Story
Precious is a 2.5 year old blue-nose pitbull. She is energetic and loves to run and play. She is intelligent and very receptive to training. She knows a few commands such as sit, laydown, and will sit and wait for the ok to eat and will leave it for treats and toys. She is crate trained and mostly housebroken. She is funny and loves attention. When first being introduced it will take time for her to get used to you, she needs to be ignored and let her come to you. I will waive the adoption fee if things go well!

Story
My boyfriend and I rescued cash a few months ago from a free pet page on Facebook. The previous owner showed us tons of videos will all young kids from newborn to 10 so he’s great with kids I also have a newborn of my own and he’s good around her. He’s been around other dogs and hasn’t shown any aggression same with cats. His birthday is June 28th he just turned four years old. He’s an xl bully and pitbull mix so he’s a big boy weighing around 130 pounds. The reason I need to rehome is my boyfriend works a lot and with a newborn and his size I cannot take him out for walks so he isn’t getting the attention he needs nor deserves. For the most part he is good while walking but the occasional squirrel will make him run. A lot of his issues I feel are because we cannot give him the attention or exercise he needs so he does sometimes go to the bathroom in the house. He also has a huge food issue. He will eat anything in sight. This boy is a love bug at heart just needs some training & love

Story
Govida came to TJO as a very nervous stray, but once she settled in and became more comfortable, she proved just how much energy she had! She can still be nervous when meeting new people, but given time she can warm up quick. She loves to jump, and can reach some pretty impressive heights, so a tall fence is a must for anyone looking to meet her! OTHER PETS:Godiva is reactive with other dogs--lunging and snapping while trying to get closer to other dogs that she sees--and would do best as an only pet. NO CATS [Should Be Only Pet]OWNER EXPERIENCE:Godiva would do best with someone who has experience handling large and reactive dogs with positive reinforcement, as she does pull strongly on the leash and can get overexcited. [Experienced]KIDS: Because Godiva is a strong dog that doesn't quite understand boundaries yet, she would do best in a home without any kids. She's jumpy and can get overexcited easily, and she's uncomfortable with some types of handling, so an adult with experience and confidence in handling would be best for her. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Godiva is a lot of dog with a lot of energy. In a home environment, she would do best with daily walks and various forms of mental enrichment to keep her mind and body busy. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE:[Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:While Godiva does seem to know `sit` and `paw,` she is still at the beginning of her positive training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Godiva not only learn her basic cues but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner as well! [Intense]GROOMING:[Minimal]October 1, 2024, 4:19 pm

Story
**IN FOSTER**OTHER PETS: Sadie is eager to meet other dogs and is relaxed while she is around them, she would likely get along with other dogs of a similar temperament and size - to ensure a good match Sadie should meet any dogs she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] NO SMALL DOGS OR CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE: Sadie will need support from her new owner as she settles in, she typically is not overstimulated but does become so at times, and someone who has not dealt with an overstimulated dog could be overwhelmed by the difference in behavior. Someone who will be a calm anchor to help Sadie recenter herself with while overstimulated would be her best fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Sadie is a friendly girl who also tends to jump and get mouthy when excited. High pitched noises, flailing hands, and sudden movements can easily excite dogs or elevate already excited dogs even higher - a teen who has experience with dogs or a teen able to understand why such actions need to be avoided around Sadie would be her best fit. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Sadie pulls a little but typically does well on leash and enjoys her walks, ensuring she gets a chance to explore her neighborhood daily would be a perfect way to make sure Sadie gets the physical and mental stimulation she needs. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Sadie bond with her new owner as well as ensuring she knows her basic cues. Sadie is a sweet girl who sometimes becomes overstimulated and snappy in the kennel, it is important to remember that redirection to a positive behavior and reward for said positive behavior will be key to helping Sadie handle overstimulation - but her new owner will also be responsible for learning what leads to overstimulation as well as finding creative ways to eliminate/avoid the causes. MARLEY

