Story
Rip is a total sweetheart. It's not fair of us to keep him cause we are unable to care for him the way he deserves. He's always in his crate, because we're not home or poor behavior. He's a 1 year old Pit my daughter found on the side of a busy road when he was about 6 weeks old. He's still in his chewing phase and, if left unwatched, will chew on the furniture. He knows your basic commands, but does not listen when he's worked up and/or excited. He's potty trained and usually goes to the front door when he needs to go out, but will sometimes go in the house or the crate. He loves toys, though if it's soft it'll likely lose all it's stuffing quickly. If you go near his mouth when he has something he really doesn't want to part with, he has bitten a once or twice. It left little couple marks on my arm. I have a small female dog and a cat. Rip plays rough and is scared of dogs his size or bigger when loose. He comes with his crate and everything. We'd like to be able to visit

Story
Paris is an 8 month old with a spunky attitude. Paris has been in a foster home with 4 other dogs, cats and kids. She loves to wrestle and play with other dogs. She doesn't bother the cats but would need continued positive reinforcement training as she grows older with cats in any home. Paris loves to swim in her baby pool. Paris is crate-trained, housebroken, walks amazingly on the leash. Paris has been all over Shadyside meeting all sorts of new people and just enjoying life. Her favorite hobby is to play soccer with her foster mom. Paris loves meeting new dogs on leash and making friends with all the people along the trail too! Paris does have Mircoopthalmia that she was born with. That means her eye did not fully develop in utero but she has been seen by the vet and cleared, it would just be something to monitor as she ages and she may need eye drops for dry eye on the third eyelid.Hi and thank you for your interest in adopting from The Foster Farm! Please note that all applicants MUST live within the state of Pennsylvania -- no exceptions will be made.In order to help us process your application, please include as much detail and information as possible. Our adoption process is not first come first serve – we work extremely hard to meet the needs of every pet individually, and we do not base our matches on appearances (color, coat length, etc.). If you’re inquiring about our adoption process, please visit thefosterfarm.org/adopt for information, policies, and procedures. If you have submitted an application at thefosterfarm.org/adopt and received the confirmation email from Cognito Forms (your receipt will appear as a copy of the application you submitted), we are reviewing your application. If you are approved to adopt, you will receive an email approval within one week! Because our organization is run entirely by four volunteers each with full-time jobs, families, personal pets, and foster animals, we are only able to reach out to approved applicants. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!Stay healthy and safe! The Foster Farm Team

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ Yogi, 6 years old, neutered male, mastiff and pit bull mix, 63 pounds. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport to an approved adopter. Please note, he is physically located in the State of Texas. We want to start with Yogi's ~VERY minimal~ health maintenance. We had him meet with a specialist regarding his eye. He has "dry eye" in his right eye, which requires daily eye drops. There is a possibility this will resolve in time, but we anticipate him needing these drops for his lifetime. It does not deter him from daily life in any way. We would be happy to chat more with an applicant. Yogi was originally named "Porcel" by the shelter but once our foster recognized his "yo yo" nature, we quickly came to the realization that Yogi was a much better fit. Yogi is extremely dog friendly - big, small, old or young, he gets along with them all. He has consistently worked on his manners during doggy daycare and in various temporary foster care. He is extremely deferential, play bowing and chasing practically anything that you toss. He does best with another dog who likes to engage in playful activity. He is curious about other dogs when on leash but does not bark or pull towards them. Yogi has met kids around 8 years and older. He is generally uninterested in new people (kids included) unless they want to play with him. This looks like playing catch, throwing or kicking a ball etc. We will note he is very intent when there is a ball involved so would recommend a home with kids who can be mindful of his focus when a ball is involved but want to be clear: he is never - ever - overbearing or forceful when a ball is within view. He loves pets from strangers, men, women and children, but is fixated when a ball is around. Generally we recommend homes with kids over 10yr or those who can and will understand animal behavior cues. Even given his exuberance to play, Yogi gives the impression he can be safely around young children without incident. We have no history with cats. He has stayed with a temp foster who has an outside cat, and shown no reaction although we would definitely recommend slow - if necessary - interactions. Yogi walks really well on leash. He has a loose leash, walks in a straight line and does not pull. He is fully housebroken. He does well when crated and prefers to have his chew toys crated with him. He is generally quiet when crated. As mentioned, Yogi LOVES his balls and toys, etc. We have found he may resource