Story
Hey, I’m Surly. I’m a 10 year old English Bulldog. Although I am 10, I definitely still have some spunk in me.  I enjoy short walks but will definitely tell you when I’m over my walk and want to go back home to sleep on the couch.  I love cuddles and being covered up with a blanket while I sleep. I have a lot of sass and will tell you when I need something. I expect you to share every dish of food you make with me. I am potty and kennel trained but love being left out of the kennel to snooze on the couch while you’re away.I would never get into anything in the home and don’t really play with toys but I absolutely love bones.  I should go to a calmer house to live out my golden years. I have gotten 8 teeth removed so I’ll need yearly dental check ups to ensure the rest of my teeth are in good health and stay nice and clean. I had some masses on my body tested but they came back benign so thankfully everything is clear there. There should be no issues going forward. I am good with cats. I’ll either cuddle with them or ignore them depending on my mood. I am okay with dogs as long as they are calm and leave my food alone. I don’t like when other dogs are playing or running around too much. I’m a great car rider as well. On our walks or out in public, I really love meeting strangers and letting them say hi to me. I normally will stop walking when someone is approaching in hopes that they will see me staying at them and say hi to me! I have such a big personality and would love a bed to sleep in. Oh yeah, I always sleep in bed cuddled up next to my foster momma as well! I will definitely make you laugh every day. I am just a goof ball of a doggo and would love to meet you! Xoxo, Surly Butt Butt Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $195.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 21, 2024, 1:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $450 plus taxMeet Fitz, a fun-loving puppy who is ready to find his forever home! Fitz is making great progress with housetraining, though he still needs supervision to ensure he goes outside. He does well in his kennel during the workday, occasionally making some noise at first.  He also is happy sleeping in his kennel but of course wont turn down an offer to sleep in bed. Fitz has also spent hours out in the house without any issues, but we recommend gradually increasing his free time, as he is still working on knowing what are his toys to chew on and what are not.  Fitz knows the 'sit' command well and can often be refocused and calmed down with a treat. He is comfortable with having his food taken away mid-meal and is improving at dropping items like toys and sticks when asked, especially if a treat is involved. He's a smart pup who is motivated by food and enjoys training sessions. Fitz is great with other dogs and plays well with his foster sisters, usually listening when they tell him to stop due to his playful puppy energy. On walks, he shows some interest in other dogs but is generally content to let them pass by. Fitz has met kids aged 9-15 and did well with them. He has discovered his voice but could probably do well in a place with shared walls if he's the only dog and has plenty of toys, or with a quieter dog, as one of his foster sisters loves to bark at animals outside and he seems to take her cue when she starts.  Fitz will make a wonderful addition to any family, especially one with other dogs. While a fenced-in yard would be ideal, he will thrive with daily walks and plenty of chew toys. Fitz is full of fun energy and is excited to bring joy to his new home. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm Mary!  Are you looking for a girl who wants to cuddle, cover you in kisses and has more energy than you'd expect from a bulldog?  Well then you're in luck because that's me!  I enjoy doing zoomies in my home and I'll dash around on leash when outside too!  I enjoy walks when it isn't too hot.  I also love playing with my doggie friends from playing chase to some wrestling.  I can be a little much for small dogs sometimes, but I do listen when they tell me to take it down a notch.  When I'm tired out I lay all stretched out like a froggie.  Mom says it's adorable!  I like to jump onto the couch and cuddle with my parents too.  I just can't get close enough and also can't help myself from covering them in kisses!  I really like toys and bones, but I will chew on soft toys until I get those squeakers out.  It's best to watch me so I don't accidentally swallow them.  I'm doing great with potty and kennel training on a schedule.  I always go right away when I get in the grass!  It would probably be best if there were no little kids in my home.  I don't realize my size and I know I'd accidentally knock them down.  I also love food and would likely snatch food from their little hands.  Sorry not sorry is my motto when it comes to food haha!    When I came to Underdog, I had a really infected tail. The vets removed that and I feel like a whole new lady! In addition to that, I was spayed, had a dental, and had surgery on my nares and soft palate to breathe better.  I can't wait to meet you and become your bestie and you're beloved baby girl! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Meet Ford, a remarkable Bulldog whose presence is as powerful and steadfast as a mighty river. Just like the characteristics of his breed, Ford embodies kindness and courage, showcasing a unique blend of friendliness and dignity. Now you may not see it by looking into his gorgeous brown eyes, but Ford has suffered in his short life.... he came to the rescue from the streets with a HORRIFIC hernia on his back end, near his rectum. He required two surgeries to correct the hernia and allow him to have a normal life again. He came through with SHINING colors ;) With his well-muscled frame and low-slung stature, Ford is the epitome of a true bruiser, but it's his iconic "sourmug" face that represents his unwavering courage and tenacity. Despite his robust appearance, Ford is a docile and loyal companion, adapting seamlessly to any environment, be it the bustling city or the serene countryside. With Ford by your side, you'll experience the unwavering devotion and unmistakable presence of a Bulldog, a breed that leaves an indelible mark on your heart. Don't miss the opportunity to welcome this incredible Bulldog into your life, as Ford's unique spirit will bring joy, love, and an unmistakable charm that only he can deliver. Some basic information about Ford; he is male, a Bulldog mix, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Ford is not great with other dogs (or cats or other critters) and would be best in a home with either only adults or older children and as a single dog. But his heart will fill your home with all the love you need!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Meet Gayle, a 2-year-old female American Bulldog mix with a stunning apricot and white bicolor coat. Gayle is a high-energy pup who loves spending time with people. She's incredibly friendly and cuddly, always eager to share affection. While Gayle enjoys the company of people, she can be selective with other dogs and might need a patient and experienced owner who can help her navigate her interactions. She's a bit anxious and defensive around other dogs, but with slow exposure and gentle guidance, she has the potential to adjust and become more comfortable over time. We suggest a single dog home for Gayle. If you're an experienced dog owner looking for a loving and energetic companion, Gayle could be the perfect addition to your family. With a little time and patience, she's sure to become a loyal and devoted friend. Come meet Gayle and see if you can be the one to provide her with a forever home filled with love and understanding. Story
It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Walter! I like to greet people the old fashioned way, a tip of the nose, a meeting of the eyes, and a formal introduction of who I am. I've always kind of been an old-soul, at least that's what people tell me, with my wrinkled fur and gentle eyes. As an older gentleman I tend to have a bit more patience than these young whippersnapper pups. You'll find me waddling around quite slowly but my tail still wagging none the less! I have been known to snap when nervous, but I have come so far and I just need a little time and patience. Cause I just so want to be your big goofy friend! I have a soft and squishy face to go along with my squishy personality! I am great with my people and great with other dogs too. I am shy at the very first but am on the fast track to love! As a senior dog there's really only one thing I care about ... TREATS ... just kidding, it's being close to others. Being close to others helps remind me that I am here and my story is still being written with infinite possibilities. Perhaps you and I could write the next chapter together?
