Story
Our sweet and adorable Bruno Bear almost didn't make it out of the shelter alive as he was scheduled to be euthanized for "aggressive behavior." We are STILL reeling over this fact. He is so beyond gentle and sweet, and (as you can see from his pics) all he wants is love and affection. Within hours of being saved from death row, he was rolling in the backyard grass at his foster home, clearly taking it all in that he had just been saved. He loves his foster sister Mochi, cheese, and going for walks. As he is only around 3 years old with no training, we are working on his leash pulling and also not jumping up when he gets too excited. He is working with a trainer weekly and is getting better every single day. He has been an excellent house guest in every way! We can't wait to find Bruno's forever home and family, this guy absolutely deserves to find his "happily ever after." Could it be with you?

Story
Terrence is a friendly, out-going young dog who greets everyone with tail wags and walks enthusiastically on leash. Terrence enjoys frolicking in the grass and is bouncy and playful. He`s befriended some dogs at the Shelter and is energetic and playful with dogs he`s met. He hung out in a foster home for a period and the foster reports the following: `Terrence is amazing and I love him so much!! He’s the best snuggle bug, loves to play with his foster sister, rides so well in the car and already knows sit, down, and is getting so good at loose leash walking. Terrence is amazing in every way and will thrive in a home without kitties. He’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever met!`Like a lot of bully dogs, he`s mildly obsessive about things that have gotten him rewarded with attention in the past - for Terrence, that`s playing with a tennis ball in the shady grass, which he`ll happily do until he`s exhausted. It may take him a bit to decompress in a new home and realize that he`ll still get love, attention and company even when he`s NOT adorably leaping and pouncing on a ball and tossing it back to you for more...A canine companion in the home to zoom around with is likely a fit - he tends to go right up to other dogs and sniff and say `hi` with friendly, eager wags. Terrence is sociable, young, and friendly, so with positive reinforcement training and good management, Terrence will likely pick up house training and other household rules and manners quickly! What this little guy lacks in height, he makes up for in charm and sociability!

07/24/24 23:56DOG DAY OUT REPORT:Today I: Went on a big walk in Jeffrey Fontana Park! I’ve been on plenty of walks outside the shelter so I knew the drill - couldn’t wait to jump in the car when we got outside. When we got to the park, the sprinklers were on and I had a great time splashing around in those! It was a hot day so I was happy to get wet and then spend some time rolling around on the grass. After an hour I was feeling pretty pooped, so we went on a little sniffari at Petco, but I wasn’t too excited about that, so we went and got a pup cup instead. What a nice day.Three Words to Describe Me are: Sweet, loving, amiableNotes from My Walker: Roo is such a sweet girl, and I’m sad to see her back in the shelter. I hope she finds another family soon. She’s sweet and cuddly, checks in frequently on walks, doesn’t pull, and is very amenable to being hoisted up into the car. She loves butt scratches and she’s very interested in squirrels, but she also cares very much about being a good girl and won’t pull if you tell her not to. She did seem a bit reactive with some of the dogs we passed, but she may have just been excited about playing with them.Seriously, Roo is the best and she deserves a loving home. She’d be a wonderful family dog.Notes from the foster:Roo is the most affectionate and loyal dog we have ever met! All she wants is to spend time with you. She is more motivated by love than food, but she is very easy to train because she really pays attention to you and is excited to learn. We taught Roo to bark on command in just 15 minutes, which really surprised me. She even asks for permission before jumping on the couch with us.The only thing we had to work on was her reactivity to other dogs on walks, but I must say she has come a long way. I think sometimes she is just too excited to interact with other dogs, and it sounds more like frustration than aggression.Roo is also very playful. She constantly brings her toys to us and asks to play tug of war. If she is on the other side of the room and you bend down and stretch your arms, she will zoom towards you for a hug! If you let her out in the backyard when it is raining, she will do the most incredible zoomies that will leave you laughing in tears. She is just so amazing. She doesn`t just deserve a home, she deserves the best home!07/18/24 23:38Dog Day Out notes from last week:Today I: went to Almaden Lake Park wit