guard those items around other dogs but he is in no way aggressive, just possessive and protective. He is responsive when redirected but it is important to note if other dogs in the home. That said, because of the high value the toy provides, Yogi is easy to train without "wasting" calories. Yogi is an energetic dog and is looking for a moderately active home - he does not need long walks at all, he will be fully satiated with the time spent playing fetch as long as you wish to throw the ball. He does fully enjoy his daily walks so if this is your preferred exercise, he is more than happy to oblige. Yogi is goofy, curious and loveable, and makes friends with anyone he encounters. He enjoys water and mud, and always has some kind of a silly look on his face. *Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Lunesta, 6 years old, spayed female, pit bull mix, 55lbs. Lunesta is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Lulu is a sweet, medium energy kind of gal who loves to play. She is in a foster home with a resident pit bull and a shih tzu, and tries engaging them in play. She would love to have a home with a canine companion to play with her. The resident shih tzu will get barky and nippy at Lulu, and she walks away, ignoring him entirely. Lulu doesn't have much body awareness and will body check the other dogs when playing or when treats come out. She pushes and shoves to the front of the line for a treat, to get the toy or to be the first one out the door. She can also be quite clumsy, sometimes running into the doors or walls because she is so focused on looking back at you. Lulu loves to play but also loves to snuggle up and rest with you, or on her own in the crate or on the couch. She is a sweet cuddle bear and enjoys following you around the house ensuring you are never alone nor under attack from an unseen foe. Going to the kitchen? Lulu's coming too. Need to use the restroom? Good idea, she should join you. Headed outside for some vitamin D? Perfect, that is just what she wanted to do also! Not even joking, Lulu really does love the sun and baking as long as you will let her. Lulu is a toy hoarder. She will sneak and steal the toys from her siblings but is not aggressive of them. As a general rule of the foster, all dogs are fed separately to ensure they eat their own meals but not because anyone resource guards their food. We have no history with cats but when walking her and she sees one, she wants to charge at it. She has been around children ages 10 and up without issue, and we have no reason to think she couldn't be around very young kids as she's not super jumpy or energetic. Typically recommend a home with kids over the age of 10 years, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. Lulu does need to work on her leash manners as she is all over the place and pulls with the typical pittie energy. A harness or Gentle Leader head collar may yield the best results but Lulu's foster has been working patiently with her on this training. Lulu is nearly fully housetrained but will "go" if it has been too long between her potty breaks. She does not have any accidents overnight in her kennel. Lunesta is crate trained and does very well, sleeping and taking her meals in the kennel, as well as being put up when unable to be supervised. She would do best in a home willing to help her reinforce the basic manners she already has, ensuring a good solid connection through training and structure. She would enjoy a moderately active house with some walks and fetch opportunities, lots of snuggles and cuddles, and possibly another doggy sibling or two. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Buttercup, 2yr old, spayed female, pitbull mix, 51 pounds. Buttercup resides in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Buttercup was saved from the county shelter and was housed with another dog, and went into a foster home with other pups. She was able to do integrate well but, because of her hearing impairment, she gets startled easily and becomes very defensive when surprised. It is not that she cannot be around other dogs but she needs time to feel comfortable and secure before letting her guard down. To alleviate this, we have found putting up a fence/x-pen and allowing her to see/"meet" the dogs before being let loose with them works best for Buttercup. Buttercup has learned some basic obedience using hand signals and tactile marks, and has learned to connect seeing other dogs with a long tap on her right shoulder. Her ideal home would be one who sees her hearing challenges as an opportunity to connect on a deeper level with her and will take the time to train Buttercup, whether on their own or through professional courses. Buttercup is very human friendly and affectionate. She's a gentle lovebug working to navigate her way through this world with the guidance of her human. She would do best with kids 10 years or older due to her size and hearing issues, which may result in her being startled by young kids. Buttercup is a solid 4/10 level dog - she can be playful and excited but her default is to sit back and watch, assess. She is well mannered and doesn't beg, and is overall easy to handle on the leash, with minimal reactivity on walks. She is fully house and crate trained, and enjoys snoozing in bed or riding in a car for adventures. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Hello, my name is Onyx! I am new here, but have been very friendly with everyone I have met so far. I have also met other dogs and enjoy playing with them. I am still a puppy and am looking for a family to be ready for all the things that come along with owning a puppy. I would love to go to training classes to help me learn to be the best adult dog! Come meet me today!Few can resist a puppy. These adorable, soft bundles of energy are similar to four-legged children with tails. And like children, puppies need a lot of time, care, love, and patience. A puppy will depend on you for frequent and regular feedings and walks, for guidance and training, and for much of your time and your love. Before you plunge into puppy parenthood, make sure to research! There are many rewards to caring for a puppy, but there are also many requirements. Puppy classes are highly recommended for socialization and a positive transition into your home. Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. We had Gypsy DNA tested and the results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 4 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. Gypsy is fairly active. Gypsy loves to run and play with her toys and she especially loves squeaky toys. Gypsy loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot. She gets excited about squirrels and cats on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but will occasionally mistake one for a toy when she gets over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She can sit and comes when called, She is crate-trained, house-trained, and otherwise very well-behaved in the house. She could perhaps use a bit more obedience training with someone that is firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved member of the family and would like a large yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to the Pittsburgh area. She is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Heidi - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! My name is Heidi, full of youthful exuberance for life, innocence and curiosity. Ready to crawl right into your heart (won't take long either!!) and be a part of a family...YOUR family! I am still a youngster yet, a big puppy at heart! I have lots of energy and am quite agile. I could be a great candidate for obedience classes and maybe even some fun ones like agility classes. I'm a smart cookie (i know cuz my foster mom tell me so!) and catch on quickly. At 11 months and around 45lbs, I shouldn't get much bigger at my adult weight. What a perfect size for...everything! Neighborhood strolls, nature hikes(aaaah, all those wonderful tantalizing smells), camping, being a co-pilot for errand runs or trips to the park! You name it, I'm ready to give it a whirl and have a blast too (with whatever it is) just cuz we're doing it together!! And the bestest part is that I'm also small enough that I don't hog the whole couch for my cherished cuddle time!! My foster mom wanted you to know this about me - -she is housebroken -she wants to be a lap dog; -she would fit well with an adult home with older children; -with her high prey drive she should be in a home without small dogs or cats but will do well with her size or larger size breed of dogs; -she is a fast learner and will shine with an owner that will include her in their everyday life adventures; -she is crate trained; -she follows basic commands and walks well on leash; -she thrives on daily walks; -she’s a family dog and will make a fabulous family member; -she loves walks, hikes, exploring, tug of war and games using her nose and sparking her intelligence; -she’s quite agile and shows ability in figuring out how to jump over or crawl under set obstacles. She is happy, fun loving and eager to bring joy to her forever home! As my short sleek coat is low maintenance in the grooming department, making me more of a wash-n-to type of gal. And you do know what that means don't you?!! Oh yep yep, lots of extra time in the 'spoil me rotten' department. And you know that's what it's all about!! ;) Big on personality, smart and inquisitive, affectionate and sweet, my oh my I have a boatload of great traits going on, oh and don't forget my stunning good looks, to make me a great family addition, I just need the family...could it be YOUR family?

Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Zen - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! If Zen had a picture it would be of me, finding mindful awareness of the present moment. I've been working on minding my manners but am fully aware and ready if presently could be action packed adventure time!! I come in at 11months and only around 36lbs which makes me a perfect candidate for a family that is action packed! I'm always ready for an adventure (any adventure!). From strolls to hikes, from camping trips to errand trips with you, I am ready!! I'm also on the snuggly side enjoying some cuddle time when the day is done, so if you need some Zen in your life, that's me!! I get along great with the other foster pups here and I love people, both tall to small. And I am both house and crate trained! I might do better in a home without a cat, as I do like to chase them if they run but I am working on that! My beautiful stiped coat is a head turned for sure and it's very short and sleek making me low maintenance in the grooming department. Oh boy, that's sure a win win for the both of us, lots more time in the 'spoil me rotten' department. And yes indeed that's my favoritest time, you and me time, lots of snuggles and cuddles!! Is your life missing something? A little awareness that is action ready? I could be your missing piece, the Zen to fill it!! All you have to do is fill out my adoption application and I'll take it from there!
