Story
Arya came from an unexpected litter we had three years ago. She was the tiniest of the bunch and almost didn't make it, even needing to be revived, but she's a survivor! She's truly a wonderful dog, and I honestly wish I could keep her. Arya is incredibly loyal and loves to be by your side, soaking up all the pets and attention you can give. She's also quite well-trained: she knows how to sit and doesn't pull on the leash, and is completely house-trained. Arya would thrive in a home where she can get daily walks and plenty of affection. While she loves living with us and her parents, we simply don't have enough room for all three dogs. My biggest wish is to see her go to a loving family who will cherish her.

Story
Ruby is the kind of girl who will spot a squirrel before you do, match your energy for playtime, and melt into you for cuddles when the day is done. She is 2 years old, very playful, and great with other dogs. I rescued/fostered her from an elderly family friend. Ruby would be great in a home with another playful dog. She is learning the basics quickly and is currently house trained, crate trained, and great with cats. She is all up to date on her shots and ready for her forever home!

Story
Oh Henley! Henley came to MHCR as part of a multi-dog group that was surrendered to the shelter in Roswell, NM by a backyard breeder. They were said to be great dane/pit mixes. Sweet Henley never broke 50 lbs – it seems the only thing dane about her is possibly her merle coat. Henley was an extremely shut down pup. She didn’t see much (if any) human kindness in her early days. She gets her confidence and comfort from the canine companions around her. Since entering foster care, Henley has had so much growth. She happily takes car rides now (and gets super excited to go). She also walks well on a leash. She can be found wrestling with her foster siblings or snoozing on the couch after a play session. Henley is crate trained (loves her kennel) and doggie door trained. She’s a one-woman type o’ gal and is looking for a human that also has a slight aversion to other human beings and visitors. When she settles in, she will provide lots of love and comfort, but she finds it difficult to settle into multi-human homes. Multi dog homes? Not an issue! That’s her jam! Henley is 1.5 years old. Henley is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/henley/. Story
"Chunk is here to remind us all how important it is to not judge a book by its cover. This boy was picked up as a stray and almost euthanized for space at a high kill shelter in Houston. Luckily, a foster family was willing to look past his ‘cover’ and Black Dog Syndrome, and they noticed him in the nick of time. Chunk is a compact bully/bulldog mix at about 45 pounds and is about 3-4 years old. Chunk is missing most of his right ear and has several scars, mostly on top of his head. They do not match typical dog inflicted scars, and Chunk has been very friendly with various dogs in Texas and in foster care (especially the female variety…he’s a ladies man 😂). Sadly, though we will never know for sure, we believe his scars are the result of either human cruelty or an unusual accident. Luckily, Chunk is a healthy boy that hears well and is not in pain. He’s unaware of any differences he has on the surface, is happy to be alive, and has been friendly to every human he has come across in rescue. He is a little bit too fixated in wanting to chase kitties, and so we think a feline free home would be best. He seems crate trained and housetrained, and adjusts quickly to the routine of a family. Chunk is the life of the party, the klutz, the bull in the China shop, the clunker, and the class clown. He’s ready to make you laugh and provide endless entertainment. He’s not the brightest bulb in the box but always gets an A+ for effort. He wants to be your shadow, your ‘lap dog’, and love you unconditionally. Please give this boy a chance at his forever. He’s ready to raise awareness, bring some smiles and love to those he meets, and find his place in the world." Chunk is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chunk/. Story
"Ok y’all. We know the pitbull types can be harder to find adopters for due to the stereotypes. Black Dog Syndrome in the rescue world just makes that even harder for dogs like Haven, but this sweet, stunning girl deserves a forever family instead of being euthanized! Haven came into a high kill shelter in Houston after being found as a stray/dumped at a Chevron gas station. Her future was bleak. Luckily, she’s easy on the eyes and one of our pittie loving foster homes quickly stepped up for her. Haven is a healthy girl who is around 2 years old and about 55 pounds. She is adapting wonderfully to the routine of a foster home and is great with kids. She is food motivated, smart, attentive, and very eager to please. She walks well on a leash and has a mild-moderate energy level. Haven can be a bit picky/selective about her dog friends in play groups, does best with slow careful introductions, and seems to do better with male dogs. She would also be completely in love with the idea of being someone’s only dog/princess. Please give Haven a chance. She’s ready to snuggle you and be your best friend! Haven requires a feline free home." Story
Meet Dillon (aka Dilly)! 🐾 This handsome, snow-white cutie is as sweet as they come. Dilly has a gentle, soulful presence. He can be a little timid at first, but once he feels safe, his playful, goofy personality quickly shines through. He loves to play chase and wrestle with his foster siblings, and he’s always up for a good romp in the yard followed by some snuggles. Dilly is doing quite well with his potty training—just needs a few reminders here and there. He already knows sit and stay, and he’s picking up leash walking like a champ. He’s still teething, so he’s working on being gentle with play biting. This little guy is smart, sensitive, and oh-so-lovable. He’s the kind of pup who wants to be near his people, learn new things, and be part of the action (or nap pile). Dilly will do best in a home with another playful canine to help build confidence and keep up with his energy. Dilly is going to make the perfect adventure buddy and best friend for a lucky family. 💙 Dillon is being fostered in Castle Rock, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/dillon/.
