Story
Toad is a handsome gray pit bull with a big blocky head, soulful eyes, and an even bigger heart. He’s a sweet, people-loving boy who enjoys being close to his humans—whether that means lounging on the couch, following you from room to room, or soaking up all the affection he can get. Toad has a calm, gentle nature with a playful goofy side that comes out once he’s comfortable. He loves walks, treats, and cozy nap spots, and he’s eager to please. Despite his tough look, Toad is truly a softie who just wants a family to call his own.If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a cuddle buddy, and a best friend rolled into one. Toad might be the perfect match for you.If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
Hi there! My name’s Buddy Martin, and I’m a 2-year-old bundle of joy with a heart as big as my smile! I might have started life as a stray, but now I’m dreaming of a forever-home where I can share all my love (and a few of my silly zoomies).I’m a sweet, affectionate guy who adores hugs, kisses, and playtime. Give me a tennis ball, and I’ll show you my best moves! I spent some time in a foster home where I proved that I’m both housebroken and crate-trained. Pretty impressive, right?!?I do like to keep an eye on my home and can be protective when new people visit. It helps me feel safe to relax in my crate with a tasty treat when guests come over. That’s why I’d be happiest in an adults-only home without too many visitors, just me, my favorite humans, and lots of love.My dream home would have a fenced yard where I can run, play, and get all my energy out. I’m still working on some basic training, but I’m super eager to please and very treat motivated, so I’m ready to learn everything you want to teach me!The shelter can be a little loud and stressful for me, so I can’t wait to find a calm, quiet home where I can finally relax, cuddle up, and just be your Buddy. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving friend who will keep you smiling every day, come meet me, Buddy Martin, and let’s start our happily ever after! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Are you seeking the goodest boy? Look no further, as his name is Saint and he is up for adoption. Rescue workers brought Saint in after finding him sleeping as a stray on a bench outside a remote house. They contacted his former owner and learned that he had abandoned Saint. His foster family lives near where rescuers found him. The foster family would love to adopt him, unfortunately their other male does not like him. Saint loves laying on the couch next to his person while watching tv. He lets out his extra energy by playing with toys or zooming around the yard. He can play with other dogs, or he can entertain himself. Although friendly to all people and children, he forms attachments to individuals. He knows sit, stay, up, down, lay down, no, come, leave it, crate and much more. Once you have him do something once or twice, it becomes second nature to him. He will chase a cat, but if you “say leave” it or “no” before the chase happens, he will leave them alone. This dog has everything to offer the perfect family. He is an easy trainable dog. His only downside is not having any people to ensure the best for this goodest boy. The current foster loves to talk about him, so feel free to ask questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Approved adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina and Kentucky. You must be at least 21 years of age to apply and legally sign our contract for adoption. Applications must be completed by the homeowner.  We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. If you are renting, and you are applying to adopt a dog that is not a giant breed, permission to adopt an animal must be obtained from the landlord or property owner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to homes with children under 6 years of age. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Applications will be denied if anyone residing in the household has a record indicating drug/alcohol abuse, theft, or violence. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. &#226&#128&#139Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. Homes with highly varnished floors must have non-slip area rugs or mats wherever your animal walks or rests frequently.  **Puppy Adoption Policy** To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months. Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age.  If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed.  If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.  For additional information please review our FAQs or contact mastiffstomutts@gmail.com **Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to approve or deny any adoption that occurs through this organization without disclosure.  We reserve the right to make exceptions for special circumstances. **PA Kennel License: 05845   September 25, 2025, 1:48 pm

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is King. I'm about 1-2 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was seized by the pound, along with 11 other dogs and puppies, after being found living in very neglectful conditions in the very cold winter weather. Most of us didn't even have shelter and those of us that did had less than ideal shelter and living conditions. I have not been a house dog in the past, nor have I ever been well socialized. I am a very sweet, but I am afraid of most everything. I do love other dogs and another friendly, well socialized dog would greatly help me. I am a little timid at first when meeting new people, but I am a very sweet boy and I warm up to you quickly. I LOVE to snuggle into you and get attention and affection. I will need a patient new family that can give me the basic training and socialization I need. In addition to basic training, I will also need work with potty training. Although I may need work to be the ideal tog, I promise to pay you back for your hard work in kisses and cuddles! If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