Pit Bull Terrier

Story
Marley came to TJO quite itchy and nervous, but opened up quickly to staff and soon enjoyed all the butt scratches she could handle. While Marley spent most of her life with another companion dog, her bestie recently kicked the crap out of cancer but did not survive the battle herself. OTHER PETS: Marley was not interested in meeting other dogs, lacks social skills, and gets grumpy with other dogs; Marley would do best as an only dog. [Should Be Only Pet] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Marley is going to need time, compassion, and understanding while she settles in - it may take longer than usual for her to begin to settle in and open up. Someone with experience would be able to support Marley with a minimal learning curve. [Some Experience] KIDS: Marley can be intense with her food and takes time to warm up to people; she needs to live with humans who will not mess with her food bowls and understand she may take time to become affectionate with them - Marley is nervous around strangers and will growl at them. [15+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Marley walks well on a leash and enjoys spending time outside, she enjoys fetch and other toy involved play with humans and does not get overly excited. Marley would do best with daily walks and some quality playtime. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Marley arrived with some very itchy, scabby, skin. She has been recieving vet care and medicated baths during her stay and her skin condition has improved but she still has a bit to go to get back to 100%. It is possible that with continued medication, baths, and a safe home environment her skin condition will resolve completely and will not reoccur. It is also possible however, that this is a chronic condition that will need some form of management for the remainder of Marley's life. A good relationship with a vet will ensure that Marley ages gracefully. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Marley bond with her new owner as well as ensuring she has a mastery of her basic cues and skills. Story
Duke is ready to start his next adventure now that he has had a chance to get some good rest and good food. He is searching for someone who is down to help him learn the fun parts of `how to dog` like playing because he had to focus on the whole `surviving in the wild` part before he came to TJO. While he is definitely a survivor, Duke is looking forward to less intense adventures, with guaranteed dinner breaks.OTHER PETS: Duke was interested in other dogs but seemed unsure around male dogs of various sizes and was bossy with a female dog (we are unsure if such behavior will cease post-neuter.) Duke would do best with a confident, tolerant dog who will give him appropriate feedback (which he listens to). [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] KIDS: Duke is interested in toys but unsure how to play with them, he really enjoys getting attention from people and is comfortable with most handling. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Duke would enjoy a longer daily walk to give him the opportunity to exercise his muscles and his nose. Just because Duke doesn't exactly get `play` now, doesn't mean that he cannot learn from another dog or figure it out with help from his owner - maybe you will both discover a new favorite activity! [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Duke is interested in people and values their attention, positive reinforcement training will help Duke bond with his new owner while ensuring he learns basic cues and skills. Story
Monaco is a young dog with a pushy personality. He's young, and although he knows `sit`, he still has a long journey ahead in regards to positive training. He has a habit of biting the leash when coming out of his kennel, and can be mouthy and jumpy when excited. He would likely do best with someone who's active and can give him the energy outlet that he needs.OTHER PETS: Monaco is dog selective and will escalate reactions from other dogs. He doesn't understand feedback from other dogs and can be very intense when interacting. With the wrong dog, Monaco's pushiness could easily lead to a fight, so he would likely do best as the only dog in the home. [Should Be Only Pet] NO CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE: Monaco can be a lot to handle when he hasn't gotten sufficient exercise, so someone with an active lifestyle who knows how to handle energetic dogs would be ideal. [Some Experience]KIDS: Monaco can be very mouthy and jumpy when he's worked up, so he would do better around kids who are old enough to understand how to interact with him and won't be knocked over easily. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: He might not be the biggest dog around, but Monaco has a significant amount of energy to expel! While he does calm down a bit once he's out of the kennel, he still loves to run and chase toys around for as long as possible. And while daily walks will be important for him, he's also the kind of dog who will need various forms of mental enrichment and games -- to make sure both his body and brain are relaxed at the end of the day. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Monaco is still at the beginning of his training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while he adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Monaco not only learn his basic cues & skills, but also help him to bond with his new owner. [Moderate]GROOMING: [Minimal]October 1, 2024, 4:19 pm

Story
Carl is outgoing with humans and a little reserved with other dogs; once he is sure they want to be friends he just wants to play. This sweetheart is looking for a home that will support and encourage him while he learns about all the good things that life has for doggos.OTHER PETS: Carl sometimes takes a moment to decide if a dog he has just met is friend shaped, but once he sees a friend he enjoys playing with them. As with all our adoptable dogs, Carl should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone with experience with dogs that exhibit resource guarding would be best suited for Carl, trading up and buiding confidence around prized items. He currently exhibits intensity around food and with experienced support his owner would be able to help him from escalating his intensity to actual guarding. [Some Experience] KIDS: Carl is a strong dog who may be difficult for younger humans to walk, is uncomfortable with some handling, can be intense with food and is jumpy/mouthy when excited. While Carl settles well, his best fit would be in a household without younger children. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Longer daily walks and/or multiple walks and playtimes (supervised if outside) would be the perfect amount of activity for Carl. He is a younger dog who enjoys zoomies from time to time and is *learning* to be the best leash walker ever (he sometimes still bites the leash for example,) and with appropriate positive training he could participate in dog sports or be an wonderful adventure buddy. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Carl bond with his new owner as well as ensuring he learns basic cues and skills. Further positive training would allow for Carl's participation in dog sports or adventures with his human. [Minimal]GROOMING: [Minimal]October 1, 2024, 4:19 pm
