CHICA was a puppy mill breeder and then dumped on the streets where she lived for a year and got pregnant again. We pulled her out of the storms three days before she gave birth. She was SOOO relieved to have a safe and warm place to whelp and raise her babies, and she wanted me right by her side during the entire 24-hour labor, often leaning on me for support... while I promised she would never have to go through that again. CHICA is now spayed and has come a long way in socialization. She has learned to wag tail at strangers instead of bark. She does bark when other dogs walk by, but more out of jealousy than anything else. We think that she was never allowed indoors before since she took months to build up the courage to come inside. Now all she wants is to be somebody's couch potato! She is enthusiastic with affection and friendly with other dogs and even delivery drivers who she barks at until they come inside the yard to deliver a package, at which point she wags her tail and wants to say hello. ***CHICA displays no form of aggression except with a bit of FOOD GUARDING, as many street dogs do. It's also possible she was not fed enough as she was being used as a breeder. Since she is so friendly in every other way, this could be worked on. Meet DALILAH. This "used up" breeder was found chained to a fence in Stockton, emaciated, covered in flies and fleas and dried blood, and struggling to walk and breathe. After taking some time to gain her trust, we took her to an after-hours vet to make sure she had no urgent healthcare issues and got some antibiotics for her skin. Turns out she has the worst case of fleas I have ever seen. Even after the dose of Capstar from the vet and a very thorough wash and rinse while she just sat there with her head on my knee and let the fleas wash away in masses, she still had hundreds of them crawling around and trying to get off of her. We will trim her nails and dose her with a longer-term flea medication and some dewormer, which is likely what has caused her distended belly and maybe her malnutrition, almost certainly anemia. We'll schedule her for our intro vet package (thorough health check, vaccinations, microchip), get some x-rays to determine why she has trouble walking, keep her inside for a while so the flies don't go back at it, get her on a regular diet, and hopefully she will be feeling and looking like herself... maybe for the first time ever. #DalilahTails. Yogi is special because we are his 1st home. We rescued him from the dog shelter in Arizona when he was only 8 weeks old back in 2019. My sister in law who lives in Arizona trained him and he eventually moved to California with us. Yogi loves to play fetch and loves being pet. He’s friendly around kids and around other dogs. He is loyal,playful,and obedient. We are rehoming him because we are not able to meet his needs. Our hands are full due to busy work schedule with a toddler and a new baby. She came from the Stockton shelter where one of our RPNC volunteers first heard about her and started fostering her. Norah was a medical foster due to her having a prolapsed rectum. She's had two surgeries to repair her colon and after a long recovery period Norah is ready to find her forever home. Norah will need to stay on special food through her life and it will be important for her new family to understand her medical condition. There is a possibility that she will need to have another surgery by a specialist. However, her foster has been able to control her condition with diet and we are hopeful her new family will be able to do the same. Norah is a typical 6 month old puppy. She loves to play, play, play. She currently lives with 2 other dogs; a younger dog and an older dog. She does great with both. Plays with the younger dog and respects the older dog. She also lives with a cat, that she likes to chase. We think with boundaries and more training she could live with a dog savvy cat. She loves all peoples. She is house and crate trained but is still learning the command "go to bed" to go into her crate on command and she is still learning the basics such as sit. Altough Norah is your typical active puppy, she can also chill out and chew on a nyla bone for hours. Norah would be a fantastic addition to any family. She is one of those dogs that fits in with everyone.
