Story
Oh Henley! Henley came to MHCR as part of a multi-dog group that was surrendered to the shelter in Roswell, NM by a backyard breeder. They were said to be great dane/pit mixes. Sweet Henley never broke 50 lbs – it seems the only thing dane about her is possibly her merle coat. Henley was an extremely shut down pup. She didn’t see much (if any) human kindness in her early days. She gets her confidence and comfort from the canine companions around her. Since entering foster care, Henley has had so much growth. She happily takes car rides now (and gets super excited to go). She also walks well on a leash. She can be found wrestling with her foster siblings or snoozing on the couch after a play session. Henley is crate trained (loves her kennel) and doggie door trained. She’s a one-woman type o’ gal and is looking for a human that also has a slight aversion to other human beings and visitors. When she settles in, she will provide lots of love and comfort, but she finds it difficult to settle into multi-human homes. Multi dog homes? Not an issue! That’s her jam! Henley is 1.5 years old. Henley is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/henley/. Story
Chunk is here to remind us all how important it is to not judge a book by its cover. This boy was picked up as a stray and almost euthanized for space at a high kill shelter in Houston. Luckily, a foster family was willing to look past his ‘cover’ and Black Dog Syndrome, and they noticed him in the nick of time. Chunk is a compact bully/bulldog mix at about 45 pounds and is about 3-4 years old. Chunk is missing most of his right ear and has several scars, mostly on top of his head. Chunk is a healthy boy that hears well and is not in pain. He’s unaware of any differences he has on the surface, is happy to be alive, and has been friendly to every human he has come across in rescue. He is a little bit too fixated in wanting to chase kitties, and so we think a feline free home would be best. He seems crate trained and housetrained, and adjusts quickly to the routine of a family. Chunk is the life of the party, the klutz, the bull in the China shop, the clunker, and the class clown. He’s ready to make you laugh and provide endless entertainment. He’s not the brightest bulb in the box but always gets an A+ for effort. He wants to be your shadow, your ‘lap dog’, and love you unconditionally. Please give this boy a chance at his forever. He’s ready to raise awareness, bring some smiles and love to those he meets, and find his place in the world. Chunk is seeking a family of homebodies and he’d like to be the only dog in the home – yet he’d welcome a home where his buddy, Haven, could tag along with him. Chunk is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chunk You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Meet Flash! We aren’t quite sure how he earned his name. It could be his flashy brindle coat. It could be his fast as flash speed. Maybe he showed his bum to someone he shouldn’t have — we may never know. What we do know is this handsome young man is an all around great dog. Flash loves kids, plays well with most other dogs, seems house and crate trained, rides well in the car, loves water…..the list goes on and on. At 3 years old, he’s past the puppy antics and is the perfect, enjoyable age. Flash is 59 lbs. He’s a social and friendly guy and he’d love a family of his own. Flash is in foster in Centennial, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/flash You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Happy Go-Lucky and Care-Free!! Dreamer is guessed to be a 2 yr old Pitbull, around 70 lbs. He is a hopeless optimist that's fun loving and bursting with energy. Although gentle and sweet as can be, his explosive energy can be overwhelming at first, but over time he settles in and there's no better play buddy. Dreamer needs an owner that is confident in themselves and patient with boundaries. His energy is not well suited for small children or the elderly, since he is very strong. He is great with other dogs and would love to have a playmate or at least someone that can help him burn some of his energy. Dreamer is good in a kennel, doesn't bark or dig. He does love to rip his stuffies up and chew on a good bone. I met a kitty and did very well (check out my video). I could potentially go to a home with a cat, with proper introductions and training! Did I mention that his coat and coloring is to die for? This boy has vitiligo, which shouldn’t continue to spread as he ages but those sweet spots are here to stay! Dreaming of that good 'ole boy? Dreamer is that guy! He is waiting in Wellington.

Story
Conan is a 3 yr old Pitbull mix, who loves his people. Because of his disability (with a bum front leg- birth defect), he is limited on activities, but he still lives a full life?! He loves to explore the yard and lay in the sun. He loves car rides, is house trained, loves playing with people and is good with kids. Conan does ok with the other dogs in his foster home, but would be best as an only dog in his future home (since he wants his people's attention all to himself). Conan has his funny moments were he does zoomies. Poor guy has been waiting for a forever home for 521 DAYS?! Please apply to meet this sweet and special boy. He is waiting in Aurora and available through Big Bones Rescue.
