Pet Location: Sherry is currently living in a foster home. If you’d like to schedule a time to meet her, please contact Wayside Adoptions at (816)986-4426.My friends at Wayside say:- My foster family said that I am crate trained.- I’m a little shy—slow and steady wins the race with me.- I love the other dog that I live with in foster! My home needs are:- I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to make sure they can “show me the ropes.”Hi there, I’m Sherry! I’m a sweet, silly, playful pup who loves to have fun. I’m shy and timid too, though, and it takes me extra time to warm up and to learn to trust. I hope you’ll stay patient with me as I settle in and learn my new routine. If you give me that extra time, I will blossom into such a nice friend. I’m the sort of puppy who will make you smile and laugh every single day. Wait until you hear me snort when I get excited! I can’t wait to bring a little sunshine and silliness into your life. I’m ready! I’m a darling, 3-month-old, 18-pound (and still growing!) American Bulldog mix, with the cutest little face, perky, expressive ears, soft puppy fur, and an unassuming, goofy, delightful personality. I’m not housebroken yet, but I’m working on it, and I am already crate trained. I’m calm and quiet in my crate, and I don’t have accidents there. I was transferred to Wayside from a rural shelter in Oklahoma that didn’t have space for me. I still vividly remember how scary and confusing that time was for me. I trembled in my kennel, hoping no one would come near me. I just felt so alone and afraid. That’s when Foster Mom came into my life. She took me home and introduced me to a whole new world. I’m still learning new things every day, but life is incredibly good.Every single thing about living in a home is new and strange to me, so my foster family lets me go at my own pace, which has helped to put me at ease. The very best thing about my foster home is the other dog that I live with! She doesn’t mind when I follow her everywhere, or when I curl up next to her for naps, or when I always invite her to play. She has taught me so much about life, and I forget my insecurities as I act like a typical pup when I’m with her. She helps me to feel confident and content. And she just makes me happy. I will need a home with another friendly, social, playful dog who doesn’t mind a little shadow always by their side and who is happy to help me navigate life as I grow

Pet Location: Aries is currently living in a foster home! If you`d like to schedule a time to meet him, please contact Wayside Adoptions at (816) 986-4426.My Friends at Wayside say:- I am housebroken and crate trained in my foster home. - I already know some basic commands.- My favorite thing is to be next to my people and play with my toys!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are:- Cats are much too interesting to me, so my home will need to be cat free.- I must meet other dogs under 30 pounds in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies.Hi there, I’m Aries! I’m a snuggly, chill, laidback, quiet friend who just wants to be by your side. It really is as simple as that for me. A couch to curl up on, my favorite person to give me a belly rub, a few toys to play with…these are the things that make me happy. I hope maybe you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys a peaceful, easy life, because that’s me! And I’m ready to be your dog.I’m a handsome, 6 1/2-year-old, 92-pound bundle of love and sweetness, with gentle eyes, a bright smile, a unique spot of fur on my side that is the shape of a heart, and a happy, friendly, lovely personality. I’m already housebroken and crate trained too, although I might whine a bit as I settle in my crate. It’s just that I’d rather be with you all the time instead of alone in a crate. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so I hope you’ll help me out with that by providing me with nutritious food and light exercise. Getting to a healthy weight will help me feel better and will keep arthritis at bay as I get older. I had an old injury to my left hind leg that has healed on its own, but I still favor it at times. It doesn’t slow me down or keep me from jumping up on the couch though, so life is good!I originally came to Wayside as a wee pup with my whole precious life ahead of me, and I was quickly adopted by a nice family. I’ve had a good life, but sadly, they are no longer able to take care of me. Coming to Wayside felt stressful and lonely, as I sat in my kennel and worried about my future. That’s when Foster Mom came into my life. She has made such a difference for me, taking me home and helping me to relax and enjoy life once again. Ah, it feels so nice to be back in a home, even if this is just a temporary stop on my journey. Hoping that my nex

Meet Bougie – A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Safe Haven Age: 3 years | Spayed | Up to date on all vet care | Microchipped Adoption Fee: $200 Bougie is a sweet, timid pup who’s slowly learning to trust the world again. At just 3 years old, she has already overcome so much after being rescued from a severe hoarding situation where she never received the care or socialization she needed. Because of her past, Bougie is very shy and cautious—but in the right environment, her gentle spirit begins to emerge. Bougie is fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped—ready for her second chance. She is looking for a calm, adult-only home with a securely fenced-in yard and no children. Due to her fearful nature, a home with experience handling shy or undersocialized dogs is a must. Another calm, confident dog in the home could help guide her and make her feel more secure. Bougie won’t be the kind of dog who runs to greet you on day one—but with time, patience, and love, she will blossom into a loyal and deeply grateful companion. If you believe in second chances and have the experience and heart to help a fearful dog thrive, Bougie might just be waiting for you.

Story
Gronk is a spunky boy that has the biggest heart. You can tell by his smile he is a happy boy. Gronk is friendly with people and wants nothing more than a home of his own. Gronk loves chasing the ball and will wait for you to throw it again. Unfortunately, Gronk was not able to move with his family. He lived with another female dog, Lizzo, who is also a Rosie Dog. He can`t wait to be a part of your family. and have fun things to do. Make Gronk`s dreams come true.He recently got a well-deserved break from the shelter on a Dog Day Out, and here is what they said: `We took a long nap - Gronk loved to just CRASH near me for a deep snooze. After his beauty sleep, he had fun exploring the backyard - including chasing after a squirrel! Even though he’s older, he’s still sprightly when he gets excited. He picks up things and shakes them in his mouth while he prances around. Very much a big goofball once he’s rested! One thing I noticed about him is that he “talks” a lot - which is the American bulldog in him for sure. He’s an expressive dog! And he’s got that sweet bully smile. It takes him time to adjust to new things, and he relied on me for reassurance. For example, he needed me to walk down the porch steps before he was comfortable doing so. He also needed encouragement to go explore at first, then he was off on his own no problem.`Gronk is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. Now all he needs is a home of his own!*Rosie Fund is providing Gronk`s adopter with a Rosie Life Starter Kit, which includes a collar and leash, ID tag, food, treats, toy, and KCPP $25 gift card for other enrichment items. PLUS Bigfoot Pet Photography has added a $350 photo artwork voucher! Visit rosiefund.org to see videos of Gronk and all current Rosie Dogs available for adoption. His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

Story
Holiday baking season may be over, but we`d still like to offer up Cinnamon. And while the spice is typically warm and bold, our Cinnamon is the shy and reserved variety. Cinnamon is currently living in a foster home where he has been getting glowing reports. He`s described as a long-legged happy boy who loves romping in the backyard and playing with other dogs. He`s curious about the family cat (and cat toys!) and is working through polite introductions. He loves playing fetch and tug, as well as playing chase with his foster canine sibling. He walks well on his leash, with an occasional interest in squirrels, but is also very happy to sit and enjoy a snuggle or two. Cinnamon is reported to have been housetrained in his prior home and he has lived with older children; he`d love to meet everyone in his new family before going home!Cinnamon is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If you would like to meet him, please email foster@kcpetproject.orgHis ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible.
