another dog in the household, and her occasional resource guarding has significantly diminished over time. Despite some stubbornness, Alice is bright and quick to learn when motivated. Her sleep habits lean towards a more laid-back hound-like pattern, not exhibiting an early riser tendency. Alice's athleticism shines through in the backyard, where she bounces energetically and engages in enthusiastic pursuits. It's worth noting that she has endured past abuse, evident in moments of flinching during seemingly innocuous activities, highlighting the importance of understanding her background in shaping her behavior. Overall, with the right guidance and patience, Alice, the sweet and spirited dog, has the potential to overcome her challenges and thrive in a loving forever home. Plum is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
