**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Lucy. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound, along with another dog, and we are now looking for loving new families to join. I am a bit on the shy side until I warm up to you and get to know you, but once I am used to you, I am very sweet and affectionate. I have been a house dog my entire life. I am pretty good with my potty habits here at the pound, but I was living alone in a home for the most part for the past month, so I may need some refreshers on potty habits. I lived with 4 other dogs in my previous home. The other dog that was surrendered with me and myself both have a lot of scars from being in scuffles. I have been good around other dogs here at the shelter, but should have a meet and greet with any other dogs I would live with in my new home to make sure we get along okay. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. I was found as a stray in the Lisbon area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet girl. I love people and I am very affectionate. I love getting attention and affection and could stay by you for hours getting scratches and rubbies. I do know how to sit for treats, but otherwise seem to have very little manners or training. It also appears that I was kept as an outdoor dog and I will likely need work with housebreaking and training. I have been good around the other dogs that I've met here at the pound so far. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Paulo. I'm about 8 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Columbiana area and I was picked up by the pound. When I was getting my vetting all done, my 4dx snap test popped positive for heartworm. Usually, that is an awful thing to have happen, but when I went in to the vet and had the bloodwork sent out for the heartworm panel, it came back negative and there were no microfilaria seen, so that means that the 4dx test just produced a false positive which is extremely rare, and in my case, the best rarity. As you can see in my photos, I am an extremely handsome boy. What is a little harder to see, is that my left eye is a gorgeous blue, which only adds to my absolute charm. I am a very sweet fellow. I love to get attention and affection. Once I get to know you, I am quite a snuggly boy and I like to give kisses. I have been good with the other dogs that I've met here at the pound. I know I'm an older boy and I may not have a lot of years left to give you, but I will give you unconditional love for the rest of my remaining time. Please consider adopting me. Story
Got Lucy at 3 months old. Had her for 4 months. She came from a somewhat of a breeder. She is almost 7 months now. Still potty training, she’s doing well in that area. Teething. Learning commands. Training with a trainer. Beautiful, smart, very scared of people and dogs. Don’t know if the parents had any genetic issues. Not to be trusted with young children. Looking for a person with trading experience to re home.

Story
Hello, my name is Diesel! I am a happy go lucky kind of guy. I have live with another dog before, but a meet and greet would be required for any new potential fur sibling. I love toys and will show you anytime I pick out a new one. I love to cuddle and put my tush near you for some good butt scratchies. I love to give kisses and I take treats very politely. Please come meet me today!*** I am currently in a foster home. Please call to schedule an appointment to meet me***Heres what the staff have to say about me:`Diesel is a wonderful dog. He is one of our best office mascots! He makes himself right at home and takes his job seriously when it comes to greeting visitors; he goes up to every person, wags his tail, snuggles in, and makes sure they feel special. When we hold staff meetings in the office and he is hanging out, Diesel cracks us up by slowly meandering to every person to say hello, over and over, as if he doesn`t want anyone to feel left out; he makes sure that you feel seen, acknowledged, and that you feel a little ray of his love. He is incredibly affectionate and adores being with someone. He loves to carry around toys and show you which one he has. I don`t know how many times a day I hear staff say, `Diesel! Why has no one adopted you yet?` He truly is the best boy.` If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2023 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $7.00. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$5.00)Leash and collar included

Story
Hello! My name is Skye! I am a beautiful girl looking for a forever home. I am spunky and sweet, and full of energy. I love going on walks and exploring the world, and I`m learning how to walk nicely at the shelter. My ideal home would be teens and up, no other animals, and someone who understands the importance of a really tasty treat. I like to play with toys and snuggle my favorite people. I like to watch TV and lounge on the couch, so pick out your favorite movie and then pick up your favorite dog....me!What the staff say about me:`Skye is one wiggly, piggly girl. She lights up when she sees her favorite person. She is so snuggly and very affectionate, she really makes you feel loved. She likes to show off her toys or play fetch. She is going to be someone`s best friend for sure!`If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings.
