Story
Piper is a 8 year old and 51 pounds. She is sweet girl who can be easily befriended with soft pets and yummy treats. When she`s comfortable, she turns into a bouncy playful dog who enjoys stuffy toys! I don’t have a history with dogs. I may do well with a slow introduction to new dogs.I don’t have a history with cats. I may do well with them with a slow introduction.I don’t have a history with children but I may do well with them.If you are interested in this specific animal, please come to the shelter for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm. We recommend coming in as early as possible, as adoptions are first-come, first-served.

Story
To apply or see more of Otto, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/12/20/otto Otto, formerly Joey, was rescued from the Modesto shelter after being placed on the euthanasia list for that night simply due to overcrowding. He did nothing wrong to land himself on that list, but black dogs tend to get overlooked and adolescent large dogs are the most at-risk. Despite the odds stacked against him, this young, lively boy is so deserving of his second chance. Since coming to live with his foster fam and two furry foster siblings, he has been learning sit, down and stay so far. He’s such a fast learner! His leash skills have greatly improved and he is a joy on his daily walks. He has also been on so many new adventures! He LOVES snow shoeing and hiking with his foster family. From his fosters: He is a great outdoor dog but also an amazing snuggle bug at home. The perfect combo! He’s also fine with a good 15-30 minute walk and can chill out when he gets home. We have been working on crate training and it’s going great! He sleeps in his crate at night and when we are out of the house. Otto loves every single human he meets! He loves to jump and give hugs but we are working on that. He also loves other dogs and gets very excited to see them. With the right introduction, he would do great with a buddy to play with in his new home! He would also be great as an only dog. Otto is being fostered in SACRAMENTO, CA Estimated DOB: 9/1/2021 $250 Adoption Donation includes: Neuter, Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella, Microchip Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Story
Boxer-Mastiff mix Potato is just a soft, sensitive guy trapped in the body of a large dog. While he can be shy at first, he opens up quickly and loves affection and attention. When he wants to connect with you, he puts his paws on your lap and leans in for pets. Walks easily on a loose leash, enjoying the smells and interesting things along the way. Is a real sweetheart and deserves a loving, stable home.Treat-motivated, patient, pays attention to his person, and sits on command. Potato will be an incredible addition for someone who can provide the leadership and love that this soulful, gentle giant needs. As Kevin, one of our wonderful volunteers, says on his Nextdoor video:`Potato says - just get me outta hereâ&#194&#128¦ He has been here too long, and he thinks it is because he has been given such a silly name. He is totally up for a name change and a loving home. HE IS A GOOD DOG.` All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
*Courtesy Post**Courtesy Post - Nala is not at the shelter, if you are interested please contact her current owner at nathanmadden164@yahoo.com*  Meet Nala! Nala is a friendly and energetic 1 year old boxer mix looking for a new home where she can thrive. She’s been part of her current family since she was 10 weeks old and has been well-loved, but her owners feel she would do best in a home where she can get the one-on-one attention she deserves. She has lived as an inside dog and is used to being part of the family. She does not like being alone and has jumped her owner's fence when left by herself in the yard.  Nala gets very excited when meeting people and may jump in her enthusiasm, so she’s often crated when small children are around to prevent accidental tumbles. She’s looking for a new family who can provide her with consistent training, patience, and lots of love. With the right attention and guidance, Delta has so much potential to be a wonderful companion. If you’re interested in meeting Nala, please contact Nathan at (530) 828-1024 or email nathanmadden164@yahoo.com. Let’s help Nala find her perfect forever home! All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Oscar loves to get out of his kennel and explore the shelter yards. He is initially a strong puller on leash but settles down with some exercise. He can get over stimulated off leash and get jumpy/mouthy with his human friends. Until he is able to decompress from shelter life, it may be better to place him in a home without small children. Oscar has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. Story
I adopted Winnie from the yolo county animal shelter through a foster home a little over a year ago. Winnie was found abandoned in west sacramento and needed a lot of medical attention. She is around 6-7yrs old. She made a full physical recovery but was left with some fear and anxiety from past trauma. She is very loving, happy and obedient at home without strangers present. She does show signs of aggression when males, children or any stranger comes into our home. Winnie would do great in a quiet home with a patient owner how does not have other pets or children. Once she feels safe she is the best companion and enjoys walks at the park, car rides to the beach and snuggling. She is a really special dog and deserves a home where she feels safe and secure. I can provide more info as needed and will do anything I can to find her a loving home and make the transition as easy as possible. She has everything she needs that can accompany her. She is a sweet girl.

Story
We adopted Ruka in 2019 from Front Street shelter. She was 4 years old, had been in a few times, had a broken digit, and her owners never responded to calls for pick up. She was the first dog we saw and immediately stole our hearts. She is now 9 years old. She has always been a sweet, gentle dog with that forever-puppy spirit pits seem to exhibit. I love this dog. We even made sure she had a role in our wedding (willing greeter lol). She enjoys sun bathing, refuses to go out in the rain or cold, and is a pro at keep-away and tug-o-war She has always been great with our three cats, after slow introductions and much supervision. She is very hit and miss with other dogs, and seems to get along better with larger breeds versus smaller ones. She has a difficult time with boundaries around children.