Story
Foster, Adopt OR Foster-to-Adopt me! Sweet pittie Tito has beautiful eyes, a contagious grin… and a purr?   Two-year-old Tito is healthy, potty trained, walks well on leash, and loves learning new tricks. Long hikes on the weekend get Tito’s energy out, and he spends his weekdays napping on blankets near his foster mom. Tito is easy-and naturally quiet. He rarely barks, but makes piggy snorts and purrs throughout the day.  (We think he’s 1/3 dog, 1/3 cat, and 1/3 pig!)   Tito was shy when he arrived at the shelter, but warmed up with treats and attention. He  bonds tightly to any gentle person who shows him patience and love. Once you’re his person, sweet Tito enjoys giving kisses, getting couch cuddles, and making you laugh with silly bum-wiggles!    Tito loves other dogs, and easily made friends in shelter playgroups. He will be a fantastic brother for another dog.    Tito needs a dog-savvy home, ideally with a yard so Tito can roll around on the grass. (As we said - part pig.) We recommend a home without small children; Tito seems to like kids, but can be a bowling ball when he gets the zoomies. He needs a patient family that commits to positive training methods - this gentle boy needs spoiling, not discipline!   If you can give that to Tito, he will repay you with silliness, loyalty, and love.     Please help us learn more about you by filling out our online application: www.tinyurl.com/AdoptMeNow and we will arrange a meet and greet!  July 23, 2024, 1:31 pm

Story
Foster to/or Adopt me!   Gorgeous Georgie will be the perfect companion for you and your fur-baby!   Georgie has beautiful hazel eyes; silky, can’t-stop-petting-them ears; a cute sploot; and a freckled snoot!  But this 1.5-year-old boy has more to offer than just his good looks.  He has heart and brains, too!   Georgie is a little shy with new people, likely due to past mistreatment.  He needs a couple of weeks to fully settle into a new home.  But all it takes to win Georgie’s trust and adoration is a little patience and kindness.  Once you’re his person, Georgie will climb into your lap for kisses and cuddles!  And if he thinks you’re sad, Georgie will wiggle on the ground until you laugh and scratch his belly!   Super-smart Georgie is already potty-trained, knows how to sit for a treat, and loves sleeping in his crate.  He learned how to walk nicely on leash just by watching other dogs!  With continued positive training, Georgie will be the most impressive dog in your neighborhood.   Georgie lights up around other friendly dogs, and would love a dog-sibling in his forever home.  He is always ready to romp and play with a new dog-friend, but knows to be gentle with smaller dogs and to take correction from his elders. He met an adult cat and kittens and he was so sweet around them, even a little worried!     We know that he is a very special boy that deserves a loving home.  If that could be with you, please fill out our online application: www.tinyurl.com/AdoptMeNow Foster-to-Adopt is an option!July 23, 2024, 1:31 pm

Pogo is an amazing ~1yo micro American Bully weighing only about 25lbs (basically he’s a nice cocker spaniel/beagle size), who came to rescue after trauma and having his front leg amputated. That doesn’t stop this fun pogo stick! He races and hops around no problem! He is great with everyone he meets- people, dogs, cats, and even farm animals. Really well adjusted little dude. He’s cratetrained and housebroken. He has the personality to become mayor of your town, everyone loves him and he loves everyone! Story
Ferdinand is a rescue who was surrendered due to a medical issue (cherry eye) that was repaired by the shelter. He has lived with me for 3 years as a very loyal companion. However, life challenges are preventing me from giving him the attention and care that he needs and this is leading to the development of behavioral issues that I am not able to address. The good: Ferdinand is very food motivated, which makes it very easy to teach him new commands and to practice obedience training. He also is very chill and is happy to spend most of his day sleeping in various places around the house. In the evenings, he loves cuddling up next to me on the couch or on his heated mat. The challenges: Ferdinand is becoming more and more reactive to strangers in the home. He had a bite incident, but luckily no legal action was taken. He is crate-trained and is happy to wear a muzzle in public. The behavior could be extinguished with further training that I am unable to provide.
