Meet Frodo! He's a bulldog mix (best guess) born approx. 12/6/23. Frodo is all white except for a large brown spot on his left ear, a small brown spot on his right ear and a blackish brown spot on his tail. Like his brother Havoc, he has the cutest black spots on his nose. He has stolen our hearts with his sweet and gentle nature. He is the smallest of his brothers at his foster home and has the finest features. Even though he is small, he still likes to have fun and hangs in there with his brothers. He loves to be cuddled. While he is still too young to be fully potty trained so that's a work in progress. He frequently goes potty when he is outside or on his puppy pads so we think he is figuring it out. He loves to chase the older resident dog and snuggle with the kids in his foster family. He'd love to meet you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Havoc! He is a bulldog mix (best guess) born approx.12/6/23. Havoc is almost all white except for a few spots of black on his back and a large black spot around his tail that looks like a lucky horseshoe! He has the cutest black spots on his nose. Havoc a fun-loving, rolly-polly puppy who loves to cuddle his foster mama. He is the first one in her lap in the morning. He is at a foster home with two of his brothers and he definitely seems to be their leader who likes to engage them in play.  He is brave and sweet. He loves a quick playtime and then a long nap. Since he is so young, he is not potty trained but he goes potty outside every time we take him out. He seems to understand that he should do his business outdoors. He is currently in a foster home with kids and an older resident dog. He does well with all of them. He'd love to meet you! Story
Hey, I’m Surly. I’m a 10 year old English Bulldog. Although I am 10, I definitely still have some spunk in me.  I enjoy short walks but will definitely tell you when I’m over my walk and want to go back home to sleep on the couch.  I love cuddles and being covered up with a blanket while I sleep. I have a lot of sass and will tell you when I need something. I expect you to share every dish of food you make with me. I am potty and kennel trained but love being left out of the kennel to snooze on the couch while you’re away.I would never get into anything in the home and don’t really play with toys but I absolutely love bones.  I should go to a calmer house to live out my golden years. I have gotten 8 teeth removed so I’ll need yearly dental check ups to ensure the rest of my teeth are in good health and stay nice and clean. I had some masses on my body tested but they came back benign so thankfully everything is clear there. There should be no issues going forward. I am good with cats. I’ll either cuddle with them or ignore them depending on my mood. I am okay with dogs as long as they are calm and leave my food alone. I don’t like when other dogs are playing or running around too much. I’m a great car rider as well. On our walks or out in public, I really love meeting strangers and letting them say hi to me. I normally will stop walking when someone is approaching in hopes that they will see me staying at them and say hi to me! I have such a big personality and would love a bed to sleep in. Oh yeah, I always sleep in bed cuddled up next to my foster momma as well! I will definitely make you laugh every day. I am just a goof ball of a doggo and would love to meet you! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee $300 plus taxDesi has not had an easy go of things. It seems every time she thinks she is settled and home forever something happens out of her control. Back in December of 2022 her then owner dumped her off in an unfamiliar area in a snowstorm, she also had a partial blockage that resulted in surgery. We know that Desi wasn’t  treated very well by her owners as she bears scars of the improper use of a shock collar. Once Desi was healed up she found her new best friend and had been living happily since March of 2023. Sadly her best friend is dealing with serious human medical problems and is unable to give Desi, who he calls Lulu, the care she needs. So she is now seeking a new home yet again.Desi LOVES balls she will play fetch for hours if you are up for it.  Always drops the ball in front of you waiting for you to throw it next. Her love of balls also means she needs to be monitored when around toys as she can also tear them apart. (We don’t want her to have another blockage) Desi can be particular with the dogs she spends time with so for now she would do best without other dogs in the home. While Desi can be a typical stubborn bulldog she also is very oriented towards people and wants to share her love with them and keep them safe even from strangers. Desi needs to continue working on understanding that most people are not a threat to her or those she loves. Given her past this will take time and patience.Desi will require a fenced in yard in her adoptive home.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Adoption Fee: $650, plus taxes Location: Foster Home 4 month old Primrose is a small dog with a big personality. She loves to play with the much larger resident dogs, and is not afraid to stand up for herself. Primrose does not shy away from playing tug of war with the big dogs, and does not give up easily. She enjoys running around with her much bigger playmates. Primrose loves to play with her puppy toys and does not mind larger dog toys. It is fun to watch her drag the large toys around. After playing, Primrose likes to curl up and snuggle with her humans, she may try and steal your socks. Your lap is her favorite place to snuggle and sleep. She loves to be picked up and makes the funniest noises. She likes to sleep in bed with her humans, but does not resist going into the kennel at night and is very calm. She is potty training and understands "outside" and will go potty outside. She has had accidents in the house, but she is making progress like any puppy would be. Primrose is working on leash training and is getting better at it. Primrose has been spayed, microchipped, and has been brought up to date on her puppy vaccinations based on her age. Story
