Story
Nala is a very sweet and playful pup. She might be a bit shy at first but with a walk, treats, and some patience and love she will come right out of her shell. Nana absolutely loves to cuddle and will join you on the couch whatever chance she gets. Sometimes she gets overwhelmed with excitement with physical touch and has a tendency to mouth. Shes been working diligently on redirecting this habit to toys and has improved tremendously but occasionally she gets too excited and forgets. A strong verbal no or ouch does the trick and she knows to stop. Speaking of knowing she is a really smart girl. She already knows sit lay down and wait. She is kennel trained and can almost last through the night. She usually wakes up around 5:30 to use the bathroom and then will go right back in her kennel and back to sleep until around 8AM. Nala doesnt really whine or bark. So its best to take her outside in intervals throughout the day because she wont really notify you that she has to use the bathroom. However, once you take her outside shell use the bathroom promptly. Nala is just over one year old and while she isnt the most energetic pup, sheisstill a young dog and has a lot of energy. She loves to chase her toys and go on walks. She has a strong prey drive, especially for squirrels and birds, but has been working on responding to to me or leave it. Nala is a wonderful dog who is going to bring loads of joy, cuddles, and laughter to someones life. She just needs someone who is willing to be a little patient with her and provide her with a bit more training. Overall we can not believe she was in a shelter for almost half her life - she is just so sweet. Nala is somewhat leash reactive to other dogs on walks. Nala is shy when meeting new people. She will growl if someone she doesnt know walks into the house and she hasnt been properly introduced. When we introduced her to a new person outside, while on leash, and had that person lead her back into the house she was completely fine.

Story
PERSONALITY & BEHAVIORS With her foster family, Usagi is an extremely affectionate little hunk of love. A master of snuggles, she will happily either lie on top of her humans, sprawl out next to them, curl up in the curve of their legs, or smoosh in-between them; big spoon, little spoon--she loves it all. One of her most favorite activities is belly rubs. She will flop onto her back, with paws dangling, and extort all the belly rubs she can. She loves her toys and all food. Usagi loves to chase a ball, and can run faster and jump higher/farther than most, which would make her great for any type of agility games and training. She occasionally gets the most adorable zoomies and will race in circles, grab a toy, and buck like a little bronco. She is sooooo endearing and provides endless entertainment. Usagi is very smart and eager to please. She has learned Sit, Down, Stay, Up, Roll over, Spin, Lay on your side, Go to your mat, Wait/Hold (for food or when doors open), Leave it, Come, Kennel up (Go to crate), and a few others! Here's one of the tricks she now knows: She can lie down, with treats lined up on her legs and muzzle, and then, when given the "Okay" cue, she will gobble them up! Usagi generally walks beautifully on a leash. She is a quick study and would likely be happy to learn any trick requested. These are just some examples of Usagi's amazing qualities and lovable personality. She is, however, very fearful of new things including dogs and people. She has made progress, but in her forever home Usagi will need a patient pet parent/family who will continue to work with her slowly while she builds confidence. Usagi will need to be the only animal in her new home. Her very rambunctious playstyle and bullish affection would also likely overwhelm small children. Usagi is getting braver but still needs very slow introductions to new humans. So, she would not do well in a house with lots of visitors or with people who travel a lot. Usagi completely melts her foster humans with her sweet, affectionate gaze, the press of one of her meaty little paws, or the smooshing of her blocky head against their cheeks. She will bring boundless love, affection, and laughs to her forever home, and needs loving, caring people to help her feel safe. PHYSICAL Usagi is an adorable stocky little mix--mostly white, with large brown patches and some small, dark polka dots. She is short and muscular with adorable chunky paws. Her big bunny ears usually stand straight up, but sometimes her right ear flops over. Usagi has stunningly gorgeous blue and gold eyes, and a mottled pink and brown nose.

Story
Hi there! My name is Josephine. Thanks for checking out my bio! I'm roughly 3 years old, but a true lady never reveals her age. Other than that, I don't have many secrets, and I have so much to tell you! I currently live with 3 other dogs, and I love all of them. I've also met some dogs on my various outings, and I think all of them have been super cool. I love to chew on toys and am happy to chill and hang out wherever you are, so I'm an ideal work from home buddy. I love pets, and I'm not shy about letting you know when I'm ready for them. No playing hard to get here-I'm a girl who knows what she wants! However, I don't like to yell or talk loudly and would much rather whisper sweet stories in your ear. In the mornings or when something exciting happens, I'll talk (grunt/grumble) up a storm, but overall, I'm a pretty quiet gal. I like to sleep in my pen at night and for naps during the day. A woman needs her beauty sleep. So, see...I'm sort of perfect! Now that I've won you over with all of my charm, let's get real with each other. I was in pretty rough shape when my foster humans found me, and they've done so much to help me. But just like everyone, I'm still a work in progress. I'm heartworm positive but have already completed all of my treatment. So now I just have to wait a few months to get retested and get that negative test result back to be officially heartworm free. Not so bad, right?! I also came to them unable to use my back legs. I do have feeling in them; they just don't like to talk to my brain right now. Maybe that's why I like to chat so much-to make up for my silly legs! The good news is I can get around really well with my front legs. I can scoot on the floor all by myself, or if you're up for some teamwork, I can walk around while you hold my back legs up with a sling. I also have a really cool wheelchair. Using it is a lot of work and can be tiring, but I love using it for short distances or to walk around the yard like an independent woman! I'm going to physical therapy twice a week to help my legs talk to my brain and keep them nice and strong. It's a lot of work, but I'm making impressive progress. And I'll need my new humans to keep up my therapy so I can keep it up! I'm now able to stand on my own and even take a step or two! Let's find out together how far I can go! Finally, I know it's sometimes considered impolite to talk about bathroom stuff. But with a pup like me, it's best to be up front. I know to do my business outside, but because I'm paralyzed in my back end, I have some trouble in that department. Poops are pretty easy most of the time. I just need extra help getting in position and balancing. Going pee is a little more difficult for me. It's hard for me to get everything out, so I'll need my new humans to assist me and express my bladder. But don't worry, my foster humans can show you how! And I like to think of all of this as a unique bonding opportunity! I know some of this might seem a bit overwhelming, but I have no doubt the perfect family is out there for me! Plus, my foster humans are ready to help answer any and all questions, so let's talk more and see if we're a match!

Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
All we want is for Ocean to have the best life possible. This is the hardest decision we’ve ever made as a family. Our daughter is almost two and Ocean is showing us that he needs a childfree home. His days are carefully managed behind gates due to life with an unpredictable toddler. Even with daily walks, enrichment, and training the separation is unsustainable for him. Ocean is a special needs dog. He is anxious and dog reactive. We have successfully managed this with medication and force free training, management and enrichment activities. Despite it all Ocean is EXTREMELY smart, hardworking, resilient, driven, people loving, and a fierce and loyal protector. He personifies his breed exquisitely in a lot of ways. We have had him his whole life. He is the goodest boy with a few quirks. We are looking for a small-child/animal free home with a yard and an experienced bully breed owner. We will drive literally anywhere for the right home and provide health insurance for his care.

Story
I adopted Fiona from a Humane Society in Virginia. She is almost 5 years old. She is in need of a home that will give her freedom to run, be taken out for walks, given cuddles and love constantly, and not he left alone for such a long time. Fiona is active, loving, strong, teachable, sweet, energetic, and sometimes stubborn.
