Story
Moss an approximately 4-year-old male pitbull who was surrendered to PAWS as his owner, who took him in temporarily, is moving to a new apartment that does not allow dogs. In spite of Moss being shuffled around a lot during his young life, he is a sweet and trusting boy. He loves playing with children and adults alike, and we are told he is good with other dogs. He is such a patient and gentle soul. His favorite toys are his mini tire and anything he can play tug of war with! Moss is up to date on his vaccinations and will be adopted out with a voucher for his neuter.

Story
ATTENTION SPECIAL NEEDS DOG LOVERS! ❤️ 🐾❤️🐾 BRUIN 🐾❤️🐾 AKA “Bru-ski,” “Stitch,” “Bru-Bru” Bruin came into our rescue when he was listed as “free” on Craigslist. We knew we had to make sure he did not fall into the wrong hands! Bruin has been blind since birth. One eye needed to be removed due to extreme glaucoma. He’s making a full recovery from his surgery, and thriving in his foster home! 🐾 Age 2. 🐾 Weight 40 lbs. 🐾 Bruin seems very eager to play with his foster dog siblings, (small dogs), but due to his size as well as his post-surgery recovery, he is limited with his ability to play and has not been fully introduced yet. We believe that Bruin will most likely get along with other dogs with proper introductions. 🐾 Older children only due to the fact that he is vision impaired. 🐾 Cat friendly! 🐾 Housetrained. 🐾 Crate-trained 🐾 Bruin needs to be on medication (eye drops three times a day) for the remaining eye for the rest of his life. A low cost routine Med. 🐾 Bruin loves to run off leash in his fenced in yard. He has learned to navigate the yard in an amazing way, with no halo needed. (See video). He doesn’t run, he prances! ❤️ 🐾 Knows some basic commands. 🐾 Neutered, Microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Bruin is being fostered in Milford, CT. This is what Bruin’s foster mom has to say about him: Bruin is much like a sighted dog in many ways. He wants to play, enjoys his toys, loves his couch time, loves his family, his cheese chews, and loves being outside. When dealing with Bruin, one must put themselves in his shoes, imagining what life is like for him not being able to see. Bruin’s new owner will have to rely on verbal commands and other means to communicate with him. Bruin is very fearful of unfamiliar sounds, people, and environments. He will sometimes react out of fear, and therefore needs a very patient and understanding owner who is willing to work with him to help him overcome these fears. Once he is confident in his space, he’s just another dog. He will curl up on the couch with you and he likes to know that someone is nearby. He’s most content with a hand on him as he rests. He relaxes immediately with a belly rub and actually falls asleep that way. Bruins ideal home will be someone who has a great deal of patience and understanding for the needs of a blind dog. Someone who will be home with him a lot would be ideal. A large, securely fenced in yard is preferable for him to enjoy the freedom of running. We would love to find Bruin a home with another companion dog.

Story
Digger is a petite, 4 yr old female pit mix that came to us from TX. We think she could have some Jack Russell in her too! Originally found roaming in southern Texas , this girl lived in an outside kennel for several months in southern TX.  She is so happy to now be in a foster home. She is housebroken and happy to hang out on a dog bed while her foster parents work.  She loves squeaky toys and napping. She needs to be the only pet in the home. Let's make this game a win-win for everyone involved!   THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN ADOPTING ONE OF OUR AMAZING RESCUE DOGS - WE CAN’T WAIT TO HELP YOU FIND YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND! The first step in getting started with our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application on our website at www.adopt-a-dog.org. We welcome you to come visit our shelter! Meet & greets will be set up by appointment once your application has been received & processed. If a dog is still listed on Petfinder, we are still accepting applications for them!   *Adoption fee: Young Adult (1-4 years): $475 *Health: Up to date on age-appropriate core vaccines so far (adopter will be responsible for remaining vaccinations if applicable), spayed/neutered , microchipped, dewormed *If the dog you are adopting is not yet spayed/neutered at the time of adoption, we require a $150 deposit in addition to the adoption fee (to be refunded upon proof of surgery within 6 months of adoption)     ** Please note that we are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the dog’s physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is often limited. We encourage you to consider individual personality rather than relying on a label – meeting a dog in person is the best way to make sure it’s love!   FAQs: WHAT IS THE ADOPTION PROCESS?: The first step in adopting an AAD dog is to fill out an application via our website www.adoptadog.org. Once we receive your application, one of our application processors will contact you, and answer any questions you may have. We will also ask for additional information if needed (landlord or veterinarian contact information, or other based on your application). Once an application has been approved, we will schedule a mutually convenient time for a meet & greet! We do not operate on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the dog.   HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO ADOPT?:  You must be age 25 or older to apply to adopt. If you live in a home with other people (ie parents, relatives) the person who will be financially responsible for the care of the dog should be the one to fill out the application.   HOW CAN I MEET THE ADOPTABLE DOGS?: Meet and greets will be scheduled once your adoption application has been fully processed by one of our adoption processors. Please be sure to fill out the application as thoroughly as possible, as we want to make sure we find you the perfect match!   *If you have any additional questions that have not been answered, please e-mail info@adoptadog.org! ##1367805##