Surly is a beautiful puppy, she'll be two on April 29th. She's been a great dog and loves laying around cuddling with her younger brother Finnegan (also available). We rescued Surly from Save-a-Bull as a young puppy. She's always been a loving and affectionate dog who loves our young kids. Surly loves the Snow and doesn't mind going on walks even when it's cold! She is very smart and knows commands like sit, shake a paw, lay-down up, come, stay, etc. She is still young though and will need additional training. We are looking for someone who loves big dogs and knows how to care for them properly. Surly is strong puppy! You need to be in pretty good shape to walk her. The ideal owner is able to take both Surly and her brother Finn or at least has another larger dog at home for Surly to play with. Ideally you have experience with the breed as well.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Plum but we affectionately refer to her as Alice, a name that seems to resonate well with her, even though her response to names is not particularly strong yet. Alice is thriving and displays a gentle and sweet demeanor, especially towards my 11-year-old son. Evidently, she has spent considerable time with children and relishes their company. She eagerly joins my son in bed, finding her way under the covers to peacefully doze off—a clear indication of her yearning for a permanent home. Alice's physical attributes contribute to her charm, boasting surprisingly soft fur and a tender face, possibly hinting at some American Bulldog lineage. She delights in showering affection by licking faces endlessly and enjoys being cradled on her back like a baby for extended periods. While she responds well to commands like "crate up," occasional reinforcement is needed. Generally quiet and composed once settled, Alice has never indulged in people food, eliminating any begging behavior. However, if something piques her interest, she positions herself as close as allowed, even attempting to snatch it if not deterred. Her recall skills, especially outdoors, are lacking, likely stemming from a past where she had ample freedom to roam. Reactivity and impulse control pose challenges, particularly around lawnmowers, other dogs, loud vehicles, and joggers. Her behavior around these situations can be unpredictable at times so it necessitates careful management with a gentle leader and harness. A friend, who is a dog trainer, has confirmed these challenges but believes they are not insurmountable, with patience and professional guidance. Residing in a wooded area with a fenced yard, Alice spends her time observing wildlife, offering a positive outlet for her energy. She coexists well with another dog in the household, and her occasional resource guarding has significantly diminished over time. Despite some stubbornness, Alice is bright and quick to learn when motivated. Her sleep habits lean towards a more laid-back hound-like pattern, not exhibiting an early riser tendency. Alice's athleticism shines through in the backyard, where she bounces energetically and engages in enthusiastic pursuits. It's worth noting that she has endured past abuse, evident in moments of flinching during seemingly innocuous activities, highlighting the importance of understanding her background in shaping her behavior. Overall, with the right guidance and patience, Alice, the sweet and spirited dog, has the potential to overcome her challenges and thrive in a loving forever home. Plum is from a local impound. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Chewy! Some of my favorite things are chew toys, tennis balls, wet food, and people! I’m picking up on potty training quickly when taken out frequently throughout the day, and I am generally quiet in my crate at night—I might whine a little at first because I just want to be next to my person, but once I settle down, my foster mom has been able to sleep through the night. I have also done well with the cats in my foster home. I mostly ignore them. I do like to use my mouth to play, so I need someone who is dedicated to puppy training and providing me with plenty of appropriate things to chew on. If you’re ready for puppy energy, I would love to be your new best friend! Chewy is from a local reservation partner. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Hi All!  Phyllis here.  I've been with my foster mom now for about a month and we are really figuring each other out. I've worked really hard on my communication skills and now foster mom knows when I need to go potty or need something else (like pets and loves).  Sometimes she says I talk too much though, but really it's just cause I don't want her to forget about me. Sometimes she has the nerve to go in a different room without me so I have to let her know she forgot about me until I find her.  At night I don't sleep in a kennel anymore but instead I get to sleep on a big comfy pile of blankets.  I feel like the princess and the pea! The newest and best thing that we figured out is that I like to PLAY!  Foster mom brought me home a "lamby" from the rescue and I love it.  We play fetch with it and I almost always bring it back.  I like to snuggle and chew on it.  I love it.  I get tired pretty quickly but it's fun to play as long as I have the energy. When I'm done playing I like to take naps.  I'm pretty adamant that I like to be tucked in though, and sometimes I won't go to sleep if I'm not. Are you a good "tucker"? If so, I want to meet you. Phyllis needs a home where she can live out her days knowing she is loved and wanted for the beautiful heart that she has.  Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Phyllis is from a local impound.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. He comes in like a wrecking ball at full speed, and is solid like a tank. He wants to be with you all the time, ideally on your face but he'll settle for your lap. He's been really friendly and playful with all the animals he's met, and every new person is a new best friend to love on! He takes a while to settle down, but then he'll snuggle in and be calm.
