Story
Oh Henley! Henley came to MHCR as part of a multi-dog group that was surrendered to the shelter in Roswell, NM by a backyard breeder. They were said to be great dane/pit mixes. Sweet Henley never broke 50 lbs – it seems the only thing dane about her is possibly her merle coat. Henley was an extremely shut down pup. She didn’t see much (if any) human kindness in her early days. She gets her confidence and comfort from the canine companions around her. Since entering foster care, Henley has had so much growth. She happily takes car rides now (and gets super excited to go). She also walks well on a leash. She can be found wrestling with her foster siblings or snoozing on the couch after a play session. Henley is crate trained (loves her kennel) and doggie door trained. She’s a one-woman type o’ gal and is looking for a human that also has a slight aversion to other human beings and visitors. When she settles in, she will provide lots of love and comfort, but she finds it difficult to settle into multi-human homes. Multi dog homes? Not an issue! That’s her jam! Henley is 1.5 years old. Henley is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/henley/. Story
"Hi, my name is November and I am a part of the 7 Months of Christmas litter! I am boy and just turned 8 weeks on December 14th! My foster mama jokes about how chubby and rolly polly I am…cause I am the biggest pup in my litter! I am independent, confident, and HUNGRY–boy do I love my kibble! I am a fasting growing dude and will probably be a bit bigger than my mama, September, who is 45lbs. I am a super smart boy since I already use a dog door and have been working very hard on my crate training and house breaking. If you let me out frequent enough, I do not mess in my pen! I have been extremely well socialized with both the little kiddos in my foster home and adults! My foster dog siblings are so much fun to play with too! And as for my breed? Well, my mama is a red headed shepherd/pittie mix…maybe? It is all a guessing game really. But I do have medium/fuzzy type fur. My foster mom says we are perfect Heinz 57 dogs! I am looking for the perfect home for Christmas (and Christmas dinner)….can I join you at the table forever?" Story
Chunk is here to remind us all how important it is to not judge a book by its cover. This boy was picked up as a stray and almost euthanized for space at a high kill shelter in Houston. Luckily, a foster family was willing to look past his ‘cover’ and Black Dog Syndrome, and they noticed him in the nick of time. Chunk is a compact bully/bulldog mix at about 45 pounds and is about 3-4 years old. Chunk is missing most of his right ear and has several scars, mostly on top of his head. Chunk is a healthy boy that hears well and is not in pain. He’s unaware of any differences he has on the surface, is happy to be alive, and has been friendly to every human he has come across in rescue. He is a little bit too fixated in wanting to chase kitties, and so we think a feline free home would be best. He seems crate trained and housetrained, and adjusts quickly to the routine of a family. Chunk is the life of the party, the klutz, the bull in the China shop, the clunker, and the class clown. He’s ready to make you laugh and provide endless entertainment. He’s not the brightest bulb in the box but always gets an A+ for effort. He wants to be your shadow, your ‘lap dog’, and love you unconditionally. Please give this boy a chance at his forever. He’s ready to raise awareness, bring some smiles and love to those he meets, and find his place in the world. Chunk is seeking a family of homebodies and he’d like to be the only dog in the home – yet he’d welcome a home where his buddy, Haven, could tag along with him. Chunk is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chunk You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
"Hi, I am April, part of the 7 Months of Christmas litter! I am a super spunky little girl with the coolest patch over my eye! I turned 8 weeks old on December 14th. April is my month and I hear that is when flowers and plants start blooming. That sounds like so fun much to investigate–cause exploring and investigating anything new is my jam! I really love pepole and go running to anyone who comes to see us! I already use a dog door and follow my mama outside to do my business. Yes, you heard that right. I already use a dog door and have been working very hard on my crate training and house breaking. If you let me out frequent enough, I do not mess in my pen! I love exploring and playing with my siblings, my mama September, and the other dogs that live in my foster home. I have spent my developing weeks being socialized with kiddos and adults in my foster family. I just love everyone! My mama is just 45lbs, so I will probably be around a 50lb medium sized dog. And as for my breed? Well, my mama is a red headed shepherd/pittie mix…maybe? I defintely have some pittie traits in my face! It is all a guessing game really though. My foster mom says we are perfect Heinz 57 dogs! I am looking for the perfect home for Christmas. Will that be yours?" Story
"Hi, I my name is May and I am a part of the 7 Months of Christmas litter! My foster mom says she doesn’t play favorites, but I have overheard her say I am her favorite out of my brothers and sisters. I mean, I can understand that since I am the ALWAYS the first puppy to come running to greet her or anyonewith my super wiggly butt and tail moving at wrap speed. I then give her million kisses when she picks me up. I look just like my mama, September, with her big, flopped ears and her ginger coat. I don’t want to sound vain, but gosh, we are just such pretty dogs! 😉 I am her mini-me! Did I mention that I already use a dog door and have been working very hard on my crate training and house breaking. If you let me out frequent enough, I do not mess in my pen! I have been extremely well socialized with both the little kiddos in my foster home (whom I just adore) and adults! My foster dog siblings are so much fun to play with too! My mama is just 45lbs, so I will probably be around a 45-50lb medium sized dog. And as for my breed? Well, my mama is a red headed shepherd/pittie mix…maybe? It is all a guessing game really.
